They don't have to talk about it anymore. It got funded, so they get to keep the money as long as they produce something down the road. Like you said, all it really needs to be is Cosmo whining about his life in his cave with sad background music. Half of it could easily just be past footage of him and his speedruns. One person should have little trouble throwing this "film" together in a few weeks.

Unless this Wagner chick plans to use this documentary as a launching pad for her film career, there's not much reason to go beyond the minimum.
She may think it's just that. This is Wagner's directorial debut, so you would think she'd give a shit. Her history is being some low level producer monkey or researcher for TV shows.

whenever I see dumb kickstarters or patreons like this I always wish I could see where the money is coming from. this doc, $51,519 raised from 760 people is an average of $67.79 apiece. I am going to make a wild guess that his average viewers are not wealthy, the typical donation was far smaller with several very large donations making the goal possible.

You can see how much people spent, kinda. The backer levels give numbers. There was a $3k donation at the 11th hour so the project didn't fail. It's just as likely that the makers had a friend or family member ensure it got funded and then gave them back their money as it is whales funded it. I was struck by the tism and did a breakdown because I've never actually done the numbers on a kickstarter and I'm bored waiting for it to come out. Many things always seem fishy to me about various kickstarters and this just confirmed things.

Total = $25,652 (minimum donation for reward amount)
595 backers as listed by rewards

442 backers donated $60 or less to the project. Now granted that is based on the minimum donation to get a reward. The $25k can be explained, rather unconvincingly to me, by overpaying for rewards and whaling. I personally think more likely there was at least some element of the makers taking out loans/using credit cards or getting friends/family to put up money that pushed them over $50k so they could get the other $25K. They still would have been just barely short of the $51,519 they got even if every backer donated double their reward level.

What's interesting to me is the missing 165 missing backers. Does the total backer number at the top include people who have asked for refunds or donate outside of getting rewards? Can you even do that? Hopefully someone who's delved into kickstarters can comment as I've never looked into them. I also archived the completed kickstarter because why not at this point. I also swear there were 5 backers for the second $500+ reward when I started and then it was 4 when I archived it, but who knows.

ah rad, this is good work. I actually expected more <$10 payments so it's interesting to see a more even spread. I guess being listed in the credits was a huge draw considering the size of the $20 tier.

maybe there is a privacy option to not display your donations? I don't think you're allowed to take your money back after a kickstarter finishes, when it's spent it's spent.

I know that you can definitely back for less than the lowest pledge. Of course that's usually for kickstarters that will have a pledge manager so you can pledge later after the campaign is closed. Board games do that all the time.

If he kills himself, which would be a tragedy, she will become a perfect, beautiful woman in heaven. Even people in this thread will post heartfelt posts about how bad they feel for not appreciating her radiance as woman when she was alive.
He would not only become the perfect woman but also lose his asshole, and maybe date Randy Stair in heaven.

I suspect a lot of these crowdfunded schemes get the numbers boosted by having friends and relatives donate a pile of cash.

Yes. "No thanks, I just want to help the project."

You can enter any positive integer amount of currency (up to $10000 for the US, depends on the country) and pick a single reward up to that sum or nothing at all.
Choosing more than the minimum for a particular tier is how people pledge for addons on kickstarter while the campaign is running.
Pledging a dollar and choosing nothing is how people (used to?) comment on scam kickstarters until the creator rejects their pledges and thus bans them from the comment section.

I don't think kickstarter does refunds. Users who withdraw pledges or whose pledges get rejected by the creator are no longer backers. I'm not sure about failed (uncollected) pledges but either they remain on the tier they picked or vanish altogether.
If you do get a refund, it has to be from the project creator, who may or may not have the ability to get your pledge delisted from the site (because backer tiers get secret updates and reward surveys, it'd make sense for kickstarter to allow creators to file a completed refund with kickstarter staff and get the backer delisted).

Finally Narcissa loses the delusion that she can compete at anything. Let's Plays are a better fit for her mentality.
Kind of idiotic he didn't start doing this. Every successful speedrunner rarely play their main game anymore. Clint Stevens and Elajjaz included. To speedrun properly is to have a knack for game mechanics, as opposed to one-trick ponies like MMO streamers who lose their shit once they have to hold onto a controller.

If he just played 'cute' games and forced himself to giggle he'd probably have an audience of supportive trannies instead of indoctrinated goons with empty bank accounts.

These past few days Narcissa and Cybderdemon53a (Andera, who just so happens to have a thread on Kiwifarms) have been arguing nonstop about Yang vs Bernie. It's gone from gentle arguments to complete shit-flinging.

I really don't care enough to cap their entire argument and I don't think anybody would care in the first place, but here's some of the funnier parts.

Wasn't Cyberdemon a magapede before he trooned out or am I mixing up my lore ?

Yes, and a massive edgelord self-identifying troll. Their GDQ ban came from making 'political statements' with a MAGA hat on stream, but iirc arguably they were misidentified as the one who wore it.

"I don't have knowledge or an opinion of apartheid israel" :story:
I'm not aware of jews segregating from non-jews in Jewland, but if it is happening I don't mind. I'm in America, where we have strong feelings about former black segregation instead! We're here to measure our dicks in the arena of US politics, not World politics, sheesh!

Destiny-tier debating at its finest

Who would have known a conversation about diapers would be the thing that kills Narcissa's discord?

After this, she archived every channel on the server, even the upper ones. RIP.

Doubt we'll see anything new for a while, at least until the documentary.
