Nintendo used to claim all Nintendo footage and take the revenue. They then started a program that if you joined they would split the money with the content creator. Phil also scoffed at this and just refused to play Nintendo games because he wouldn't get 100% of the money.

Personally, I can't blame him for that one. Nintendo would use youtube to takedown entire videos that used small parts of it's various works in obviously fair-use ways. If you used a 30 second clip of a game in your 20 minute video critical of the game they are happy to either takedown or claim 100% revenue from the entire thing. Then they 'graciously' offered to give you back a bit if you agreed to a number of stipulations in their 'creator's club' and for them to review your stuff beforehand- no livestreams. Nice video you have there, shame if someone were to... DMCA it without considering fair use.

In fact I couldn't understand why people were still trying to put out content on Nintendo and either losing half their revenue or going through hoops trying to hide from the algorithms (i.e. Angry Joe).

Phil's main problem is the same as anyone with even decent careers--he spent well beyond his means, and had no long-range plans (expanding his brand, making good investments, etc.). Phil is actually miles above most of the other "content creators" in the fact he actually realizes this thing is a career, not something to do for "fun". People who try to combine the two (Spoony, Mumkey, others) usually crash and burn.

I'm going to need to see something to back this up. I think you are mistaken. There are multiple Wakondo tour videos where Phil goes through his entire house and I've never seen this secret room. You can look up the floor plan of these condos, there is no extra room.

Downstairs there is the garage, the foyer, a coat closet, the laundry room, a bathroom, the kitchen with a pantry, and the living room.

Upstairs is the hallway, a small linen closet, a bathroom, Phil's office, Kat's office, and the bedroom with a walk-in closet with attic access, the storage nook, and en suite bathroom.

The only place he was storing furniture was the nook. He had a large chest of drawers and a couple broken office chairs. He claimed he took the chairs to the dump months ago.

I am going to have to debunk this extra room of furniture theory.
