Sure, but the whole point of TCPA is to keep one party from bullying people into silence. When you sit on twitter barking "take me to court, take me to court, PLEASE take me to court so I can dump testimony on your ass", and then you do exactly that, I don't see how it makes sense for the court to say "don't use the court to bully the shitbrick".

I'm just saying, I don't remember if anyone else (even Jamie) actually said explicitly that they wanted to go to court, but Ron did that and should have to live with it. Whether or not Vic wins the defamation suit, I don't know, I'm just saying TCPA shouldn't logically apply. (courts are not always "logical" so who knows with the appeal, just saying)

I was in another thread with others making fun of him about his bathroom shenanigans, but as soon as I posted my comment he shows up to chastise me like a naughty child. Alright I'm gonna drop a spicy take.
I dump on SAO because it's easy to do so. But the real problems with anime started in the early to mid 2000s with the rise of yaoi/fujoshi and otaku culture. Shitty shows got hyped because of people wanting to fuck characters or imagine them fucking.

And the good shit got slept on because consumers tended to gear towards shit that catered to their short, sexually charged attention spans.

So more shit like that was imported, and it started a cycle of shitty anime going mainstream for face value alone. Gems sometimes slip through the cracks but it always feel like the shit that gets pushed the hardest is so....bland. I can't get into most shit nowadays without feeling like there's something to be desired.

But that's just me.

MOE rose right along with that shit as well, though I didn't know it at the time since I only knew about the standards like DBZ. Getting a larger picture after becoming a fan shows me animu has been going downhill for a long time. Looking at how shit was in the 80s, you see how much better things were with the OVA boom and some really excellent shit being created during Japan's economic rise, beautiful hand drawn (cel by cel) works with more life in the animation than the best productions today. As soon as you get to the 90s and Japan's great stagnation though, changes begin to appear. Show cours shortened, staff and budgets were cut etc; most of these things people already know about. The decline was cushioned a bit by the shift to digital in the late 90s/early 2000s, where animators were no longer required to hand-craft every single god damn frame. You'll notice the early 2000s had an explosion of very bouncily animated, vibrantly-colored shows as animators got to stretch their legs a bit with digital freedom... but nevertheless, economic recession hit Japanese industries hard.

Series that used to get multiple 13 or 26 episode seasons were suddenly relegated to just one cour, and one alone, if they got lucky. So many shows dying after just 12 or 13 episodes. Cut to present day, where even the boldest of smut animu is having to scrape the barrel with just 10 or so episodes, many of which aren't even full anymore, literally cut to just 10 minute samples. Those were the shows that used to print money. Now only mobile game cash seems to be keeping these studios alive, and animator treatment has only gotten worse. Now, half the animators aren't even japanese, so is it really even animu anymore?

He's probably glad that he gets to spend a little more time with each and every fan, since there aren't that many fans waiting in line. I remember Vic saying he never actually expects people to show up to his meet ups/con appearances. He's most likely simply happy he got to spend time with his fans, regardless of how many showed up.

Also, Vic probably still made more money at cons throughout the year than Harpy and the horse.
