  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.

Should the Phil forum be retired and replaced with a thread in the general Lolcow section?

I don't care what Phil thinks of us should we sent it to Spergatory or close it/whatever because he won't even be able to do anything to the site to begin with apart from just useless pointless LARPing.

However, if it's really about lack of content or how content has gone stale, there's times where CWC had less content but we still left his subforum up. and in the end we got a bit more and look where it is now (quality aside, of course). If that's the case, I say leave it be for another month.

If he really relies on this forum to get content, then really not a good idea to leave this one up. I won't be surprised if he has an account here either.
Hispanic Hitlermobile is his account.

I think both Chris and ADF need just a thread now to be honest. Chris and ADF having a whole forum with threads for every tweet they make, is like 2 senile old royalty who used to be busy, but now just have a large empty, dusty palace each, staffed by loyal servants who keep every room clean out of ritual, even though they are now unused.

Phil was an interesting foil that I could point to whenever somebody started reciting the narrative that KF only attacks "minorities." I could always point to DSP as as an example of a straight white male who is truly exceptional, and receieves a lot of attention here for being such. His specific cow phenotype is that he's a gigantic dumbass who repeatedly steps on his own dick. No other qualifications needed.

As convinent as it was to shatter the pre-conceived views of snowflakes as to this site's purpose, it's worth a reminder that nobody should give a single solitary fuck what outsiders actually think. It's not as if this site exists to actually change people's minds about anything. That extends to the concerns raised in this thread that we ought to keep Phill's subforum so that he doesn't feel he has "won."

In the end, @The Un-Clit's missive is entirely well reasoned. If he's not funny anymore, he's simply not funny anymore. I don't think we should have a quota on different types of cows, or sacrifice our integrity for the sake of "optics."

Moreover, in the interim period, we got a subforum on Yaniv. Who has been an absolute gold mine of content. Out with the old, in with the new. We're in no danger of contracting, as there will never be a shortage of exceptional people.

So I vote Yes.

Also if they get rid of the Phil board, they should get rid of the tommy tooter board, that guy's even more boring than phil. The threads have an average of like 4 posts

Tommy is genuinely interesting, but only really when examining his background (watch the two part MATI video). The ongoing content is rather meh. It basically consists of him chimping out at KF, and us making fun of him for doing so. Rinse and repeat.

It also doesn't help that Sneasel recently fucked off. He was the conductor of that crazy train.

A fact which I have mixed opinions of. Some things were really funny. Like how he called Nick Rekieta on stream in order to find out if he was Null's attorney. On the other hand, I can't help but think the Farms was artificially keeping him on life support, and Sneasel was the ringleader in that. Did he pozload my neghole? I dunno if I'm qualified to say. I like the guy, but I also don't like astroturfing.

Tommy is maybe the second least interesting person on here, after darksydephil

In a relative sense, considering we're confining this discussion to cows who have subforums, sure.

I think he's interesting, I just don't think he's "deserves his own subforum" interesting. At least not anymore. There's even an objective measurement that can be applied here in the form of thread replies. I know half the site probably hates Weebwars too, but it's at least well trafficked.

Question is, if Yaniv replaces DSP, is there anybody to replace Tommy? Again, I tend to lead towards the position that subforum count doesn't matter, as long as they're justified by user interest. If we're down one, it shouldn't matter.

I don't think interest is the only deciding factor in having a subforum. Plenty of cows with pretty active threads don't have subforums because the antics of said cow are straightforward enough to follow with a single thread. Even if you miss some of the conversation or don't want to read through all the unread posts since your last visit, you can jump to the most recent page or two and more or less get back into things. I'll use Onison's cow thread as an example, since that's one of the one's that keeps jumping up in pages everytime I visit. Multiple things are generally being discussed, but it is all generally connected and easy to follow the conversation.

In comparison, before the subforum, trying to keep up with Yaniv's actions, especially in the early days, was difficult because there was so much going on. One page might be talking about his recent tribunal hearings, but then if you jump ahead a few pages you're reading about tweets from several years ago, interspersed with posts about him being a doctor or something about his mother etc. Even if you were actively following the initial thread, all the crosstalk made it hard to coherently follow things.

I think Phil's cow content has become simplified to the point a single thread can contain it. The biggest advantage I think to keeping the subforum is it's a good way for newcomers who have never heard of Phil to jump into things. Unlike some of the other cows, Phil isn't particularly infamous outside of here. I can safely say I only found out about him because I saw the subforum and got curious.

You guys know the moment you retire this forum DPS is going to accidentally stream himself getting fucked by his wife wearing a strap on, right?

It's just how life works, the moment you quit something is the moment before it would have finally paid off.

This isn't the DSP forum, guys. There's another Phil that's been a lolcow for far longer. Look at where you're posting.

Reactions: The Un-Clit
We’re the only ones who have ever given Phil any attention. Losing his own forum will upset him more than anything.

I’m sure, eventually, he’s getting to do something else dumb and give us lots of content and when that happens, maybe he’ll get his forum recreated or something. For now, Phil is just boring. I say close it up and maybe reopen it when Phil goes back to school or gets kicked out of his apartment or when he inevitably moves to another new city.

I voted "No", simply because "Not yet" isn't an option. I might change my vote once we get a good idea of what to do if the board is closed.

I'd say give it until the beginning of 2020 before we close the sub-forum and make it a general thread.

That being said, I do like some of the ideas that others proposed, like making the forum visible only to members again or maybe making it a sub-forum of the Rat King board.

Phil is a very boring cow right now and doesn't do much to warrant their activity, but the same can be said of Tommy Tooter and Brianna Wu. However, Phil is also one of those "legacy lolcows" who helped shape the culture of the Farms, so I must admit, I'll be sad to see it go away.

Phil tends to have long periods of boring punctuated by big changes that come out of nowhere, so there's a part of me that's thinking something interesting will happen the moment we close the forum down.

Then again, part of why Phil was so active was because of insiders like Ravenor and Tweaker and the presence of Toren.

Does Chris REALLY warrant a full forum anymore?

Out of all the subforums, I think we kinda HAVE to keep that one, forever, for historical purposes, don't we? It would feel wrong to not have it. Everything else is fleeting, but KF wouldn't exist but for Chris.

Kinda like how the U.S. Navy keeps the USS Constitution in perpetual commission, even if it is obsolete as a warship.

Chris has his own forum partly because of the origin of the Farms. There's also the fact that Chris has a bad habit of going all quiet and then becoming very active and worthy of interest out of the blue. Especially with stuff like Sockness and the Dimensional Merge delusions.

Also, Chris has a "endgame" scenario that most of his followers are waiting for. Barb is still alive and her death is going to be one of those major events that will either make or break Chris, and Null himself has said in the past that he's only keeping the Chris forum alive until Barb dies.
