i agree with this. i don't like blaming the actors, no actor in the world can salvage a movie when the writing is just garbage.
it was the same with people hating on hayden christensen after attack of the clones for his awkward romance scenes. like, seriously, even the best actor in the world couldn't make the retarded lines about sand sound good, it's not fair to blame hayden for them.

Rian Johnson didn't care. I get the impression that he left things like they were because he knew that he would not have to be the one to fix it. I'm also sure that at the end of the day, Johnson and Kennedy are going to take the blame internally. JJ’s first memberberry film made a ton of cash and was generally positively received. He can point to that and say that this one failed from trying to fix Johnson'sabortion, which isn't entirely false.

Abrams signed off on Johnson as well. Similar to Johnson, he thought it didn't matter cause he wouldn't need to clean up the mess...

But, he has a claim in this shitshow. This film is payback from how he treated Ardnt...

I actually think he takes the worst of this. Not from Disney, but from WB...

Lucas and Arndt did, but then JJ and Kasdan (with the blessings of Lady Kennedy and Sir Iger) threw that shit out because Iger wanted nostalgia money and JJ just wanted to make his own version of A New Hope where only his OCs are glorified while the originals are shat on. I talked about this rough draft and expansion by Arndst back on page 522.

They purposely reduced Luke and the OT heroes into the role of losers because they didn't want them to overshadow Rey and the nu-gang even though all they needed to do was set them up as successful but aging mentor figures who were too old to take part in the action, or just have them as fucking ghosts. Luke's only purpose now was only to be Yoda 2.0 regardless if it made sense. 8 years on an island doing nothing but hiding out despite the First Order not even being the dominant galactic government until after they blew up not-Coruscant and then leaving a map leading to himself that accomplishes nothing makes about as much sense as anything else in this garbage trilogy, and don't get me started how fucking retarded JJ's portrayal of the New Republic is. I could keep ranting about this bullshit but I've done so too many times in this thread that I'm sick of repeating myself and trying to explain to people just how much of a hack JJ is.

A bit of controversial opinion: J.J killed the sequel trilogy in the very first film.
Let me explain, TFA was a boring retread of episode 4 with just about everything (besides Poe) being completely uninspired. After it, there were two options how to proceed:
1. Follow the obvious plotline J.J set up, which would have made, at best, a mediocre and forgettable film series.
2. Completely rewrite or subvert J.J's film for something that is remotely interesting. But without going too far, lest you anger the mouse for going too far off script.
Both options are bad and would have pissed off most of the viewers. So I can't fault Ruin for at least trying to make something creative (I can however fault him for shit script and ignoring character history so he could have his subversions).

The long and short of it is:
JJ is an uninspired idiot.
Ruin is a malevolent, spiteful idiot.

Both fucked up their movies in their own way. JJ by making it a lame retread, that pissed on everything of the past, Ruin by being a gloating chucklefuck who was obsessed with doing shit that the audience didn't expect (such as the audience expecting a thrilling, coherent plot).

Both should never be allowed to write a script ever again.
