"Paul Rudd Joins Ghostbusters' 2020 cast" - Oy vey

I mean, it’ll be better than the 2016 one at least, simply because I won’t be called sexist if I don’t want to see it.
can't wait for AVGN to review and people scream and cry in the streets because he didn't review the 2016 ghostbusters

also can't wait for movieblob's review where he says it doesn't have themes and nothing happens... also sexism or something

oh man are we going to get a repeat of joker with the MSM screaming about how horrible the film is and it'll cause some horrible things to happen (not a shooting but maybe a white nationalist rising or something?)

Smart to go with Stranger Things 3 and old classic stuff. This is the better way to go.

Better, but perhaps not a great idea.

Can this franchise sustain sequels with these kids running around busting ghosts? (Where's the "underappreciated working man putting in a day's work" subtext of the first film with kids?) I really doubt it.

Sony sure hopes so.

Bump trailer:

Stranger Things 2 : electric boogaloo

Well it does look diverse, I see a black girl, a Asian(Hispanic?) boy, some others. So I guess they can't complain.

I thought people liked Paul Rudd?

I really don't know who he is other than he's in those Marvel chapter movies.

He beat up Michael Myers in Halloween 6:

A shame he isn't coming back for Halloween Kills

What if he also declines to review it, who will attack him for not reviewing it?

What, are they gonna say it's a bad influence to kids for encouraging them to trespass and drive a car without a license?

you expect people NOT to lie?
fucking hell, when joker came out there was the whole IT HATES BLACK WAMMINZ and INCEL ARMIES ARE GONNA RISE BECAUSE ITS POLITICAL AND TELLS WHITE MALES TO KILL

all you need is one black or one woman put into a bad situation and not automatically kicking a white man's ass (and having everyone stand up and clap) and the danger hairs and soyboys will fucking tremble all the while screaming about how it's PROBLEMATIC and SOGGY KNEES etc.

failing that, they'll just make something up

I wonder why they're not going with the "regional Ghostbuster franchisees" concept from the RPG and (some of) the comic books? Seems like that would be a good fit for Rudd given his "put-upon everyman" characters from films like Ant-Man and Role Models, and it would allow them to keep the "working stiff" blue-collar angle that was so central to the original film.🤔

i want a canadian ghostbusters where they fight the ghost of justin trudeau in blackface

This might have some potential here. Rudd has decent enough comedic chops, and the Stranger Things vibe will definitely lure in the fans of said show. There's a clear and present connection to the prior films (the kids are Spengler's grandchildren ffs), and best of all, no Leslie Jones.

Looks nice so far. It feels more like the original films than the 2016 film did. Will have to see some more before I can decide, the nice thing is the characters are somewhat separated from the ghostbusters saga and are just normal people doing their own thing and not trying to prove themselves as being amazing like in the 2016 film.

This looks like shit. I thought Ghostbusters was supposed to be a comedy. At least Lady Ghostbusters tried (and failed) to be funny.

Also I'm sick of seeing that snot-nosed curly-haired punk from Stranger Things in all this 80's nostalgia shit when he wasn't even alive during 9/11.

My sentiments as well. I can't see this being a much bigger hit than 2016's was. Maybe a slightly warmer critical reception, but I can't think of anyone being wow'd by a Ghostbusters kids movies.

I don't know... they could go Full 80s and try for a Goonies feel to the whole thing. That might work.

It's clear to me Rudd's character represents the older fans of the original movie(s). 80s kids. (I couldn't tell from the time span he mentions if they're ignoring GB2.) How he's involved in the story will be important... as well as how the original crew is used.

This is going to be much bigger than Ballbusters, I'm calling it now. But it remains to be seen if it's a good film.

Not a chance. GB2016 was supposed to be a major summer tentpole movie for Sony and was promoted accordingly.

This thing might be more profitable (all it would have to do to be more profitable is just lose less money) but it's not going to be bigger in absolute numbers because Sony isn't going to give it a fraction of the production/advertising budget the other one had.

Could easily depend on the reaction from this new trailer. If it’s heavily positive, they may give more towards advertising it than they will if it a very meh reception

Sure, just not the kind of advertising campaign the other one had because they don't expect it to be one their big summer movies.

The only way I see Afterlife out-grossing GB2016 ($230 million) on a presumably much more modest budget is if it's a Joker-caliber surprise hit.

The SJWs was outraged from what they saw at the GB trailer.

I agree with these Youtubers who commented on the trailer.

What the fuck are they angry about? This movie has (apparently) a genius-level girl Egon (), a token black love interest, a token Asian kid... all it's missing is a troon, a flamboyant homo, and someone in a wheelchair. This trailer would feel a little pandering if we didn't have the awful 2016 film to compare it to.

Oh, right... they decided to be "angry" before they even saw the trailer.

Also, because Sony acted like if GB 2016 never existed and that's triggered them.

That’s why they should’ve adapted Extreme Ghostbusters it had a guy in a wheelchair that was not only competent, but funny, cool and likeable. He even fought against bigotry when a group of punks vandalized a synagogue.
