In their eyes it's impossible to ever be biased against or oppressed or anything if you're white because some very specific white people in the past were shitty. I'd love to get some of the supposed benefits of being white they seem to think we all have. That is exactly what happened. They indoctrinated the kids to the point where they won't sing Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, as the OP admits. Imagine your six-year-old coming home from school and telling you that her friend isn't allowed to sing in the school's non-religious Christmas program because they're atheists. At school we were given pocket bibles by Christian groups a few times. But while in principle I disagree with any kind of political activity aimed at captive minors, I can pretty much guarantee it had no effect on us one way or the other. Kids from religious families remained religious and vice-versa. Plus it's was nice to get a free book.
