Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

I think there's a potential for the Mandalorian to be like a live-action Samurai Jack. This episode really felt like a Tartakovsky show.
I'm enjoying The Mandalorian a lot, it actually feels like Star Wars to me and so far (only seen the first episode) it doesn't have woke bullshit.

I know there were a few people bitching about them back in the summer but goddamn. How did BF2 get it right and FO didn't? They're on the same engine from the same publisher FFS.

So Jedi Fallen Order, can we talk about the fact that the story is all about Debra Wilson's character, the black woman with Graves' disease

The player character is just along for the ride, while her character is the one with the goal, she is the one with the plan, and its because of her that the antagonist is involved in the story as well.

Basically she is a former jedi padawan, and really powerful, did I forget to mention that she is really powerful? And the main villains hates her because it was her involvement in the local resistance against the empire that brought imperial attention to a surviving group of jedi, also she is the mentor character for the player character, and she doesn't even die by the end, why?

Also Debra Wilson is almost 60, why is the game pretending she is in her 20s?

They're actually not on the same engine. For once, EA didn't foist Frostbite on one of its studios. This was made in Unreal 4, which makes everything doubly confusing as all of Respawn Entertainment's games prior to this were made in Source.
So they still had to deal with all the consequences of changing engines (such as the developers learning how to work with a new toolset), while still paying another studio a licensing fee to use it, the expense of which was EA's primary motivation for forcing all their subsidiaries to use Frostbite to begin with.

What is going on over there?

I'm waiting for the inevitable crack before playing it, but it doesn't surprise me that they fucked it up. For all the posthumous hype that surrounded the Titanfall 2 campaign, which was stellar, I never felt that the story was its really strong suit, outside of the robot relationship. The gameplay was what made it so awesome. Specifically, involving the player in set pieces outside of just a QTE, and through a combination of the level design and movement mechanics, allowing the player to do really awesome shit on their own. All that to say, I'm not surprised that the story is lackluster. The gameplay looks really stiff tbh and most of the 'Uncharted' style actions, like the sliding and wall running seem incredibly scripted. Not at all like Titanfall where you could slide/wallrun anywhere.

Oh no shit? I knew about the Source aspect, but I assumed they were using Frostbite with the rampant motion blur I've seen in trailers. I'm surprised I hadn't heard of that before.

IGN gave Jedi Fallen Order a 9/10 and it has a decent Metacritic score. I don't know if it's a good game or overhyping a mediocre game, but I'm still going to wait until it's at least 30 before considering buying it.
I don't trust IGN for shit when it comes to reviews, but Metacritic is more reliable imo. But a decent Metacritic score is not surprising. Most were already saying beforehand that at best the game would be an average Force Unleashed ripoff or a generic action game in the same vein as Prince of Persia or Uncharted that played it safe as fuck with nothing really unique or innovating which seems to be the case. However it bothers me to no end how no "pro-reviewers" and journos are bothering to talk about how shitty the graphics are.

So we have Tattooine, not Tattooine 1, and Not Tattooine 2......
And instead of Moisture Farms its Vapor Farms, instead of Jawas its Offworld Jawas and instead of standard Trandoshans we get humanoid Trandoshans. It feels off. Like why not just use the regular names and appearance? Why not just have regular Jawas and Tatooine? Or if it can't be Tatooine why not use an underused or rarely used world from a past piece of media that actually feels unique instead of making a Tatooine knockoff?

On a side note, one very minor thing that bugs me (that's not that big of a deal but still something I'd like to share) is the implication that Yoda's species remains in a defenseless infantile state for what might be hundreds of years since the baby in the show is already said to be 50 years old. That seems awfully annoying and hazardous to be stuck in a perma-baby stage for over 100 or 200 years while only having a lifespan of about 900. It makes you more vulnerable to threats and its not exactly convenient for a number of reasons. Again the baby of the Yoda species might work better for me if they just left the age unknown and try to avoid any and all mention of its species and purpose aside from maybe revealing who its parents are. Also I keep seeing people claim this kid is Yoda's reincarnation even though it was born 20 years before the prequels. An interesting twist though would be that it was Yaddle and Yoda's child and that Yaddle herself let a kid behind after she was killed (although her death only happened in old canon while Disney canon just states that she left the Order for no real reason and didn't die, despite being a Jedi Master and that going against current Disney canon claiming that Dooku was the last master to leave the Order in the prequel era). But again, its a minor nitpick. Do whatever you want with the little goblin and his parents, just don't reveal the name of the species or say they're from Dagobah.

I think there's a potential for the Mandalorian
Its best hope for longevity is for them to just drop any connections to Disney shit and stop using Disney references while never bringing up the First Order. The newest episode did good in not using any sequel aliens or references and sticking mostly to old movie and old EU shit (unlike the first episode). The action was surprisingly well done too in a very Genndy fashion.

On a related note, one thing I recently read that did peak my interest is an interview with Dave Filoni that may imply that Disney may actually try to put the Mandalorian in a different continuity separate from their new shit. In said interview, Filoni reveals that the reason he created IG-11 instead of using an IG-88 duplicate is to avoid any contradictions with the old Expanded Universe, claiming further that he wants this show to not alienate old fans while attracting new ones with this revival (which is honestly what the fucktards at Disney should've done in the first place). Strangely episode 1 was directed by Filoni and it had some new aliens, but episode 2 which is not by Filoni has zero sequel references, so take that as you will.

The more you think about the Mandalorian, the less sense it makes, the more derivative it feels, and the emptier it becomes.
Sort of like TFA. This is a TFA situation again. Don't fall for the hype.

Which is why I"m not paying for the show at all and acquiring it through the high seas.

I'm glad disney is staying the hell away from KOTOR history as that would cause all sorts of rage that they would fuck up THAT timeline as well.

I'm just avoiding it outright, I'm just trying to make sure everyone here knows what they're getting into.
I wonder how the Cats Movie or Jumanji 2 will pan out by the way. TROS so far is shaping up to be, to steal a term, a short bus pileup, and I wonder how its competitors will do.

So far the only advertisement I've seen for episode nine on television was an ad where a girl tries to adopt a dog that looks like Chewbacca (the shelter uploaded pictures of the dog to the internet in an effort to get it adopted). The girl finally convinces her dad, but when they go in the dog has already been adopted. The kicker is there was a cat sitting in a nearby cage with a Vader costume on. That was it.

Question, my fellow tard brothahs, talking about something that has some quality to it.

The Force Unleashed
I played FU on the Wii, and it was actually super fun. The controls were alright, and me and my friend got a few hours of it playing the versus mode. Every once in a while we would smack each other with the Wii motes and use it as a 'tactical advantage' in the fight. Good times.

Never played the second one, and it didn't seem that interesting to me.

Looking back at the multiplayer the character select was actually pretty cool, and was one of my first introductions to the EU. God willing Mara Jade never shows up to get ruined by Disney.

I think it feels similar to TFA only in regards to the characters and locations being donut steel homages/knockoffs of pre-existing stuff that feels like its trying to take their place (I mean they could've just made a show that takes place in an unexplored period of Boba's life or an adaptation/improvement of his post-Sarlaac escape so they could have the actual IG-88 about). But what makes me naturally apprehensive about this show is the fact that it feels like a trap. It lulls you into a false sense of security with promises of returning to form and giving people what they wanted from the start and making you think that by supporting all SW content from now on you'll get more content like the Mandalorian, but then they hit you with more awful new content on par with the new Marvel comics trash and sequel shit while giving nothing that you actually want, only stuff they want and just used Mando to trick you (which itself then becomes a platform for shilling the First Order to you against your will), which we know they're doing based on what they revealed at NYCC which included a panel revealing that Kathleen Kenned wants her daughter to write an SW book and they want the Mandalorian to reveal the FO's origin (as well as possibly discussing wokeness) which no one gives a shit about. So even if we give our support to the Mandalorian, Disney-Lucasfilm is still planning on producing mountains of crap that nobody but them and the drones want. Unless, everything revealed at NYCC was just for the investors and they're actually planning to axe all that shitty stuff if IX bombs and focus more on disconnected Mandalorian-tier stuff, but that's just overly optimistic speculation, and as long as these people are in charge of Lucasfilm and Disney's execs are still made up out of touch idiots, then nothing will likely change much if at all. But if SW should die if IX under-performs, at least the Mandalorian was probably the least insulting way for it to die (assuming its death comes before they get to the FO shit). But if I'm wrong, and they do drop the FO crap and Disney Wars shilling and wokeness, then by all means go for it, but again this is Disney we're talking about. I'm also starting to see Disney drones resort to the "SW was always shit" argument as some kind of backup plan should IX fail, as some sort of method to prove that the sequels are shit but they were the closest thing to good SW ever had. Makes little sense, but nothing usually does with these people.

That explains it perfectly. I said it feels "uncanny valley" of Star Wars; almost but not quite there yet. Now I realize that, while that criticism holds, it was the feeling of a trap that had me uneasy the whole time.

Also look at this webm I found. It makes me feel wonderful feelings.

Dragon Ball will be fine, stupid gaijin jews will make some dumb movie people will laugh at but there will still be good content being made in mighty Nippon. The last Broly movie was really good. Tbh I can't wait to torrent and watch the disney dragon ball, with Henry Cavill as Goku, that ugly stars war asian girl as Bulma (can't have pretty actresses in current year because being pretty is sexist), Idris Elba as Piccolo and to subvert expectations Krillin falls in love with Android 17 not 18. I can already confirm the villain in the movie will be Cell because in the current year you can't have Frieza (could be interpreted as making fun of gays) or Buu (fatphobic caricature) as villains.
Nope, you can totally make Frieza the villain; but what they'll do is make him Trump but without the comedy. Nothing like him getting the Ginyu Force happy meals and they pose with the toys or something. Him just lounging about and eating bootleg Big Macs instead of sipping wine, since Cooler died due to alcoholism. Him saying to Zarbon to "get them outta here" to a bunch of dead bodies on his planet. Him saying he's going to make his empire great again, and the Nam,ekians will pay for it... with Dragon Balls.

Nope just REEEEEEEE EVILLL~

Since that is all they can do.

As for Mandolorian, I'm keeping my distance for now since I still think they're going to fuck it up soon.

Mandalorian episode 2
I enjoyed this episode quite a bit for the most part. It's fun watching the protagonist beat down aliens and subhumans. I like how they made him fairly ruthless, he doesn't think twice about blowing Jawas away or igniting a flamethrower in their faces.

The Sandcrawler chase felt very Indy. It's nice that the Mandalorian gets the shit beat out of him regularly and his armor gets fucked up and he isn't an invulnerable superhero.

The nostalgia bait is there but it isn't blatantly insulting like Disney's other recent SW output. I have a bad feeling that they are going to have the Mando turn into a soft fuck and not collect on the Yoda child bounty. Anyway it's a decent show so far, I give it a 6 out of 10

Overhyped mediocre game. I only watched a half hour or so, but it felt completely soulless.

IIRC Titanfall 2 sold like shit, which is a pity because i can see it's gameplay transitioning extremely well to a SW setting.
