Gonna give Arin the benefit of the doubt here, but I don't think this was him trying to be manipulative, at least not intentionally.

I think this was more of a case of Arin just being dumb and not thinking things all the way through, which seems more Arin's style rather then him trying to be some sort of "master manipulator".

I know comparing Oney to eggo is cliché as fuck but I just wanna point out something he did recently that only highlights how badly Soviet Jump Game and... uh... book written by fictional uncle were marketed. He recently did a one-off for AI Dungeon Master, and then tweeted about the creator's Patreon.

(It's a fucking hilarious video too btw)

This has easily sold me on that game far more than SJG. No trickery was made, he doesn't say "we found this mysteeeeerious game and it's some insane AI! Robots taking over?" or whatever. He plays the game, shows how fun it is, brings up the Patreon, and I not only want to play the game but I'd actually be willing to donate to the guy's Patreon. SJG is so associated with deception that even though it's free I don't even care enough to look at it.

It’s almost like it’s a clearly fake joke that anyone with an ounce of intelligence could understand and choose to play along with.

Like I said before, I don’t think this is a good bit, but anyone willing to use common sense can see it’s a bit. People write books under different pseudonyms all the time. Spoiler; Lemony Snicket isn’t the dude’s real name. And Arin is just using his Twitter to do a fun bit to promote the book.

It's hard to be a tard-wrangler when the person you're supposed to wrangle can overrule and/or fire you. If you're gonna be a wrangler, you need to be able to assert power; otherwise you're just playing grown-up daddy's clothes... and whether it's Arin is a behind the scene control freak, or his friend just isn't that assertive (because of his personality or because Arin is his friend); his position is in name only. What Arin needs to do is get someone who isn't starstruck by the Grumps and is willing to put their foot down and assert some fucking dominance... ... Allie could do that by throwing her sideways vag around.

While I understand not airing out grievances in public, I wish he and other NG members (besides Cory, Stamper and Chris) took the piss out of Arin more directly instead of indirect jabs that they would delete anyway (see also: Ding Dong). One fan accidentally brings a perfectly good reason to not preorder the book/cancel someone's subscription to Audible.

The main difference is that the separation between Brian and the role he plays on NSP was made clear from day one, I think he even appeared briefly without the costume on their early videos.
