No time to shower when TLJ takes place hours after TFA ended. The New Republic got reduced from a galactic superpower to 12 ships faster than I can take a shit. Hey if other galaxies and dimensions are canon now maybe the Star Wars galaxy is just a shitty space 3rd world country. Pretending the Republic lasted 1000 generations is just their version of WE WUZ.

oh man, did you really have to remind me of that shit, I almost managed to repress it.
which reminds me of another thing - rey grew up all her life on not!tatooine and stayed longer on that dustball than anakin, she must hate sand more than anything, yet when she sees a lake for the first time on takodana it doesn't even faze her (iirc mauler mentioned something similar too now that I think of it). as much as I hate people idolizing RLM, they were right with "you might not notice, but your brain does".
maybe if they wouldn't have hired a walking plank we even could've gotten good "beach episode" fan service out of it.

that's also another thing that ticks me off about nuwars, they try super hard to be "action" movies but even fail at basic shit. OT never was that action heavy and sure, prequels took it to a new level with "talking while X", but there are hardly any quiet moments, and the ones there are show marey as a rebel fangirl for some reason - which has never heard of jedis - and "you changed your hair" nonsense (ffs stop make me remember that shit).
as much as people shit on china liking transformers, even when those movies soft-boil you with constant junkyard sex they still manage to offset that with scenes that give you time to cool off and allow the characters a bit more depth (as much as there could be) or heck, just to show an american flags waving in slow motion, but never on the outright stupid or insulting level nuwars does.

  • Mission: Impossible had a slight retooling starting with the third one after the third by making it more of the television series. Each installment starting with the forth one has been better than the last one both financially and commercially (especially the last one with Henry Cavil). That retooling has made Tom Cruise (who doesn't give a shit about politics) still relevant and the only consist franchise for Paramount to not burn.
  • John Wick, a newer IP, revitalized Keanu Reeves career with its simple, but excellent plot lines and stellar action scenes, and now people want more of these movies.

MI works because it's pretty much tom cruise's baby (didn't he even become producer just so people can't tell him no when doing his own stunts?), it's basically inoculated from the general creative downturn. making shitloads of money probably helps too.
and now you remember how shit the mummy was...

john wick isn't even anything special, it was a solid revenge movie with simple enough story (and ambiguity) and action, but for me it always felt a bit like people just go apeshit over it because everything else has become utter shit. movies like john wick were pretty much hollywood standard fare up until a few years ago (you can still find them in direct-to-video stuff tho). in general the amount of "dumb but fun" action movies has gone down, and capeshit isn't really a replacement for that. for me, the majority of 2010 could be described as "not allowed to have fun", spearheaded by walking dead and GOT where everything has to be super serious and gritty.
and each sequel got worse tho, which shows not everything needs a sequel or "universe".

a contender for the list would be pacific rim, which began as a del toro passion project and ended up whatever the fuck it was with our boy ega.

If I did, then I'd have add back No Man's Sky, Rome 2 Total War, and some other games.

eh, NMS bombing wasn't due to the 2010's being shit, same shit happened with molyneux a decade earlier. dude just got caught up in the hype that he promised things still in development or only existing on paper. that everyone went completely bonkers to the point thinking it will rival star citizen was absolutely retarded tho. looking at the facts, like how hello games is just a small indie studio with a short track record in a completely different genre told you all you had to know what to expect.

fwiw they also redeemed themselves, still working on it 3 years later, and it's a ok-good game - still with quite a few flaws due to HG's indie level, but never completely bad and in some regards actually quite impressive (universe size and how the systems interact when they're not superseded by new patches, like freighters).

...that's why I didn't include listing it because it didn't meet the original point that I was trying to make. Granted the 2010s did still have an unusual amount of broken, rushed, and (I can't emphasize the and enough) overhyped games.

That's prequel era though. I'm guessing that rule came in after the 'Mandocaust' that we keep getting those terrible, melodramatic, cliche flashbacks to. After getting wiped out by the Empire I presume the Mandalorians instituted a rule that you never reveal your face to ensure they could remain completely anonymous, except for their very distinct armor of course... yeah it's clunky and that's where the missing half-hour in this hour long show would help to add a bit of downtime and develop the world and it's characters and mythology a bit more.
I agree with Gary from Nerdrotic's take, the series is designed to steer within Dave Feloni's comfort zone, it's 30 min live action Clone Wars episodes. In hindsight I shouldn't be surprised, this is Disney not Netflix, the show was never going to 'go there',
It's not helped by the very leaden direction. It's bland and the action scenes feel very TV. There's no real dynamism to them. They should have given virgin Dave and the two diversity hire directors an action second unit like Marvel does, because their thin CVs were showing. Next week we get Bryce Dallas Howard's episode.

Mando and Baby Yoda, still a better love story then Reylo.

They keep saying it was the Empire, yet they have a fucking Trade Federation droid doing all the shooting.

I noticed Bothawui on there and was surprised, it seemed like the entire species had been exterminated. Maybe it's populated by Abednedos now.
Every time I see one of those stupid fuckers I want to break things.

Not a real Mando, apparently...

Didn't the Mandalorians nuke themselves into near-extinction, or did this new Mandalorian genocide happen after that?
I think Felony Wars had it that they had gotten nuked by the Republic sometime before the Clone Wars, hence Mandalore (later retconned to "Sundari"?) being depicted as a lifeless dustball with everyone living in a domed city, in contrast with the lush jungle planet depicted in the original Marvel comics from the 1980s and Karen Traviss's books later on.

I think it was Traviss that had the Jedi glass Mandalore. Filoni (possibly with George's oversight) had it such that the Mandos did it to themselves.

Sundari was a city on Mandalore, not the planet itself.

As best I recall, the New Republic's successor-state, the Galactic Alliance, virus-bombed Mandalore with an old CIS bioweapon tailored to the Fett genome in the Legacy of the Force series. I don't know if the planet was nuked after that (since that was the point at which I basically gave up on the series for A: revolving around what I saw as a completely unneeded conflict, and B: powering up the Jedi in general, and Jacen and Luke in particular, far beyond the point of reason), but so far as I recall, the EU depiction of the planet in the Clone Wars and Galactic Civil War eras gave no indication that it had been nuked in the recent past.

As for the Felony Wars version, it doesn't make sense to me that the state of the planet would have been solely the result of Mandalorian civil wars rather than some kind of retaliatory action on the part of the Republic, as the former would not be thematically in keeping with the TV show's depiction of the "New Mandalorian" faction as a sort of Weimar Germany, but I don't have the time or the inclination to hunt down the whole episode right now to find out for certain.

It's also the name of a planet from the West End Games Star Wars Adventure Journals series from 1994. Again, I don't recall if the Mandalorian city in "The Mandalore Plot" is actually identified onscreen by that name over the course of the episode or not.

Can someone give me a compendium of all the leaks so far?

Since GeneralFriendliness posted that there's been rumors that they've filmed/cut 3 different versions and Disney can't figure out which one to use because they're all godawful.

Glad I'm not the only one that considers Geeky an irritating thorn.
They're even starting to NPC repeat the mantra of "support to keep us competitive against the big business". that the other "Fuck the Rat" channels have been doing.

It's a great way to make me just stop watching you since by now your audience should fucking know the changes by now. It's just such a big pet peeve of mine.

Mando and Baby Yoda work well because you could legit do a Lone Wolf and Cub where he's off on a quest that will be filled with blood, and his young mentee and kind of foster child grows with him and keeps him somewhat bound by morality, since even an honorable person could break with nothing but contracts and vengeance.

Traviss is not who you use ever when it comes to Mandalorian anything given her fetish towards them. Besides, while the Jedi can be shitters as need be, I agree with the Wolfaboo here; a radical or reactionary Mandalorian group Order 66'ing themselves when faced by the Jedi forcing them to leave their ways makes more sense IMO.

Confirming I made the right choice finally joining the discussions here.

Do you feel the Mandalorian will connect with Boba Fett in someway? Like you folks mentioned Lucas said the Fetts were not Mandalorians. I know a lot of folks are speculating this will somehow connect to the Kenobi show.

Either way, They have my intrest which is way more than I can say for the movie.

Edit: With the age of the Baby Yoda and the Mandalorian you can almost see Kenobi being able to interact with either.

I can't even find Starkiller Base, Jedha or Jakku on this map, although I see Takodana. The funny thing is, the Wook considers this map canon, at least as far as Seoul, Mephout and Skye are concerned (they all originated in the EU). They all have Wook pages sourcing back to this image. Which is insane, because that would mean that Zonama Sekot is canon and so is the Imperial Remnant (the actual Imperial Remnant, on Bastian and in the Pentastar's previous territory). But the Wook apparently doesn't consider those parts of the map canon, and the one you posted is different from the one Oaat posted; it has the Remnant removed. So, was there as statement declaring some parts of the map or even all of it non-canon or what? It still has Zonama Sekot and Bastion (which is a very important Remnant codename), which would indicate that those are canon, but the Wook only lists Bastion as canon and not Zonama Sekot.

Wow you're right, I didn't see that. Was this made before the new backstory was decided on or something? The last book in Chuck Wendig's trilogy came out later. (I never read those so I don't know if that answers anything.)

Maybe @GeneralFriendliness can explain this better, but what is and isn't canon seems to be fucked. Under Disney everything new is canon,* but that just means they're never going to explain shit when there's contradictions or weird bullshit like new Jaxxon comics.

*Wookieepedia's article on canon lists some things that aren't considered canon under Disney, but doesn't give any sources. Um, ok. I've also head that Star Wars Adventures isn't canon, but Mr. Friendliness said it's just some of Adventures? Meanwhile Matt Martin says that there are no non-canon stories but also it's "not ENTIRELY canon." Apparently the only way to know if something is or isn't canon is through rumors. This isn't anywhere near as easy to follow as the old EU you fucking animals.

They been insufferable for over a year now with their 'we're totally left leaning' attitude and squealing it in nearly every video they do. Almost like they are embarrassed to have non-Marxist opinions or an audience who aren't card carrying members of the Communist Party.
