That would imply anyone at Disney with the power to course-correct gives a shit, or understands what happened. No one with a MBA gives a single solitary fraction of a fuck about this nerd shit beyond how much money it makes.

All those articles about "Trolls" adn "Fandom Menace Incels" aren't to convince the rank and file normies. Its so when they have to explain to the C-levels why shit went south, they can include press coverage of "racists hate asians", comboed with the shifting demographics and millenial surveys & positive influencer tweets showing that a short term hit to one property will bring long-term benefits to the studio as a whole.

Iger was fine to let the woke squad run wild until Solo tanked. Marvel won't get any intervention until one of the big films does poorly. And don't think the eye of Sauron turning to the woke shennigans with your favorite property will be a good thing. If there is one thing Hollywood has shown, its that the only lessons its learns are the wrong ones.

It's not that they don't care, it's that the C-suite at Disney wants to force that on people. They're not a culture-follower, they're a culture-maker and they know it. That means they force as much of their social agenda through media as they can no matter how little people want it.

The first thing I ever heard about TFA was:

"there's a stormtrooper and he takes off his helmet... and he's BLACK?!"

I never thought about, nor cared about the race of the Stormtroopers. I knew they were outfits, but they could have had robots in their ranks for all we know. I never saw Attack of the Clones, either, so I figured they might all be super soldier clones like Agent 47 from Hitman. And I only knew they were outfits because Luke wears one in the first movie and Leia calls him a manlet when he shows up.

That's how they fuckin' kicked this whole mess off. Racial & sexual subversion is such a zero effort way of giving the consoomers hard dicks. When that's your biggest selling point, how am I supposed to be confident that you have a solid movie behind that trailer?

So, I never saw The Force Awakens. Then I never saw The Last Jedi. Nor Rogue One or Solo, either, and I've just heard everything from "well it wasn't that bad" to "it's fucking cancer".

I love watching shitshows like this thread, where people tear the whole thing apart, but I still wonder why anyone with any sense would go out of their way to watch this shit,. Thank Christ Almighty for the "consoomer" meme, it's about time we have a snappy way of making fun of idiots who feel an obligation to keep participating in a franchise long after its expiration date.

Moving a little from Rise of the Palpatine, just now I discover that Galaxy's Edge has a drone show where two x-wing replicas fly through the sky, was this talked about already? If so I want to know in which page because knowing how Disney likes to cut corners it was probably a disaster or completely underwhelming.

As far as I know Galaxy's Edge is a fairly high quality park element. The only things wrong with it are: 1) diversity hire main character was promoted as essential to the movies, and never showed up in them. 2) planet never shows up in the movies despite being teased as the last refuge of the Resistance. 3) all the aliens are gay nuwars aliens with gross flat faces and huge nostrils, not the interesting ones like Twi'leks.

You're wrong. Very close, but they aren't wanting to shape culture beyond what people buy. What they are wanting to do is ensure they don't have another "Song of the South" situation on their hands. So they are hewing close to the forefront of wokeism so their shit can still be on the "right side of history" and making money for the next 100 years.

Now, individuals below C-level may have their own non-profit driven ends, but Disney isn't Soros.

The entire executive level of the Disney megacorporation is Jewish and left-wing. The entire production wing is Jewish and left-wing. All the directors except a handful of diversity hires and the holdouts from the old Lucasfilms are Jewish and left-wing.

This isn't a difficult equation. Bob Iger might like money, but Disney has a built-in fanbase that will never stop funding them. They no longer worry about irrelevancy, and anything they push has been an acceptable commodity no matter how bad it is.

Back in the web 1.0 days, there was one of the proto-memes f the 100 things I will do when I become an Evil Overlord or something similar. Basically ways to keep yourself from being subject to the fates of most fictional villians. Anyway, one of the them was "My council of advisors will feature an ordinary 5 year child. Any flaws they discover in my plans will be immediately fixed".
Studio boards are so divorced from actual reality they are surprised by these failures, despite the very clear and obvious warning signs.


I was pretty well done with MCU...well, really after IM3, but fully checked out after Endgame. And that was before the new "Woke Phase" was announced.
