Science Kitten born with two heads battles to stay alive as owner refuses to give up on her

A kitten born with two heads is fighting for its life after surviving a difficult birth.

The adorable grey and white baby cat was born in Ratchaburi, central Thailand on Monday night.

Owner, Chabaprai Nilpet, 52, said she returned from work and found her Persian cat, Snow, in labour but struggling to give birth to the last kitten.

She rushed her beloved pet cat to the veterinary clinic where it underwent a cesarean section to safely bring the two-headed female kitten into the world.

The two-headed kitten was barely breathing when it's born

The kitten's heart and lungs were so weak that medics had to perform CPR to keep it breathing.

Incredibly, the kitten was kept alive and returned home with its mother and brothers and sisters.

Chabaprai has given the ''lucky'' two-headed kitten two names - Ngern and Thong, which mean money and gold respectively.

The cat lover said that the kitten was so frail that she has to use a syringe to feed both heads as they cannot not drink by themselves.

Chabaprai's cat, Snow, struggled to give birth to the last kitten and had to be rushed to the vet

Chabaprai said: "I love cats so much and have been raising them for more than 10 years.

"This is the fourth litter by my beloved Snow, but it was the first time that she has given birth to a two-headed kitten.

"I have tried to look at this positively, like they are lucky charm, because it was so unusual.

I checked it out and the original source, ViralPress, is suspiciously named but appears to be a legitimate news agency. Very cute.

Wouldn't this be one of the times that it'd be correct to use "they/them" pronouns?

I mean if it's got two heads aren't they technically two cats?
I don't think there's ever been a case of this where they had more than one brain. I think the reason they die right away is sometimes that the brain is malformed, just like their esophageal tracks that prevent functional respiration or eating.

There was a story I read once of a two headed snake where both heads separated well below the neck, and each had a fully formed brain and "identity". The abomination had trouble moving because each brain only controlled some body muscles, and one head kept trying to attack the other because they percieved each other as threats.

but think of all the paperwork they could have done with that amount of brainpower.

And it looks like they're doubling down. :story:

Zero surprise here.

I dont apologize for this post, although I probably would not have been brave enough to say it if I wasnt drunk last night. Funny part is I dont even really dislike cats all that much, I've owned a few in my life and I have a couple neighborhood strays I'll leave food on the front porch for occasionally. Idk I just sometimes think the whole internet cat obsession is just like, a bit too much I guess? I'm just kinda over it.

It can be this way with dogs sometimes to, and I fucking love doggos. I just feel like there are tons of other cool pets the internets could memeify, like tarantulas for example.

Tarantulas are fucking awesome.

Its a sign! they need to overthrow king dogpurse!

I disagree with you on everything except the tarantula part. I was gifted a tiny Mexican Red tarantula in college and it was great to watch it grow.

Ohhhh no that kitten looks like its suffering I don't like this.

If it survives it's probably going to be very unhealthy. Poor beastie. :(

>Implying people don't meme tarantulas.

I take your words and raise you one tarantula wizard.

It's likely in misery and I doubt it'll survive. Most humane individuals allow genetic aberrations like this to pass peacefully right after birth. With creatures that breed frequently and in group litters, the occasional mutant baby isn't that uncommon.
It's interesting how the living conditions for most disabled people in Thailand and India are bad but they practically worship creatures with some rare deformities.

WRONG

I hope it lives and becomes Frankenlouie 2.0.
I'm impressed. I thought the only animals to survive with two heads were reptiles like snakes, and even then they had shorter lifespans.

I don't know if most two headed mammals just don't survive, or are killed to be put out of their misery.
You didn't even know about two headed humans?
