Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

Really? They took something from the Bounty Hunter video game?

Credit where credit is due, that's pretty cool, it's interesting to think of such an expensive Disney project in 2019 borrowing something from a mostly forgotten 2002 PS2 game.
Let's not kid ourselves. The Rat probably has a few interns on payroll now combing the archives for any memberberries they can parade.

Its okay, watch it.
No, thanks.

EDIT

Right now on Twitter, SonicMovie has more than half of the mentions of TheMandalorian. Congrats Disney, this is how you want to kill Netflix?

The most stupid film of all time has almost the same popularity as your "100 million dollars per episode" r.eta.rd series. Netflix is shaking at this moment, I think their executives won't sleep today.

the epsiode came out at a bad time, but it was good enough, there will be alot of chatter in the next days.
first you will see fans praising it for beeing star wars, than you will see sjws hating on it because it wasnt woke.
also people will start attacking JJ and his crew realy soon.

It's out? I thought it came on the 17th...

If anybody cares to review / spoil please do so.
Here's some spoilers then: I'll probably write something more detailed later if I have the time, but to sum it up, "The Mandalorian" (still has no name) gets hired by "The Client" to track down "The Asset" who turns out to be a baby member of Yoda's species. I'm guessing the baby will be how the writers will force the main character to go to Dagobah to give us the unneeded explanation about Yoda's people. Hopefully they don't drop names and just keep it as obscure as possible. The planet this all takes place on is not Tatooine... Instead the main setting is another Not-Tatooine called Arvala 7... I kind of suspected this would happen when they called nu-Jawas "Off-World Jawas" on merch.

For some minor info, the Imperial Remnants are canon again, and some remnants now function as mercenaries and thugs for hire. Mythosaurs are also canon again (although they were talked about before in Galaxy's Edge but since nobody hardly paid attention to park lore nor the park itself, its not surprising it went unnoticed) which were first mentioned in the 80s comics and were the origin of the skull symbol on Mandos. There's also a few recycled alien costumes from Solo and TLJ, which was already leaked before, but seeing them again is cringy, thankfully there were at least some pre-Disney aliens about and it was nice seeing a Quarren again, which I think hasn't had an appearance in live action Disney canon, although they were better off dropping the nu-aliens or redesigning them into whatever alien they're clearly knock-offs of (FYI to save some cash, they will be re-using a lot of costumes and props from Solo and TLJ here in the future...). As for a review, I already gave my two cents above your post.
That seems to be what most are saying. Even me. It definitely has a high budget. High quality special effects, expensive production value, lots of little easter eggs here and there but the characters and story are just really lame or flat. I probably wouldn't have an issue with that if not for the fact that we already know this show is just going to turn into First Order and sequel tie-in fellating so they can force you to like the films. They also didn't waste anytime in revealing another member of Yoda's species...

On a less important note, I just realized that the main character's ship is designed after "Jaster's Legacy", the one Jango Fett used to have in the old canon Bounty Hunter video game (PS2) before he got the Slave I. And the midget dewbacks are actually Blurrgs from the second Ewoks movie. At least the references here aren't as lame or as hamfisted as in most nu-media, but you just kinda wonder what's the point when you know these references mean literally nothing in this new timeline, unless Disney really is that desperate to attract that old part of the fanbase they alienated.
hate it because it wasnt woke.
Give it time. It'll turn eventually. If it doesn't go woke, I'll be pleasantly surprised, but that seems unlikely. And even if it doesn't, that would only make it slightly more watchable rather than automatically good. Best chance this show has for longevity is to just drop the FO/sequel connection and just focus on its own story and try not to make the characters super important. Best stories for me are ones about a character going through his own trials and adventures rather than existing as a necessary plot device for a more popular character.

That game sucks though.
What was wrong with it? It had solid gameplay, a good story, excellent level design and great characters, with it even doing a better job of expanding Jango's character and making you sympathize with him more than Attack of the Clowns did. Its only flaw was not having more levels, having too many repetitive enemies early on and needing more difficulty.

Disney, KK, JJ and the whole clique, just kill yourselves. Please, do this good for humanity and suck a bullet.

Mandalorian isn't on the top 20 anymore, so I can't screencap, but it died with barely 20k mentions.

Was Kotor uncanoned though? I know that Clone Wars wasn't. And I know the Novels and Comics obviously were.
Everything that fell under EU was decanonized, which includes, comics, novels, short stories, cartoons, and video games (as in anything outside the films). Not sure why people assume the games are excluded from the category. They only kept Filoni Wars due to that it was the last major ongoing property under Lucasfilm at the time of the buyout and they wanted to use the fanbase it created as a stepping stone for Rebels.

Speaking of Mandalorian, Disney+ launches today and apparently there’s technical problems with its launch.

Thanks. I wonder if they'll now try to pull Kotor back under the aegis though, like the way they Thrawn-baited Rebels. It's one of the more popular and widely known EU materials. I'd wager as many people played Kotor as watched Clone Wars. (Which I mostly loved, barring some shit plots.)

So I saw it
I know some one who works in a higher end consulting capacity for Lucasfilm. He said almost no one in Lucas or Disney management believed in Dave Filoni.....and now they are betting the company on him but they are playing it super safe and having Jon Favreau hand hold him.

Luckily this is Jon Favreau after he has taken his brain medicine. And it Jon and Dave's creative energies both working together well and at their top form.

I don't like the high digital resolution. Everything is also put in a dark and grungy color palate so it looks like you bought "pre-Stained" jeans at the store. It doesnt really look the rusted and broken down cowboy look that it wants to go for.

The music is very MEH

The acting is all good, but none of it is great [But the story doesnt have a lot for anyone to work with]

Story is very basic, BUT its trying to set the tone of the show [which it does well], show you that they respect the world in a way contemporary SW hasnt [which they accomplish well], and do the unfolding mystery box story structure that Streaming shows all do.

It builds the world up very subtly.

Is it good enough to get Disney Plus for it?
No....Not even close.

Does Disney trust that people will want to use their back catalog enough to use the service?
No (otherwise they would let you bing The Mandalorian on day 1)

They were technically. The GoT guys were "supposedly" planning on making a KOTOR movie, but now that they dropped out and Iger claims no more movies are coming, I'm guessing KOTOR is out the window, which is for the best considering that they probably would've turned Revan into a nu-female OC's bitch and bringing none of his companions back except HK-47, which they would either butcher or have him become into the Wendig-created atrocity that is Robot-Deadpool Mr. Bones. Other than that, Revan is only getting a toy made now and he had a non-canon appearance in a crappy mobile game with a few other EU characters.

Good to hear that Favreau is on his happy pills for the time being. Might keep this thing from going to complete shit, which is unlikely if they're still forcing this FO-Sequel pandering. If not, that might make this show decent if they keep it as distant as possible from the sequels and Disney shit, but even that won't save Disney Wars or make Disney+ a worthwhile investment. Like at all.

Well. Disney brought us Ackbar's son in a comic, just to have said son throw out the line that his dad essentially never was there for him.

In that same vein, I expect this show to reveal that Yoda is the father of this baby and that he didn't hide from the Empire on Dagobah, he was hiding there from his ex-lover, so he wouldn't have to pay child support and alimony.

Also a Revan Easter Egg was in TLJ

I said something like this to @Judge Holden before. Mark my words, they're going to retcon Yoda into a deadbeat redneck or a shitty dad who only turned out halfway decent because he was "properly educated" by Kathleen Yaddle.

How is Werner Herzog in the show? Is it just a cameo like I suspect?

Yeah... I don't need Dumb &Dumber to give me a Muppet Babies version of Kotor. That can go back to development hell where it belongs. I just wouldn't mind the game series as it stands getting nudged back into canon status. I mean, Mouse-Wars hasn't contradicted it, really

Rebels altered Malachor V to the point where it has little in common with its original incarnation outside the name though. The bearded terror that is Chuck Wendig also implied that his new sassy gay Deadpool robot from Aftermath was actually a "reborn" HK-47. I'd rather KOTOR didn't share anything with this new universe, especially with how dull and bleak its future is.
