Another day, another fluff piece on the fandom. This one is interesting because it talks about the role social media has in creating new furries, and why people decide to join. Spoiler: social media (TikTok in particular) made it trendy to be a furry. Another interesting tidbit is how many underage furries there are now. Online there is a huge pushback against underage furries thanks to the Sisk saga (and how horny teens are online) and art theft. However more and more underage furries are showing up to conventions.
I'll give this article credit. It does mention one of the recent fandom sex scandals, but then it says that "it's a fraction of the community" lumping them in with generic fetishism. If you've been around the furry fandom for more than 10 minutes, you'll know that the "it's a minority" excuse is the furry fandom version of saying you read Playboy for the articles. Sure Playboy might have had some good articles, but it's obvious why you're reading it.

This is pretty much the furry fandom these days. Ever since Brexit, the 2016 election, and the RMFC saga the fandom has gotten more and more political. The end result of this is that the fandom that was open and accepting is now "if you voted for the wrong person get the fuck out of the fandom", and it's not just some fringe group or controversial figurehead saying this either. It's a lot of furries. Many of them don't even care about the furry part anymore.
I have seen so many furries who have literally those two things as their identity. Porn, fetishes, and bitching about something is the core identity of many furries these days.
