Doing field ops like going to public events like trials or attending speaking events isn't a huge deal as long as you keep quiet, don't stick out and don't attract attention. As long as you're there in the same capacity as any other member of the public, it's fine.

Like people attending the cwc trials, for example.

Now if they show up in kf tshirts and block Yaniv's path while taking pictures like they're some kind of paparazzi and he's Britney Spears, well... then they're kinda touchin the poop.

Technically, up to 6 months in jail and/or a $5000 fine. My guess is Yaniv gets away with a conditional discharge. That means she’ll be judged guilty but won’t be convicted (no criminal record) if she follows her conditions.

Summary offences go up to 2 years less a day, although there may be guidelines about sentences for specific offences, indictable is for anything greater. It'll probably be a Suspended Sentence for 12 months.

Yaniv doesn't quite grasp that Yaniv is the Criminal Defendant, does he? I'm hoping the Judge has no sense of humor about Yaniv's authoritarian antics about which members of the public can observe a criminal proceeding.

Thanks for pointing this out - they increased the penalties with Bill C-75 from 6 months to try to clear backlogged cases. It looks like change might not have come into force until September so in that case Yaniv is entitled to the six month max. Either way highly unlikely she’ll go to jail (fortunately for the other inmates).
