Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

So, anyone get to keep/lose any life long friends along the way?
>catch a shiny Parasect in X/Y's friend safari, name him Rudy Jones like the Parasite from Superman
>shit nature, box him
>a while later decide to complete the pokedex, had never made a serious attempt before now
>it's only 800+ pokemon, how hard could it be?
>Rudy conveniently learns both spore and false swipe, start using him to catch pokemon
>takes months of catching, trading, and breeding, but I finally complete it
>Rudy is almost lv.100 after having caught 'em all
>get him all the way there shiny hunting
>S/M comes out, transfer Rudy so he can help me catch even more pokemon
>eventually full list of pokemon cut from sword and shield gets leaked on the internet
>vast majority of my favorite pokemon made it in, feel like I won the lottery
>a few days go by, check the list again to see if a friend's favorite got in
>notice Parasect didn't make it
>the pokemon who helped me complete the dex, gone
>the pokemon who's probably spent more time in my party than any of my others combined, gone
>completely took him for granted, only realizing how much of a bro he really was after I learned I couldn't take him to Galar

I know he's not really "gone", but it still kinda stings. Catching pokemon won't be the same without him :(

I'm in a rather odd position in regards to memories, as I effectively played through the series always backwards with Y being my break-in title (I grew up with parents who fully bought into the "Pokemon is the devil!" bullshit during the satanic panic era). But nonetheless I have stories to tell.

About a decade ago, before I had gotten Y, a friend of mine had his Pokemon Stadium at his grandma's house, so we picked out teams. I've always loved birds, ostriches in particular, so I choose Dodrio. I didn't think I'd win since I barely knew anything but Dodrio somehow mopped the floor with my friend's team, and that's really where it all started.

Fast forward to Y and lo and behold, there Doduo was on an early route. Caught one and named him Triclyde (after the triple-headed snake from Mario 2, looking back it was an odd name choice but whatever). I loved using him so much, and despite switching around mons several times out of inexperience he never left my side. He was the first mon of mine to make it to lv. 100, and he resides in the Bank to this day.

Then I got into breeding for shiny mons (which became a massive autistic addition to the point where I hatched hundreds of shinies but that another can of worms) and after some surprise hatches where I wasn't even try (my 4th egg in ORAS was a Snivy, my luck was insane) I finally decided to go for a green Doduo. And once I got him, to my utter surprise he got the perfect 5 IV spread, my first shiny to have perfect stats and it was my favorite mon.

Named him Kiwi, and he joined me in many online battles with many victories. So, needless to say it hurt especially with him when I found out he didn't survive the Galar Purge. In fact, of my favorites of each type, only 5 made it through. It's been pretty rough...

Haha I was thinking the exact same thing, what a bizarre reaction to that question. I think that's the look of pure guilt. What do you guys think?

looks like the look you have when you have a gun to your head.

It's extra suspicious when just last year Masuda remarked how they wanted to avoid another situation like the jump from Gameboy to Advance where the "original Dexit" happened, and how he assured that fans of Let's Go will be able to transfer their beloved mons to future generations, only for over half of Kanto's roster to end up among the fallen.

Something serious happened between then and now. My guess is TPC pulled some puppet strings and forced GF to make Dexit happen, and I guarantee you it's because of the theory that Home will be one big scheme to hold old mons hostage and force people to pay up to keep them alive. Not to excuse their own general incompetence but considering the utter lack of a realistic excuse as to why so many mons were cut and how they keep dodging the questions with new excuses and "Just use Home!", I think it's apparent something more sinister is going on, and it ain't entirely of GF's doing.

Its actually only 48 Kanto Pokemon so that's like 68% of the Kanto dex cut. Since they basically have everything to put them in the games from Let's Go, it's incredibly bizarre.

Part of me wants to say they didn't want to be accused of Kanto favoritism (of note, Masuda's personal favorite, Psyduck, was axed) but that clearly happened anyway to the point where Charizard has become the most hated Pokemon in the series' history. The more likely explanation is, say it with me now, Home. Notice how many specifically choice popular mons were cut. All the starters, all the legendaries, Scizor, Garchomp, Salamence, Volcarona, Crobat, Skarmory, Metagross, ones that will be sorely missed by a greater number of people than the more unpopular ones.

They didn't dump all of them of course, darlings like Tyranitar and Mimikyu are still around so SWSH doesn't become Unova 2.0 and drive fans away, but still more than enough to make Home that much more enticing for future games when they do allow those missing favorites back.

Oh lookie here. That Dutch interview that gave more BS answers as to why EXP Share is permanent? There's also this exert (again, a Western article and nothing about this in Japan):

The missing National Dex is of course also discussed, of which we mainly want to know whether it will return in the future. Will there be an update or a third game? According to Masuda, Game Freak wants to continue the approach for Sword and Shield:

“We now have no plans to make the pokémon that are missing in the Galar pokédex in-game available. That is an approach that we want to continue with Pokémon games in the future. Of course, up to now it has not been possible to encounter every pokémon in every game, so people had to transfer it from old games via Pokémon Bank to the new game, for example. ”

On the one hand, that is understandable, because Masuda previously indicated that Game Freak does not have the manpower to animate all pokémon if it also wants to introduce new game play features. On the other hand, Pokémon is pretty much the largest franchise in the world and it is not unreasonable to expect a complete Pokédex from the new parts. As a compromise, however, Junichi Masuda claims that the Pokémon Home app, which will be released in 2020, will be the place to collect pokémon from all games

"Currently, the Pokémon Home app is under development, where players can collect their different pokémon, and only pokémon in the Galar-Pokédex can be transferred from there to Sword and Shield," he says. "But the way of playing is actually not very different from before with Pokémon Bank: until now you have always been able to meet only the pokémon of a certain region."

He continues: “We encourage people to use Pokémon Home to collect their pokémon from old games there. From there, they MIGHT be able to take it to other games in the future. So take good care of your old pokémon, because you MIGHT be able to go out with them again in the future."

It's not for animations, it's not for balance, it's not for regional setting, it's all for a goddamn forced subscription that doesn't even guarantee it'll allow your mons a place to go in the future. Fucking knew it.

Not to mention that some of the roster that didn't get culled, i.e. Mawile, Sableye, Manectric; also got directly nerfed because their Mega Evolutions won't be available in SW/SH, and same with Mimikyu being unable to use it's exclusive Z-Move because those won't be available either. Also, their decision to cull both Ditto and Smeargle, both which are very crucial when it comes to breeding, is also a big WTF decision from GF.

Some dude called LiftingNerdy posted Pokemon Sword and Shield cartridges on his Instagram, and went to /vp/ to attention whore. Instead of going straight to one of the big reputable game-rippers to leak the game, he posted his instagram handle and immediately got maimed by Nintendo's ninja lawyers. What a fucking idiot, I hope he gets sued into the dirt and his shitty Mom n Pop store goes down with him. Imagine fucking your real life and online businesses up as well as making yourself unhirable because you wanted to advertise your shitty little Instagram.

Edit: Streamable with sound that he posted to prove it was real before he got shanked. Who wants to go to Yogurt Land? :^)

What a dingus. Asked for that one. Game companies are brutal about enforcing street dates.

Just gotta wait until Friday morning. I am a physical copy purist when I can so I am dragging my ass to Target early.

Gigantomax Lapras, dynamax raid rewards screens, new moves, stat changes.

Based leaker said thats just about it for him in terms of leaks unless he finds something really cool. Now to waot for that cartridge leak; we've already had several people get the physicals games, and any day now there will be one who'll leak it without doxxing themselves or attention whoring.

Ditto is in thankfully.

Raids give TR rewards and exp candies, which should reduce the grind a lot.
I guess Gamefreak is trying to make raids the big postgame event, hopefully they turn out well.
the artstyle on this game is pretty nice imo

It's more like he knows what he's caused the discussion of the game to become, that in a way he ruined how his co worker's efforts will be seen by many by telling people about the cut and the reasoning he said being different depending on who he's talking to. Personally I don't think Masuda is a bad guy, bad at pr and should stick to making music rather then game design yes but he's not bobby kotek. that or he knows how crazy 5ch can get when pissed and is thinking "Oh god the Gaijin better not let Japan know or I swear to god I will kill myself". either or.
it's sorta a look like this

Yeah that will just make things worse, especially if Home has 3d models and Gen 8 doesn't

This is an old interview that just got translated right? if so IDK if it reflects their current attitude or not, either way BASED DUTCH for making game freak be honest about their producers tier scam with home.

I mean as you said the game will be obsolete in a year so he can just jump onto ultra sword and shield whenever that comes out. He'll just repeat the same song and dance with those.
I really think the only good videos to come out of this whole thing was Monroe's stuff but that might be due to how his video on Gen 6 and 7 really did help me place a finger on what I feel about the series nowadays, his gen 8 vid doubly so.
