Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

Oh I thought this thread was about the movie actually being shit but now I'm seeing that reviewers that fellated The Last Jedi don't like this one and are calling it a surrender to the toxic fandom... now I have hope.

Either that or it's so bad that literally everyone hates it.
dont worry its both!

Take a moment to think, would you? 😉

Oh, I've thought about it plenty. Boba Fett is a shallow nothing character. Your personal interpretations of the character's mindset and motives and what was scripted doesn't trump what was actually filmed and included in the movie. I pretty purposely avoided the Jar Jar Binks being a secret Sith Lord stuff in my list for that very reason. Everything I said is factual and readily apparant in the films. It's ok the admit the original trilogy has glaring flaws and poor characters.

Almost every disagrees with you. Hence why his toys sell so well.

People can disagree with me. I'd rather be able to think for myself than follow a crowd blindly. His toys selling well doesn't change the reality of the character. Even Mon Mothma is cooler than Boba Fett. She's a frumpy old woman who stands around in a robe talking, but that's still more substantial than anything Boba Fett did.

I remember reading /leftypol/ profiles on twatter before the great purge. It was interesting how many "enlightened" individuals would openly talk about their anti-depressant prescriptions.

That is what it all boils down to, they are unhappy people and they externalize their unhappiness on supposed problems with society as a whole, when the truth is if you live in a first world nation you are living in the safest, most prosperous, most comfortable time period in human history.

They are just cynical jackasses and their cynicism is spoiling everyone else’s fun, fuck ‘em.

Just some idle speculation, but I think the monosyllabic names of the sequel trilogy characters may be due to the initial attempt to make the characters more palatable for the Chinese audience. If the names were too lengthy or hard to pronounce, it would be less optimal for the Chinese audience.
Like my grandfather once said when I brought up World War II:

FUCK THE CHINESE

Okay, so forgive the autismo but I spent some time thinkin' while puttering around the house cleaning up for the holidays.

TFA burns my ass in a lot of ways upon retrospect, because there's that killer shot of post-massacre Finn which makes the ol' noggin marbles start clackin'.

Imagine an actual exploration of force sensitive Finn whose sensitivity helps in breaking the brainwashing or whatever (he's known already as a problem in the FO based on dialogue, so) and that massacre is the final straw. But this Finn is tired of violence and the brutality of the Order, as well as his own bloody past in their ranks, as much as he desires to break out his FO buddies from their involuntary servitude. So he gets to engage in a Jedi's journey as he finds ways to turn his burgeoning connection to the Force into protection not only for himself but also for all those like him who've been placed into a powerless position. Rather than be an outright coward who's somehow a janitor who got put on an active duty combat mission, Finn is determined to accrue the skills he needs to do some good in his life as he tries to figure out who he is outside of his unwilling role as an FO stooge. (aka what i was super interested in seeing happen that didn't lol)

As a juxtaposition to this, Rey is not the "super kind to everyone she meets" Mary Sue but a scavenger who, as she lives surrounded by old Imperial iconography just as she's obviously come across Rebel things, has a darker connection to the Force. Which she leans into because it helps her survive. She's more likely to do whatever it takes to get paid in food/water and disinterested in anything which threatens what she's carved out for herself in the desert. She's not evil, but she is pragmatic due to her unstable situation.

So you have basically two new-to-the-Force characters with differing views on what the Force is and how it should be used. Their ideals clash as do their desires, so we as the audience get to see both sides of the equation as both Finn and Rey make their choices as defined by their individual experiences/expectations of what the Force can give them and go on divergent paths despite initially following a similar journey once they've met on Jakku.

Plus, due to Finn's newfound weighty character arc that doesn't forget his origins we get insight into the FO so we'd know more things about it than that it exists for some reason. Which could create some neat conundrums for the Rebels Resistance regarding Troopers.

I'm not gonna getting into the nitty gritty with how I pictured b/c it was involved and very autistic. But pared down it would've provided avenues to better smooth out possible Kylo redemption or at least make his background/motivations not stupid, not butcher our beloved OT characters, have an actual Rey-joins-Kylo-and-trains schtick that could've been, y'know, cool, have Rey actually fuckin' fail at things, and even offer a backdrop for a Finn/Rey fight with more emotional weight than the wet blanket shit we got.

Kinda summed up it'd be the selfless (Finn) vs. the selfish (Rey) and get real into how messy white v. black v. grey ideals are.

And Poe is there too I guess.

The worst potential is wasted potential.

Coolness is subjective. you cant say boba fett is objectively cool or uncool. But people who look cool tend to be thought of as cool. It doesnt take a free thinker to understand that as the primary extent of it.

When that girl hangs herself, her suicide note will consist of a pile of papers with the phrase "aren't you a little short to be a stormtrooper" neatly typed out thousands of times.
I know you joke, but there is a trend of disney land/world employees going insane if they're on the job for years.

There's also a theory that states that Jar Jar was supposed to be a traitor all along but George backed out at the last minute because his cover act caused him to be the most hated character.
At least Jar Jar is enjoyably bad with plot armour inpenitrable in a fun way that could easily turn him into an amazing character if used correctly.
I've always leaned towards believing this theory for one basic reason. Lucas upending his entire story plan because he was insecure about character reception is very Lucas. Put it in a larger context. The prequels were massively financially successful, the intended audience (children) loved them, toy sales were never better. But he couldn't be proud of any of that and overlook the loud complaints of a minority. He was upset by the fan temper tantrums to the point he just wanted to wash his hands of the franchise. Allowing his own insecurity to alter his plans is Lucas to a T. It's why I can't be too upset by what Disney is doing to Star Wars, or feel too sorry for Lucas in all of it. He wasn't even willing to stand up for it.

That's fine, bud. You can think Boba Fett is cool. I like Boba Fett and his headless father too. I'm just having some fun with you.

I think you're gonna just have to admit that a soldier of fortune bounty hunter clad in space armor with space guns who plays by his own rules and has his own ship is inherently cool to children and kidaults. He doesn't have to be a good character or deep. It's just a fun concept, like most of "good" starwars.

The 'toxic fans' fucking hate it too, I'm starting to think they're all saying that so if/when it flops they can push some bullshit narrative about it bombing because it gave in to the TiNy tOxIc MiNoRiTy.

TL;DR
It tried too hard to not offend anybody that it pleases nobody.

Boba's only popular cause he looked cool.

What the hell am I seeing, is that literally 1 million different ships in that shot? That looks so utterly stupid I cant even laugh at it.

The music, lighting, tone in that scene is way too gleeful for a massive space battle.

...and Wedge is just a gunner...
Wedge be like "Alright, I'll kill these assholes for your stupid resistance...but you're driving."

Hmm, what other news can I share to make people even more miserable?

Oh yeah, that fucking thundercats nightmare has not been cancelled and is apparently coming out in a few months
znoE9R2.png

Kevin Smith ejaculated over TROS I fear he's going to make He Man almost as shit as Thundercats Roar.
Teela is the show focus along with "finding her true power."
Money on him making his daughter voice her or some shit.
She's gonna Miley Cyrus it up some day.

But who repaired it after it lay crashed underwater for ten years? This is the one thing I want to know. Please don't make me watch the movie (eventually, no way I'm tithing the rat).
How'd it get there without an R2 unit handling the hyperdrive calculations?

So i guess Snoke was the one in the goggles.

Cmon, whats the worst they could do? not like they will do a live action DBZ movi...

Oh...

I didn't know Planet Vegeta was Space Asia.

Give him Rey.

That's not much of a reward. I think his medal he got would be a better lay.

I'm willing to test both the medal and Rey for thst theory.

This aggression will not stand.

That's pretty much their avenue - they'll blame the failure on the toxic elements, even though they got exactly what people said they were going to get. It's the same way with what happened after TLK, the more toxic fanbase accused Paramount of bowing to popular distension and veered away from the weird shit AoE was getting into, even though with AoE there really wasn't anywhere to go.

It of course does not explain the fact that as movies in their own right, these all fail miserably at being well constructed narratives, even if part of a greater story.

It'll boil for about a year or two, though with SW it might be less because Mandalorian could still keep this shit afloat so long as it doesn't veer dangerously into Disney EU bullshit any more than it has already.

At least this video has an honest title.

This is your casual fan.
This is your casual YouTube channel trying to make money off of Star Wars.

Why do they want to have the China market when it’s clear they don’t like Star Wars? I wish the film companies could pick and choose what they want for China and release better stuff for the rest of the world.

So has anyone else noticed Ian's delivery with the emperor feels off? I'm not sure if its the dialogue or directing he got from JJ, but it just isn't as fun and maliciously evil like it was in previous media with him.

There's a weird empty feeling involving this film. The wasted potential being the biggest one. Carrie Fisher's dead now, we never got to see the original team together one last time, Luke turned into a weird titmilk sucking wifeless virgin hobo who tried to murder a child and probably fucked tiny midget aliens, Lando dresses the same. Nothing remotely interesting has happened in these movies, but lots of interesting things have been referenced to that happened before.

To believe Disney spent 9 billion to do this shit with the ip. Laugh with me, because none of us will ever fuck up this bad in our lives.
