Would love to overhear what the Vietnamese salon ladies say to each other when Desmond and Piggy come in,

(Actually, looking this salon up, it's more like a dirty and semi-ghetto version of that Club Libby Loo thing from the 2000s, and not really any kind of real salon. Staffed by teens and black ladies, not Vietnamese sass masters.)

I thought the moms I knew were exaggerating about those Libby Lu stores and went inside one, expecting some makeup and frivolous makeover stuff, TBH I don't care if kids want to paint their faces, I thought it'd basically be Sephora with kid colors and extra glitter and sparkles.

What I didn't expect was that literally every item in the store was vapidity given consumerist form. This was back in the day when Paris Hilton was still hot shit with that little imprisoned dog she carried in a purse everywhere. The store had rows upon rows of little plush dogs in imitation-designer handbags so you could be like Paris. There were stations to change nearly every aspect of a little girl's appearance, all with a decidedly sexual/bimbo kind of bent that was really uncomfortable to see pitched to such a young crowd. Everything was about love being transactional. Shirts with "buy me everything I want, I'm a princess" types of slogans and ones that implied they'd only date rich. For girls who shouldn't have been dating for years and years.

Looking through the store for anything that was remotely edifying or potentially a positive influence on a girl's life, I saw a journal and picked it up. No blank pages. Instead, each one had a prompt to fill out. The prompts (at a store targeted toward 6-10 year old girls) included "what's the biggest fashion disaster you ever wore? Tape the photo here," "talk about a time you went on a diet," and "how do you get your parents to buy you something if she says no the first time?"

I put the journal down and vowed no daughter of mine would set foot inside one of those stores. Enough other moms apparently agreed that those stores couldn't turn a profit, even while selling ridiculously overpriced products in a business model with relatively low overhead.

All this goes to show: people's outrage at Wendy Lou isn't about Desmond's gender-bending. It's about the way she keeps his life superficial and shallow, without skill-building that could help him become an independent person later. If everyone objecting was just a durn transphobe, those Libby Lu stores would still be busy today. People would be delighted to buy wigs and extensions and club clothes for their 7 year old girls and send them out of the house heavily made up.

This person needs to learn the difference between "than" and "then".

Here's the part they misunderstand: NOBODY COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS FINDS DESMOND SEXY. We're horrified by it. We are just very well aware that pedophiles exist and we are pointing out that he is being dolled up in order to attract those pedos. Pimping out kids is nothing new. (Check out the Baby Burlesque films that Shirley Temple did. There were critics at the time complaining about how grown men were moaning in the theaters watching her on screen.) Pedophilia is a real problem and has been in the entertainment industry for a long time and any parent who tarts up their kid knowing that pedos are going to get off on it but doesn't care because they can make a buck, is human trash.

He's just a progressive version of JonBenetRamsey. Eventually he'll turn up dead or wind up killing himself like other child stars that were molested. And they'll wring their hands and wonder why something like this happened after they've ignored every red flag and warning.

And that’s the rub. The automatic defense is “Why do you look at this child and see sex?” Because I don’t need to like dudes to know when I see gay porn, re.tard. Because I don’t need to like fat women to know Chantal’s a feedie. I don’t need to like something to know what I’m looking at. Maybe these people do, I don’t know, but then why do they fight so hard to keep Desmond?

I know this is a Mad At The Internet rant, but very few things online piss me off. Basically animal abuse and child exploitation/abuse. Those things, I don’t like that we live in a world where that happens. And that’s why Desmond makes me so pissed at Piggy, it’s just so blatant and people are celebrating it.
People seem to think we, this thread, hate this kid, but we don’t. Personally, I just want him to somehow get out of this mess. A nice, storybook ending for him, where he lives happily ever after. But I know enough about crazy motherfuckers to see how this could go very, very bad sooner or later. I know it’s dark, and it’s bad for me to say, but I don’t think Desmond’s story will end happily. Especially if Piggy puts him on puberty blockers or something, if she hasn’t already. Those are recipes for disaster.
God, I hope we in this thread are wrong about how this story ends.

I’d still be concerned if he enjoyed but it’s clear that he hates it and has no talent. It’s embarrassing because he can’t sing, dance, lip synch, dress or do makeup and it’s stealing his childhood. It’s concerning because he looks sleep deprived and starved. It’s more concerning because he mom is exposing him to a convicted murder, drug user and pimp. That’s just one known. Who knows how many other unknown people she is putting him in contact with. In all seriousness, either from a tell-all book or interview or an autopsy report, it’ll probably be revealed he’s drugged out of his mind and sexually abused.

There is just so much wrong about this picture and the description. For starters, it looks like the most forced ad in history. "hahaha, I'm just casually bleaching my anus at @whiteyourassxoxo! Also, it could be the angle, but Desmond's hands seem like they stopped looking like a child's hands. I have two boys and I know how hands become for boys once they start hitting puberty and turn into a teenager. You can change a lot of things about your body, but hands and feet never lie. Sooner, the rest of his body will develop along with his voice. Wendylou will either double down and make the kid look even more ridiculous or wil have to face the reality of Desmond no longer be profitable as a "drag kid" as the pedos will not find him interesting any more.

He still has the hostage eyes expression but he looks a little better fed and rested here than usual... It could just be filters but maybe his teen boy appetite is starting to kick into gear :optimistic:

The last few recent pics of Desmond show that the cut of his jib is maturing. His jaw is getting thicker and broader. And another poster mentioned his hands. Dead give away clues of maturation. I don't think FuckyLou is giving him puberty blockers, tho I wouldn't rule it out completely. I think he is just maturing, albeit in a starved state. It will be interesting to see his muscle development in the near future. If his bones mature, but his muscles and body fat aren't commesurate, well that's a MAJOR clue to the starvation. That accusation has been made once before by one of PiggyLou's kids. It certainly seems like it's repeating itself again.
