I think he's just delusional. He's the kind of guy that idolizes celebrities and in his mind he's made it as an e-celeb. He's got 130k subs and his silver play button and nobody can take that away from him (except his bank probably will when he defaults on his mortgage in the not-too-distant future), he isn't some plebeian who needs an actual job to survive. Never mind his view count, never mind his like-to-dislike ratio, never mind that everybody hates him and there isn't a single community on the internet that will take him in, one day he'll latch onto the right controversy and he's gonna get his viewers back.
Of course that's not true and things are not gonna get any better for him but he doesn't realize that.

Here's my prediction: Things are only gonna get worse and one day that silver play button will be gone. Maybe he'll pawn it off, maybe it will get seized or maybe someone is gonna steal it (Matt does have an awful lot of black people going in and out of his house after all) and that's what's gonna set him off. When he sees the symbol of his only achievement in life gone he's finally gonna shoot up that Walmart (or just kill himself I guess).

This raises the interesting question of what he did to alienate the indie film crowd to force a rebranding to mainstream nerd culture and basically chasing the EmergencyAwesome audience*.

Yeah, I've old seen/read reviews of it and it seems like Hollywood woke trash so I've decided to skip it. Honestly, with a few exceptions, I think that applies to all the TV shows and movies coming out of the US right now.
