Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

Didn't they do a similar thing with a recent GameStop promotion that offered a Shiny Solgaleo/Lunala, I think, right?
Not quite. The GameStop one is the same old go to the place, get the code and whatnot. Has nothing to do with SWSH. The Japanese deal is you get shiny Necrozma for pre-ordering SWSH and it goes to the Alola game, and then it will sit there uselessly because GF made a pre-order incentive that can't even be used in the game you've pre-ordered for it.

I've seen more Serebii Joe with a painted mustache photos than you'd think. I was a loyal member from 2004-2009 and saw a lot of weird shit go down.

Joe Merrick is koo-koo, and I think he should have a Kiwi thread.

Look, can we all just agree whether it be Joe Merrick, Distant Kingdom, or whoever tries to act like a big shot in pokemon...

... That they're all autistic dweebs getting legit angry over pokemon games? Even to the point of comparing the Hong Kong protests to this stupid drama?

I mean, I get it, and I agree - The cut freakin sucks, but nitpicking every little detail and acting like smarmy douchebag who can't understand what the word comparison means or being a GF blind defending White Knight who can't be bothered to listen to the other side does nothing but make for fun pop corn eating moments for people on this forum?
The thing with DistantKingdom is that he was totally right, then huffed his own fart so hard he lost all his good sense. Started to plain sperg out and then lost touch with all reality. It's a typical internet story really. Joe has basically always been a kook and a shill, but I feel like he used to be more likable.

Same

Neither side is appealing.

There's a lot of strawmanning in the air with the nerd slap-fighting. The people with a beef with the design decisions for the new game aren't all shrieking faggots, and the people who don't have a beef with it aren't all slobbering on the company's cock. Was this really a thing before Ghostbusters 2016? That's the earliest time I can recall people doing a, "If you don't like _______ then YOU'RE A SHITTY PERSON" versus "If you like _________ then YOU'RE A GODDAMNED SHILL".

I haven't really followed distant other then some of his videos talking about the models and exp share, is it just sperging out on twitter or is it something else?

DK may be 'right', but like you said he really huffed his own farts and decided to nitpick to all hell and back on the games, it's gotten to the point where it's extremely sad that he's pandering to the 100th degree in order to maintain the audience he has. Like when he decided to rant about how Galarian Ponyta was a disappointment because it didn't have the fairy typing and how it was now bad.

Recently, a poketuber DuncanCan'tDie/DuncanKneeDeep actually offered to debate DK on a livestream to discuss their points, and DK said no. And I think I know why... It's because DK can't survive without his mindless drones on twitter or his youtube comment section. Seriously, if you so much as disagree with DK on twitter, you will get swarmed by the mindless drones who keep on repeating the same thing again and again, all of it coming out of DK's mouth.

There's no better example of this than when Distant Kingdom compared the Hong Kong protests to BBND a couple weeks back - People got upset that the comparison was made at all, especially when the example use was way to extreme and was seen by people to be really tactless. Especially considering that the conversation was about the EXP share.

DK doubles down on this, even going so far as to say "I didn't compare the two" and "My statement is correct", and his drones ate it up.

From what I saw, while the comparison is legit, that ignores that it's a sensitive topic and not one that should've been used especially in regards to Pokemon. It got so bad that DK and his lapdogs (like a guy named Savij who, like Distant Kingdom, have such an obsession - This obsession is Verlisify, like seriously, almost EVERY video from this guy is about verlisify where it comes off as if he's a stalker, and when you have to say ANYTHING in defense of Verlisify, you know something's wrong) just kept going down.

Look, when it comes to games, you can voice your disagreements with what you want (even though DK likes to parade objective fact as his... 'Opinion' whenever someone criticizes him) - But like ya said @Perspicacity, he got high off of his farts, and the funny thing is, because for the last half year since his content became hyper focused on this one game and how it sucks, even if it does suck when it comes out, he built his kingdom on a single pebble.

Even if he transitions to mostly generalized pokemon content, there's no guarantee he'll last - There's just so much you can talk shit about something without becoming redundant, especially on a game that will probably be obsolete within a year or two of it's release.

I mean as you said the game will be obsolete in a year so he can just jump onto ultra sword and shield whenever that comes out. He'll just repeat the same song and dance with those.
I really think the only good videos to come out of this whole thing was Monroe's stuff but that might be due to how his video on Gen 6 and 7 really did help me place a finger on what I feel about the series nowadays, his gen 8 vid doubly so.

Same verse same as the first, if he does, then frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if people started leaving.

I mean, if you look on his channel, he did a Luigi's Mansion 3 video, and it didn't even come close to his PKM vids. The guy's a one trick pony, and he knows it. Frankly, I'll be glad when his channel crashes and burns.

I get online for the day and this bootlicking hashtag shit-slinging fest is one of the first things I see. Son of a bitch let this pre-release cycle from hell end already. I don't even care how the game will sell anymore (it'll do well no matter what so the franchise is forever doomed to ever increasing mediocrity). I just want the game out, datamined to hell so the guts are on the table for all to see so we can shut up the back and forth arguments once and for all, and move on from this utter circus.

I'm as big a Pokemon fan as one could find. A new generation is always the most exciting time. Seeing the new mons, doing pre-launch teambuilding, discovering new moves, items, features, ect. But not this time... Not anymore... And to see what's become of a franchise I've regarded so dearly; with a split fanbase, shoddy game quality, and overall unpleasantness from even bringing the game up no matter where you go, it's downright heartbreaking. I've heard the stories for years of beloved IPs dying slow painful deaths as fans bemoaned what happened to them, but I never thought it would ever affect my neck of the woods to such a degree as this mess Pokemon's currently in. It's just, fuck man...

I remember when this was the peak of SWSH memes. Before Dexit, before all the vitriol and blind hatred erupting from every side. When we were all waiting in anticipation, as excited for a new Pogeymanz as ever. I miss those days...

I'm sure game freak is panicking right now, my bet is that the launch event was canned since they are pulling their hair out to try to save the absolute shit show of the fan base right now. If they showed up in public like they planned on it would just of made the situation much worse for them.
Blame is probably flying at every one, all parties are trying to figure out what to do. It really doesn't matter if gen 8 sells, because at this point Gen 9 needs to be good enough (or at least give the appearance of) to make sure Pokemon doesn't have the fan base want to kill each other otherwise it will get to star wars levels of bullshit.

That's the best case scenario, that SWSH will be The Last Jedi of the series where enough people get fed up with the bullshit to the point where they have to change face. Though, there's also the worst case scenario where The Pokemon Company just decides the main series isn't profitable and pulls the plug on it altogether to shove it all onto mobile (everything else about the IP already has been by now).

The only thing that keeps me from thinking of that doomsday outcome is Nintendo. Since they have a business share in this whole thing, they undoubtedly would like to have a say in the matter when things would come to a head, since they obviously want Pokemon titles on their systems.

While I wouldn't consider myself a Pokemon fan, I generally like playing the games. I didn't initially care about Dexit or any of the initial outrage but then I started watched an early interview and it was just bizarre. As more trailers started coming out it became obvious the game was ripped from Sun & Moon, I started following GF more and their responses got weirder and weirder. No questions were ever answered about the games and it started to get creepy. Then the trailers came and the game looked like a remaster of Sun & Moon. The interviews got weirder too. Seeing men in their 50s sitting with Pokemon plushies looking real nervous was strangely fascinating. It was obvious something was seriously wrong. Then the news basically trinkled to nothing (which has never happened before, they usually reveal 80% of the game) and then it was obvious this game was gonna be bad.

So far it looks like they cut 60% of the old roster, megas, z-moves, GTS, and a ton of misc features. It's no wonder they are having a complete meltdown the game got leaked. Now I hear they tried a failed PR move called "#Thank you Gamefreak" , which started trending in the middle of the night from a bunch of newly created twitter accounts, yet more money wasted. I just love watching this train wreck, I can't stop following it. The fan base spergery, the dumb PR stunts, the cringe all around. It's all so perfect for a trashfire.

Some of these have to be ironic right?

Might need a suicide watch after these people realize that they won't be able to transfer their Pokemon into Sw/Sh. There's a lot of them like this.

SWSH will be profitable either way, but the problem is game freak is in a real possibility of isolating fans by making every future hype cycle be like swish and smash roster faggotry. that will cause burn out in the core fan base if every cycle is like this shit show and only leave game freak with fair weather GO fans.
Either way
Nintendo will keep it around as its a cash cow

Yeah it feels fucking weird, Masuda gives 20 different answers to questions when he talks about the Dex like he's Todd Howard. Near the end they say something like "we'll see when the reaction to sword and shield after it releases is known" after months saying its policy this moment forward. It fells like their is company politics that came to a head in gen 8 that outsiders can't really see.

I think by far the weirdest decision for me (as far as the actual core gameplay is concerned) is Dynamaxing, which is literally just Mega Evolution on a timer with some extra fluff (that is mostly bad).

Rather than fix up some broken Megas, patch up some underwhelming ones, and introduce new ones, they...rebranded them? There were plenty of Pokemon who needed their Megas to be any good, like my boy Gallade, but those are just gone now because...uh...reasons.

Like I don't understand why GF insists on throwing the baby out with the bathwater EVERY. FUCKING. GENERATION. Most iterative series gather up the best of each iteration to create a refined, optimal iteration. This seemed to be the case with Pokemon until around Gen 5, where it instead became a game of "throw everything at the wall and see what sticks, but also ignore everything that sticks too".

On one hand they want a "limit break" for all Pokemon but then they make the Gigantomaxes locked to specific creatues within a species so your beloved Corvoknight can't become Mega Corvoknight, it just becomes regular giant Corvoknight because dude lmao I dunno.

The whole thing is just stupid, honestly, but that's nothing new for GF. Should have just made all Pokemon able to "Mega Evolve" by syncing up with their trainer like in Pokken while some get new designs/more specific stat changes when they do so.

Also it bugs my autism that Dynamaxing turns your Pokemon into a fucking enormous, skyscraper-sized kaiju but it can still be defeated by a regular-sized Poke a few levels higher.

Gamefreak realized they could save on time and money by cutting new mega models. Now they can just re size the models they already make.

I think the mega designs were cool as fuck, but they were shit for balance. I just wish they would stop adding these annoying gimmicks in the first place.

You can claim all you want that GF wasted money, but you're gonna need proof that they did all this. I mean, sure, you can claim it all you want, and hey, I'll agree that MU could be shilling hard - But you're gonna need proof of that buddy.

Honestly, there are good reasons for not having Megas - it put a lot of pokemon in a box, at least with Dynamaxing, every pokemon species has a chance at using it and frankly, Megas could be easily be considered to be a broken concept - it's easy to say "fix, patch up, and introduce new ones" but there's a lot to consider especially when those elements need to have a lot of trial and error.

Kinda figured that. You can say alot about GF, but I really doubt they have it in them to just pull a stunt similar to Bethesda like that.
