Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

It really bothers me to think American culture might just be an endless cycle back and forth between the radical left and the radical right, if one day it does get to the point where the right becomes too controlling again I will be sorely disappointed.

Why can't we seem to figure out a healthy balance?

This one is hilarious.

I remember seeing that original image of Anakin with Vader's shadow for the first time in some magazine while at my great grandmother's house and thinking "dang, what a cool image, the Phantom Menace is going to be great!"

In fact that was the first time I saw any images from the movie, including the battle droids, I thought it all looked cool (and still does really, you can't fault The Phantom Menace's visuals at least)
People as a group refuse to think for themselves and they very often aren't trained to do so. It all comes down to the next generation of university lackeys and amoral businessmen now.

Heh, look at what I found.

Here's a dump of all my Google Trends graphs about Soy Was

We're probably the only people left who care. There are still Joker threads on /tv/ but no SW. I haven't poked around plebbit in a while, maybe I should go back to r/starwars etc. and start scouting out a hype or lack thereof, but there really isn't much left.

Any extra data you can get would be appreciated, I'm starting to think my 835 million box office estimate was high.
Its quite amazing really. And don't forget the graph where the Dark Crystal: AoR completely raped IX in traffic and relevancy there. That show does everything Disney Wars doesn't. Its a fucking love letter to Henson that not only honors his original series-bible but also honors not just the film but the 20 years of media that came out after it. Its pure fucking gold in the form of wacky puppets.

Anyway, threads about SW on /tv/, reddit, etc have been either non-existent or slow almost everywhere except r/starwars, r/reylo, r/starwarsleaks, the Reylo forums and the broken shit pile that was once Jedi Council. /tv/ hasn't had an active SW thread for over a week until the day before yesterday which was actually a thread about Genndy's Clone Wars. And anything relating to Disney Wars on the China SW forums is all but a dead topic, in fact the site has pretty much been taken over by the Southern Warrior who is the forum's resident Disney shill and "Ding Dong Bannu" Mod who has basically flooded the forums with hundreds upon hundreds of Disney threads while the rest of the community has up and left the Disney drone by himself: http://www.starwarschina.com/thread-45457-1-2.html
And this lone thread exemplifies what's become of the SW community in China: http://www.starwarschina.com/thread-16105-1-1.html
With them just posting about how they wish they could go back to before the Dark times, before Disney... Disney you fucking tards.

Also this is a bit of a late entry, but Disney is starting up a Star Wars-themed airline with UA as part of their shitty lifestyle brand pandering...
Yes I'm sure this will go about as well as anything else you have tried, Lucasfilm.

Also the brief high of the Dr. Aphra comic and her suffering under Vader has ended as she's back to bitching and whining about her daddy issues again (OMG daddy why you love those stupid religious jedi more than me?!) while her ex-evil droids (who've had their memories wiped) make obnoxious Whedon quips.

Shit, really? That I didn't know... Sorry. Must be a GOTIS thing

Eh, there was a segment of the fandom that wasn't exactly rational either. The Star Wars forums shut down all talk of her and a really stupid debate in hindsight after one loony fan made a machinima depicting himself shooting up a library of Traviss and her fans (or obvious stand-ins).

Yes, even in the shill Disney forums I see, Star Wars is talked about by either one or two, but most people prefer focusing on the more Disneyish properties. The remakes and dolls generate more buzz than freakin' Star Wars. Then again, maybe these are just Disney fans but not really that much into Star Wars.

wdwmagic seems to be arguing over where testing is on that other ride, at a glance the parties appear to be "lol no" and "approaching CM tests"

I'm talking about the Religious Right in America who in times past were control freaks comparable to SJWs, calling for bans and boycotts of stuff they didn't like and found offensive.
Yes, but they were usually ignored and were mocked by the media. Hollywood still made rated R movies about slashers killing teens despite Bible-thumpers' protests. The almighty dollar always had the last word.

Now nothing makes any sense. The media are the oppressors now. People capitulate to a tiny minority of whiners on Twitter and corporations lose millions.
At least the Religious Right were predictable. You never know what some asshole liberal arts professor is suddenly going to declare as haram, -ist, or -phobic.

We live in a world where people blame black-on-black violence on internalized white supremacy within society and the same people sit there all day, pondering what to get assblasted over next... So yeah, they are willing to invent an issue no matter how nonsensical and people read that shit and believe and regurgitate it.

I would love to be part of a Disney Board meeting about such topics, what are the suits really thinking about this shit?
Are they overestimating the power of a twitter mob? Are they actually led to believe this shit is a good idea? What the fuck is going on?
They lose money and very loyal long-time fans to pander to a short-term twitter hashtag that will never translate into money for them.

They'd get a lot of shit pulled from children's TV though (and still do like getting the Arthur episode with Mr. Ratburn's husband banned in Alabama). Not a big loss for culture I guess, but they had some influence. The PMRC (who put the explicit content stickers on music) was big on the Religious Right even if it was Tipper Gore who played the largest role in starting it, and people like L. Brent Bozell and Bill Donohue would (and still try to) wage big campaigns to spam the FCC and advertisers with bitching about how offensive some random TV show was, and often would have some success and probably did result in plenty of self-censorship.

The self-censorship thing here is key, because back then writers and directors hated having to self-censor, now they absolutely love it (or at least go along with it) when some new thing is deemed offensive and they get to censor themselves and then boast about it as virtue signaling.

Or they do like South Park did which is throw in obviously completely offensive bait so that the people whose job it is to censor stuff censor that and let other stuff slide or, if you're really lucky, somehow completely fuck up and let the incredibly offensive censorbait through.

Anyone who's afraid Disney or any other big business genuinely believes this shit can be rest assured they don't now.

I'm sure there's a culture of fear in the modern corporate world that rivals the old days of the Soviet Union.

Nobody wants to be the white man that tells a woman or minority "no"
