She's serving that "I'm not a regular mom I'm a cool mom" look. Except she has no kids. Makeup tutorials. Not even once.

Seriously though not a single thing looks objectively good here. Her makeup is poorly done and too heavy, the makeup color choices are wrong, her teeth are yellow, her hair looks like she simultaneously has too much and too little hair spray, and I'm assuming the redness is way too much blush. What is it with her and trying these outrageous looks lately? She went her entire career not wearing any if at all then it's like someone got her one of those Walmart Christmas makeup sets you give a 13 year old and she dove right in. Did people dog her for the red hair and low makeup thing? I think people thought it was fine. She must not feel feminine enough because blonde + makeup screams I WANT TO BE MORE OF A GIRL. So who does she want to notice her because it sure as fuck aint Phelan.

It’s very simple actually, she’s taking a flamethrower to her Obscurus Lupa look (especially the red hair) and taking no prisoners.

I think I know what she's trying to do. I think she's trying to go for the colorful 80's look. The kind that comes with backgrounds like this.

Is she nostalgic for the 80s? Sure the 80s had some great movies, especially horror, but there was also the Cold War, bomb drill, drugs, the war on drugs, the AIDS scare, yuppies, you get the idea. Every decade has it's good and bad. There's not good old days.

Yeah that’s what she’s nostalgic for. According to her show, the 80s was a goldmine for z grade, so bad it’s good cinema, especially action and horror, and she hasn’t cast her net out further.

I disagree. He has better make-up and does not look like a 45 year old mum desperately clinging to her teenage party years.

I know, she is 29. But my brain refuses to acknowledge that. Maybe she is going for the intentional awful look, because she is an independent woman, who does not need to please any fascist-patriachic beauty standards?! If that's the case, she could have saved a ton of money and used no make-up at all. Instead of looking like some brainfried former party girl who got hung up on some party drugs.

Lupa likes to go for safe so bad it's good stuff, and even then she doesn't really do her research on it. This wouldn't be so bad if she didn't act like she was a major voice for B and Z movie reviews.

I'm sure that's part of it, as well as the aforementioned "must burn old Lupa" thing. The issue is everyone who was alive during that fashion craze looks upon their old pictures with disgust. The over teased fried hair and neon colors. It has no part in today's society. Even now during the height of throwback culture, you do not see ANYONE walking around like that anymore with any seriousness. I'm sure there's a Patty or Brenda from the trailer park in the midwest somewhere who never left the 80s and is still chanting "the higher the hair the closer the god", but no one Lupa's age. She needs to take several seats and stop trying to be the face of Z grade shlock. Even outside of RLM there are other reviewers who simply do it better without the tryhard shit that she calculates. I think that's the point that rubs me the wrong way. Everything about her is so calculated. From the set to the drawn out pointless intro (seriously who is doing long ass intros these days?) with her "fun" new image and her completely fake expressions and giggles she does. She wants all this so bad and she's trying so hard and it's coming out terrible. She is just as bad as Doug with her surface level "and then this happened" review style. I mean I hate Phelan but even he got a shout out from Saberspark for his work on Dingo Pictures research. Props where props are due. Lupa does nothing of substance and outside the ex CA-sphere no one really cares about her persona and her views on shlock.
