E-shop version of Pokemon Sword/Shield allegedly deleting all the save data on OTHER games - They didn't just delete a bunch of Pokemon, they are deleting your save files too

Yeah really. Considering how the Switch has opened up the floodgates to all sorts of eShop garbage, I'm surprised it's a Pokemon game with which I'm first hearing about this.

I've bought some downright trash for less than a dime on the eShop just for shits and giggles and didn't have any problems.
I assume its just because they thought "its pokemon it will sell anyway, game freaks been around for 20 years they aren't the best but they aren't LGN" did minimal QA to get the game out faster and then this happens

I'm beginning to think mainline Pokemon game sales are the last of Game Freak and The Pokemon Company's worries. Physical merchandise can be manufactured and sold faster than a game and Pokemon Go has probably made them more money than the entirety of their mainline game sales to date. If revenue is their sole objective it doesn't make sense to invest much time into game development outside of Pokemon Go

Yeah, but it's still sad to see them half-ass one of their longest standing and most popular franchises. I always got the feeling the Nintendo was actually one of the few companies that still cared about the quality of their games somewhat.

Don't get me wrong, they want their dollar and they've done some stupid and scummy things in the past ( like with how they've handled copyright laws) and I know that the concept of "brand loyalty" to anything outside of maybe a mom & pop shop is for morons. It's the fact that they've almost always shown that they've at least cared about the quality of a game, even if the game turned out to be a stinker you could still see some effort and love behind it. But this is just "Bethesda bad".

I still think they care about the games they make, and if this game does turn out to be a stinker, hell, it'll be one of the first for the Switch, but it's still sad to see that they might have half-assed it. I dunno, maybe they should take a step back from The Pokemon Franchise for a bit, the games have been coming out like Clockwork for the past two-and-a-half decades and maybe a bit of a break from this cycle could re-invigorate the franchise.

Maybe this will push Nintendi to rethink the faggot rule that some games arent allowed cloud save.
Nintendo should actually rethink the level of sandboxing they (apparently don't) subject game software to. There's no reason a game inserted into the system should be able to cause damage outside of its own data.

Well Game Freak isn't lmao

Where were you when they pile drived the sequel to Thousand Year Door?

And lets not forget just how badly they fucked up Star Fox 3 whole times.

Pokémon Go has a steadily looming shelf-life. They can extend it by slowly trickling out new Pokémon, but that doesn’t change the fact that they’re GOING to eventually hit the end of the Pokedex, and I can’t really imagine what they have planned for that eventuality.

Like I've said, they've made some stinkers, you are 100% correct in your assessment. But that always felt more out of stupidity rather then just being lazy.

With Paper Mario 3, it felt like they were trying to force it to utilize the Wii motion controls, I played about half-way through the game and I could tell they put effort into it, they just put in the wrong direction. Never played Star Fox 3 tho but I heard it had similar complaints.

Super paper mario definitely carried over the same soul that ttyd had. Just not the most appealing gameplay, the writing was definitely enough to carry the game imo.
To be fair the later games got fucked because of miyamoto’s meddling, just make a game without him finding out, problem solved!!

Mario kart 8 was definitely laziness, the game's battle mode was nothing but mirrored tracks from the racing mode.

The whole slew of NSMB games were all souless husks of mario.

There also a slew of mario spinoff titles like Mario Sports Mix which were pretty awful and just lacking in substance.

Mario Kart 8 also did weird things like shortening the n64 rainbow road to a single lap but at least we got an F zero themed track.
Despite all the shortcomings of a whole slew of games mentioned none of those games literally broke your console

I loved that game as a kid :(

If Miyamoto ever got his own thread here, his thoughts on Star Fox would be front and center.

Fans: "Star Fox 64 was great, just do that again for goodness' sake"

Miyamoto: "No, every Star Fox game needs to have something innovative. How about some headache-inducing shit where you have to keep an eye on two different screens with different perspectives and also there's motion controls nearly a decade after people got sick of them because fuck you"

Iwata's sudden death the same year Star Fox Zero came out wasn't due to cancer, it was because he told Miyamoto his ideas were terrible so Miyamoto had him Hillary Clinton'd.

I don't think it's been mentioned yet but the chance if this affecting you Is (edit: effectively) 0 unless you:

Are using a bootleg/super cheap SD card

Hacked the game for items with a limited obtainable amount, such as masterballs.

Running hacked firmware

This is very similar to the crashes that some people got when Smash Ultimate released. The hysteria spread before it came out that only people who bought fake shit or hacked their system were effected.

Oof... if this were a restaurant, we would need a Gordon Ramsay or two...

"This game is so fucking undercooked, they are building a pokeholocaust memorial for it!!!"

The American guy that had this happen was...
1. Using a proper digital download
2. Good quality SD card
3. Proper firmware

I don't understand how a cheap SD card will cause a crash like this which then deletes all data. A cheap SD card would be very slow and fragile, making it easily break. The saved data might get corrupted, however there's no way that files will just get completely deleted. Not sure about hacked firmware, I'm not a cheap nigger in my teenage years anymore, don't need hacked firmware for piracy.

For people objecting to scores, it's not that far off. We are seeing astronomical disparity here. Shills gave it an 8.1/10 and users gave it 3.4. This disparity is just way too large to brush off as "entitled manbabies bombing reviews". Sure, it's possible to bomb it with scripts and shit, but then people get that triggered for a reason. Even if we take a liberal approach to the bombings, I doubt the game scored above 6 with truthful reviews considered. That's being extremely liberal here, I'd personally put it at 5 or 4 due to its popularity and literally astronomical player base. Essentially, I don't think review bombing would have a big impact either way. This isn't some small game with 1000 players where review bombing will throw shit off.
