The admin "Zyid" (a character from the books) seemed to run things to the extent that I sometimes thought it was Isamu's sockpuppet. Isamu made direct posts of his own, though I got the sense that he was sometimes passing proclamations through Zyid as he does today on reee.

It was a fun little place which, due to the theme of the books, had a teenaged userbase that overlapped a little with places like school-survival.net (which has a thread here). It didn't grow much though. I guess Lord Fukui fucked off when he was done with the books or something.

Those with mod/admin access kept the bots at bay as well as possible considering that they could only work with the existing features of the forum software. Eventually, some PHP module or other broke, it became impossible to register or recover passwords, and the only guy who could do something about it was nowhere to be seen. The forum software deterioratad further. At some point, the link to the forum was removed from the main page of the site. Now the site appears to be down entirely, though he has continued to renew the domain name.

The peak of this was around 10 years ago, but the forum took a while longer to die.

Minor correction on that: it was an extra chapter (like Chapter 52.1 or something like that) that was released alongside the original web novel. Effectively official fan fiction. It wasn't in any subsequent adaptations, like the light novel, but its still all but said (though not shown on screen) that Asuna and Kirito had sex inside SAO. Anyway, we now return to the shit show that is Resetera. Carry on.
