Is it just me or is 99% of the fat acceptance movement women? I mean it's just a personal observation, but it literally always is fat danger hairs who post belly photos of themselves, etc.

Also is this the ultimate cope, because again any time I see anything to do with fat acceptance, it's more like. I've given up on myself, but you can't criticize me for that.

Women seem to need "yes girl, slay queen, there's nothing wrong with you at all!" reassurances more than men do. Men are more willing to accept that it's bad for them to be fat as shit rather than looking for back-pats about how it's all okay. Obviously I'm not saying men are better than women, it's just that in this specific way men and women behave differently. There are other lolcow behaviors much more common among men, like irrational aggression or sexual depravity, but this lolcow behavior is way more common among women.

Women also get judged more harshly than men for being fat. When you add harsher social judgment to the higher desire for social validation you get fat acceptance.

Do you even understand the point of storytelling Lividlipids? If King Triton didn’t have as much objection, Ariel would have been less likely to rebel and seek help from other sources. A lot of the movie is about King Triton’s change of heart and learning to accept humans. If you’re going to criticize a movie, at least understand what you’re criticizing first.

I love how she expects that this 1989 movie will match her 2019 social justice warrior ideals. I just imagine LividLipids crying all day because it seems like she genuinely never experiences joy. Everything is either clouded by white guilt, racism, "the patriarchy" or fatphobia. She can't even just watch a fucking movie with her kids.

I understand it was the 60's and people understood less about health than we do now, but why do people think horrifying crash diets like this are a better idea than just eating healthy in a long-term, sustainable way? If you need to do something crazy drastic like that to lose weight, you're just going to gain it back because you can't sustain this kind of diet. It's extremely fucked up that her fellow band members saw what she was doing and didn't say anything. Some friends they were.

Mama Cass was pretty much not the first choice for the second female in that group. They settled for her. Arguably, they likely would never had made it like they did without her. But John, Michelle, et al were not really friends with her on certain levels. Also it was the sixties in LA. Manson season. Cass is described in memoirs as being the consummate host. Her high tolerance enabled her to consume huge doses of many varied drugs. Fat was a factor in her death, but the drugs and drinking hastened her death more than a little.
I feel for Cass, she had talent and tried hard to control whatever was going on with her weight. These fatties can only envy her while they dismiss her as a 'smallfat with privilege'

Yep, I'm MOTI at this one, too. This shows why the person responding is fat. If you calculate the basal metabolic rate for this kid (assuming, generously, that they are 5 ft 10 in), they burn slightly more than 1800 calories a day for basic functions. If they do any exercise, they can tack on extra calories depending on how many calories they burn. To lose 1 lb per week, you have to taken in 500 calories less a day than you burn. So, at most -- given that they admit they are not active, they are looking at burning 2000 calories a day, so they should eat 1500 calories a day for a 1 lb per week weight loss. 1000 calories for a 2 lb per week loss.

No wonder they can't lose weight if they think someone needs to be eating 3200 calories a day. This kid already knows more about healthy bodies than they ever will. She knows that her parents weight is responsible for their Type 2 diabetes. She doesn't want to end up like that. I hope she is smart enough to move on to another site that can give her real and useful information.

It strikes me that Krysta is probably perennially hangry living in Costa Rica. Even a lot of the areas that cater to tourists don’t have “western” food - the main carbs are going to be rice, beans, plantains, and occasionally some sort of potato-like squash, and the meat is usually limited/mixed in with the dish. You may or may not also get hyper-sweet, liquidy desserts as well. Someone who is used to a lot of breads/breaded meat/fried food will be pretty cranky until their body is used to that. I can’t imagine living that way for long as still being fat though, so I’m sure she still has access to western foods. How privileged!
