Makes sense. He's got to where he was by being a goofball character but had (over)ambitions of somehow pivoting and becoming a dark and mysterious figure in media instead of a gaming nerd. I bet he had a bunch of brooding headshots done that never sold because of course people going to his events would want the 'funny' one (that is related to his media and not just his aspirations).

Of those tweets: TGWTG was the only period in Noah's adult life where he had a stable peer group and it overlapped with the peak of his productivity, fame and mental stability. Noah was whining about how lonely he was and it's natural for his broken mind to look back at his TGWTG days - with the crossovers, anniversary flicks, conventions and general positive interaction with other humans - with rose-tinted glasses.

On the subject of LordKat's accusations - G4 got away with this at E3. I don't wanna white-knight a greasy weasel man but I highly doubt Spoony screaming like a tard hurt anyone's chances of anything (business people at E3 know that the gaming press is a little... strange). I find it more likely that Mojang didn't give a clear reason as to why they called off the interview (which is what most companies do because specific reasons for denial just create more work for PR), and that LK was projecting.

Now that I think about it, the Change the Channel movement suffered a lot by Spoony not weighing in.
While every other contributor considered it a living hell to work for Channel Awesome, for Spoony, he constantly wishes he could go back to those days.
That's kind of a crushing blow to the whole #CTC narrative.

I don't think there's anything Noah could've said to change the way CTC played out. Any tweet he made would've been a footnote compared to the greater drama, which fizzled out within weeks as internet drama always does. At that point almost everyone had turned a blind eye to him as a broken, narcissistic wash-up anyway.

Spoony will always be remembered for his FMV Hell, Final Fantasy and Ultima reviews, along with his videos on Board Games and Tabletop adventures. He was and will remain one of the more talented members of the golden age of Channel Awesome. If he does finally kick the bucket, this is what people will remember him for, unless we get some sort of JewWario reveal, which is highly unlikely (grown men far past their prime living in seclusion have difficulty approaching average members of society, let alone underage girls...Also nobody with this information would gain anything from keeping it secret.)

In the end, Doug and Co. will probably put out either a half assed video mourning the loss of him, championing his successes while making some retarded statement about mental health. Lupa, Marzgurl, Hope (Harry, whatever the fuck.) et al. will talk about how he was a difficult character, but to make themselves look good, they will still mourn the loss of him ("a loss of any magnitude..." yadayadyada.)

I was younger than Spoony is now when I started to take the steps to turn my life around, but I was still old enough to know how it feels to realize you wasted so much of your youth surrendering to depression. It's crushing.

But I also figured that, if I felt that way then, I'd feel so much worse if I was 40 or 50 and hadn't started taking the steps to get my shit handled.

Dude's got a steep hill to climb, but he's luckier than most people on earth. He's not not a drug addict, in prison, or starving on the streets of some shithole third-world country. The resources are available to him, he just has to go out and take advantage of them.

Resources are available, but no one is going to hand you free money, a job, and a place to live. The most they could do is send you to counseling, give you forms to apply for food stamps/Medicaid, steer you towards a vocational center/job clinic, or put you on a list to receive discounted housing. (If you live in a crowded place like Chicago and its suburbs, you'll have a long line of people in front of you for the free or discounted gibs.) I imagine Spoony is one of those people who refuses to get off his chair and apply for any aid that doesn't involve having the government immediately and completely taking care of him for life.

Spoony's best move right now would be to wrap everything up with his house and move in with someone who'll let him stay for awhile, provided he hasn't burnt all of his bridges with everybody. Optimistic, I know...

I'm not sure what he have to go back to... I often thought "original Might and Magic series is as cooky as Ultima", but Sseth made lovely "reviews" of 'em now, atleast 6 - 9, even the spinoffs. He lied about being super hardcore Fallout 1 & 2 nerd... probably the same with Baldur and the like, Pornjared is still on his FF series... The window of opportunity is gone.

And yeah, did he even play ONE Ultima game? Love the videos but he got all gameplay from others, right?

Its been a long time since I've seen his review videos but I believe he mentioned himself he took footage of some of the earlier games from other sources. You do see a few games where his characters are outright called 'Spoony' though I'm sure if you combed through the clips you can find some that don't seem to be his.

Yeah, thing is though, if my memory serve me well, it wasn't until he had to mix PC with NES Ultima footage he said it, like he was forced to. Given the graphics, Unlike Irate Gay Who mixed NES Ghost's 'N Goblins with Mame Footage (God Mode), to pretend he bested the NES one :lol: . but maybe he only played the good ones? Fallout 2 LP taught us he sucks at RPG-trials.
