Didn't watch this shitshow beyond the rip and some scenes.

I legit nearly die of laughter whenever Daisy dies, because not only was it a hard and awkward cut from Finn doing a face reaction to her laying down, but I legit didn't know she was dead for like five seconds. She is so shit as an actress, I was more reminded of Chris' crashing into slumber than death, and began laughing when it happened.

Then Kylo crawled out of the hole and I laughed harder.

Skip reading this until this calms down, but I guess Ruin has a shot still or some shit according to some /tv dude if this botches?

Cool, I'll just not watch it either when this botches.

So two of my friends went to see it: one liked it but still hated many parts of it, while the other (I'm not kidding you) genuinely cried. On top of that, I told my parents what was supposed to be the master "twist" in the end. They're still gonna see it but I think I killed a little of hype of actually seeing a good movie, so that's a win I think?

Havent watched the Mandalorian yet but holy fuck this music is good. The theme music came up on my recommended list and I love the woodwind/bass combo.

Actual new styles of music in Star Wars. I never thought I'd see anything beyond John Williams rehashes ever again.

I figure I should just post the lecture from the master himself. Sanderson doesn't really go into anything new per se, but he is the first person to truly dig in and explain why the magic in Lord of the Rings and Superman works and WHY. From a narrative standpoint. Interesting lecture for all you aspiring autists. I mean, artists.


JJ, if you are reading this thread, you need to watch it too.

I won't belabor this much more because it's already become a tangent, but my point was more about the scale of time being comical given the way everything built on the history is presented. Less about the state of the world at the time of the movies themselves. Of course everything in Star Wars is to a grand scale, so it makes the choice of thousands of years and thousands of star systems unsurprising and somewhat fitting, but George definitely could've thought it out a lot better. Especially given that later on he decided to take a detour into "political intrigue". As bad as the scripts got in general, any talk about history really came off sounding like a first draft.

The issue is not Ahsoka herself.

The issue is that once Ahsoka's main arc ended, Filoni realized she was a fan favorite, and kept bringing her back, ultimately undermining the entire point of her character, which was a tragic disillusionment in what she originally believed brought about by circumstance and mirroring Anakin's own failures later. No one would have any issue with her had she stuck to this character paradigm and simply not returned. Instead Filoni found ways to cram her into absolutely everything, taking everything remotely well-done or interesting about her character and using it to swing for the cheap seats.

Everything done with her from the end of her initial arc onwards has been desperately holding into her original success, and that's a travesty. There's some amazing character potential in how she was set up and none of it is used right because Filoni is too obsessed with riding her initial success to show restraint. That's not on Ahsoka as a character, that's on Filoni. And now that Disney Wars is in control, you can expect that she's going to be warped until she's just as awful and broken as the rest of the franchise.

Also Shaak Ti was objectively a more interesting character until Filoni focusing on Ashsoka caused her to be sidelined.

The only way i could see Ahsoka possibly working is one of two ways : 1) only introduce her later some time AFTER Anakin actually earn being a Jedi Knight unlike in Filoni Wars (reminder it starts weeks or a few months after AOTC where he killed a whole Tusken Raider tribe, was immature, reckless, can't control either his emotions or hormones, disobey orders, put the person he was supposed to protect in deadly danger, etc.) 2) Give her a different Master but keep having Anakin and her interact during the war.
Filony Wars was a precursor to the dark age we are in, i miss Genndy Wars

Just finished watching the camrip: Jesus I regret wasting those two and a half hours.

I think the second worst fault of the movie is how it got frankly too boring to watch during the middle of it to the point I barely remember what happened.

The worst thing, I found, was the macabre use of Carrie Fisher's remaining recorded lines spliced together while actors pretended they were not interacting with a remastered corpse. Its so bad, it reminds me of when people edit in characters in parody youtube videos. Seems like JJ tries to explain this by having Leia be on deaths door with all her energy sapped and just die of dementia.

Overall a pretty shitty movie, though perhaps slightly better than Episode 1; Maybe I would have a worse opinion of it if I actually paid money for this.

Do you know the history of Disney's statements about future movies? The Obi Wan movie was supposedly off and on a bunch of times before they finally announced it'd be made as a Disney+ series instead. Even if it's Iger saying it, their word means nothing.

Similar thing happened when the first EA Star Wars Battlefront was released and people would use the MVP system to spoil Han Solo's death by having their avatar the screen cap where Han Solo is stabbed by Kylo Ren, lmao.
