Weight loss support thread

I can't go on the popular diets like keto due to neurology issues (neurologist advised against it) but thought modified Atkins would be a good one. Where do you guys get recipes for food?

I've got the autist "only simple shit" thing going on right now and don't want fancy gastropub shit where they use weird shit that costs a lot. I'm a wagecuck and can't afford to spend much.

I switched jobs a few months ago from something a bit more labor demanding to something with virtually no demand at all. I've gained about 30lbs since then. I have negative motivation or experience cooking outside of using a slow cooker. I'm going out and doing labs around a lake, but I don't of any retard easy and quick to cook or anything that can really constitute as "healthy" in a slow cooker.

anyone got any advice on or where I could find something for this on?

Salads are the shit and you don't need to cook them. just dont go full hambeast on cheese + dressing. Can bake or boil chicken to chop up and put in them, or any lean meat, or no meat.
literally just throw some shit and some leaves in a bowl and eat.

So my problem is I'm a fat fuck who works constantly and doesn't have time to cook.

I need some help. What are some cheap, easy, recipes that can help a fat fuck like me.
Use your crockpot. Throw chicken breasts in it and some low starch vegetables. Add seasonings and you'll have a few meals that can be reheated. The salad idea is a great one. If you don't have time to make them, buy them. Just don't use the dressings and crap that comes with them. Use avocado oil and Braggs Apple Cider vinegar for dressing, with whatever spices you like. Eat avocados, eggs, and if you have a spare day, you can spend some of it food prepping. Grill chicken, steaks, fish, and have that ready to throw with some vegetables. Buy frozen vegetables, they're actually fresher than fresh ones. Keep bagged salad on hand. No need to make elaborate meals. Keep it simple!!

I've decided to try this Huel that I keep seeing ads for.
So, it's like a healthier SlimFast, right? Sounds good, except I can't stand artificial sweeteners. Wish I could get used to the taste of artificial sweeteners, but I just can't do it. Other than that, it seems like it'd be pretty good.

I'm currently on the way to slimming myself down. By the end of senior year at uni, my goal is 160 lbs. Started at 208 lbs. I'm now around 193.5 (in comparison to height, I am around "5,10"). Spent more time getting active. Walking around town, seeing new sights, doing new activities, and it feels great. I went down 2 pant sizes.

It's funny because when I used to do sports, I gained more rather than lost. Maybe it's because I was in wrestling and "muh protein" to fatten me up to become strong.

Down to 205. It's strange to process that I've managed to drop 75 elbees this year. Going down a shoe size or so surprised me more than my clothes all getting enormously baggy; of course it would happen, but I never considered it.

I don't really have time/money/skill at making attractive complicated meals either. I've lived on oatmeal, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, brussels sprouts, chick peas, spinach salad and chicken, sweet potatoes, and broccoli this year. All of that is so sustaining that I miss none of the shit I used to eat. When your craving is for brussels sprouts, you're heading in the right direction.

-sweet potatoe fries ; just cut one into fries shape put a bit of olive oil salt and paper on them, place on a baking sheet and bake for around 15-20 minutes at 180°c
-boulgour is a nice alternative to quinoa as its cheaper and last for days, you do have to put in a bit of time to cook it so maybe do it on a sunday and cook it in bulk to you can have it for the rest of the week. Just put 3 big cups of water for 1 big cup of boulgour, add either beef or chicken broth (i use it in powder form or cube) put it in the boulgour once the water's boiling leave on medium until the boulgour almost absorbed all of the water (might be dry if it absorbs everything) then take off the stove let it rest 30mn. 1 cup of boulgour doesn't look like a lot but it's just like couscous where it's going to grow by absorbing the water so just chops some veggies in advance and protein mix everything and you got a meal
-feed bars ; i have no idea if this brand is available outside of france but I know that I get them from time to time as it's pretty filling and replace a typical meal when you don't have time and fills me up to approx 6 hours. They can be pricey (3,89 a bar lmfao) so only occasionally
-chicken & zuchini noodles with a bit of tomato sauce ; just cook your chicken breast like you normally would season it etc. aside chop up some zuchini in noodles form (theres this sharperner for vegetables that does it well) and just add them to the chicken in the pan with a bit of tomato sauce until its warmed up enough.

I wouldn't say I'm exactly struggling with weight loss but I'm definitely one on those people would struggle to committing to a routine once I've decided I need to shed a few pounds. I'm currently trying to get back down to 140 pounds by biking and blending fruit. My best advice is that you have to get mad at yourself. It takes a bit of self awareness and a real desire to change but I've done it before. Now when I feel like a can't go on I think about everything I've accomplished and I get pissed off at myself for being so mentally weak and wanting to rest so I push through and keep going until my legs feel like noodles. I know everyone has heard it before but it still stands, no pain no gain. That applies mentally as well as physically. When you finally decide you want to change how you're living it's never easy, but most things in life that are great are rarely easy if ever.

Intermittent fasting. Just do it, fatties! It works for weight loss and is the best thing you'll ever do for your health.

Psychologically I find it easier to eat a lot some days but nothing on others. I pig out on absolutely shit when I do eat and am absurdly healthy by any metric. It becomes super easy after a while, as I was writing this post I just realised I haven't had anything but water for 40 hours or so.

If you're planning on living a couple more decades you are doing yourself a real disservice if you don't at least inform yourselves on the topic.

I started intermittent fasting in October mostly because I'd plateaued for most of the previous month. Lost 11 elbees in Oct. doing IF once or twice a week, so you won't get any argument here. It's worth the experiment or at least the investigation, definitely.

In a couple days I will be at 5 months of weight loss. And I'm down 80 pounds.

For any who are questioning the "correct" foods to eat to achieve this, I have no real answer for you. I never switched to healthy greens, instead I aggressively counted my calories. Unless there was a label attached and it was within my calorie budget, I didn't eat it. I started with microwave meals, then switched to smaller stuff as my caloric needs, like my waistline, shrank. I'm currently doing just fine eating fish and eggs, with occasional cheese, alchohol (with moderation), and some crackers. Even on the rare drunken binge, I just ate a few extra eggs. No problem.

If I told a doctor all this, they'd encourage further weight loss, but they'd be horrified by my sodium intake, suggesting vegetables and fruits. And I'm of the firm belief that I'd be dead in a week.

Also, if anyone out there wants to suggest they lack the willpower, I will suggest that willpower can be overruled by a firm declaration. There is no "how can I avoid pizza today?" in my mind. Instead, I think "I need to lose X pounds, fuck your pizza."

Now if you like a bit of insanity, I do have some insight for you. I have been writing since middle school, and I find giving your own personal traits a name and face can be quite a powerful thing. For me, I gave my horrific hunger a backstory, a name, and a face. Once I had personified the thing I wished to overcome, it became more of a battle between me and an individual. It became easier to overcome. I realize I have several screws loose, but that approach may work for some of you.

Did an hour in the gym today, and I am seeing a trainer on Wednesday!

I generally like to stay away from numbers for long periods of time because I have some mental health issues that cause me to fixate and catastrophize. But I have been making the effort and I'm very proud of myself for sticking to this. Also been drinking a lot of Spinach/kale/banana smoothies to get my veggies.

Anyone got tips for someone who has thin arms/legs, but has a bit of a gut?

Cut down on salt, refined carbs, alcohol, sugar. Focus on protein, healthy fats, non-starchy vegetables, and fruit like berries or cantaloupe. Drink enough water. Do weight-bearing exercises that build up your arms and legs to help balance out your proportions (and for many other good reasons, of course).

Don't be fooled into thinking Ab-workouts or any "Targeted workouts" are extremely effective.
They can give results but often temporary and sometimes the opposite of what you want. Ex: I wanted a smaller waist, I target trained my abs and my waist just bulked and looked more square. T_T
Full body workouts will be the best route to better proportions, and strength-training will allow you to build your extremities to look better balanced.
edit: Running is one of the best ways to tone

What are some examples of "strength-training"?
