I'm not sure what subreddit this is from, but it does seem somewhat plausible. considering the movie in its current form is almost incomprehensible.

This screams "JJ shill" to me, since it's clear the goal of this piece of shit staffer for JJ disguised as a leaker is to exonerate the uncreative hack with this post.

The part about Matt Smith is 100% true. He was cast or considered for a role in the movie and was (according to UK media) going to be paid for a major role but he isn't in the final project.

There's no real explanation on it and there's no hint of her having a secret lightsaber in any recent nuEU content. Its possible that Visual Dictionary shit @TheMysteriousAHole got ahold of has an answer. But I bet it doesn't. At best the book probably hints that Rey built her own lightsaber by reading the Jedi texts despite that there's nowhere she could learn to read that shit.

I actually remember a couple of years ago an old author was upset that they re-used one of his characters for a recent SW comic or novel but he didn't get any credit for it. Apparently he claimed he couldn't do anything because of the original deal he signed (can't remember who but I talked about him once in this thread maybe back in early 2018 ). Disney also semi-regularly references shit from old stuff only to butcher it and they still release old EU content under Legends (except in France and other few regions for some reason) with no issues as far as I can tell. And despite having Zahn and Luceno on their direct payroll, they don't really use anything of theirs, and even Zahn says he has no control over Thrawn despite creating him, and only Filoni can decide his future fate.

There are plenty of memorable moments from the original Matrix, like the obvious bullet dodging and cyberspace graphics and shit like that. Compare to the third one, which was just an unintelligible mass of special effects.

Disney executives being stupid and thinking that they can please everyone seems in check with your typical corporate retardness but to be honest it also feels like those JJ did nothing wrong leaks.

Leia could have taught her since she is now a Jedi that quit on her first day. It's not the fact that she built a lightsaber that bothers me. It's that we don't get the cool new saber while this is the third film cooming over luke/anikins or leia totally unique lightsaber.

Not in the film, but I'm sure there's a comic series coming soon to explain exactly how this was so, and a tie-in novel.

Maybe, but why not have "leaked this" before? That is by say the 16th or 17th. Everything else was pretty much leaked, what difference does it make if a JJ lackey leaked info about behind the scenes drama which he could deny having a hand in? What's Disney going to do? Remove him from a movie he already finished?

The thing is, a lot of what he's talking about already did leak. This isn't precisely new knowledge- reshoots were known to be extensive, for example, and the Matt Smith stuff was widely reported in the UK.

While a lot of this tries to excuse JJ's involvement, there's a lot of this that macks of truth.

It's certainly the most plausible theory on what's happened so far.

I know. It's very plausible, but I don't like how this could be used by JJ and crew as a get-out-of-jail-free card for him. Granted he already has that courtesy of Rian Johnson, Kathleen Kennedy, and Bob Iger who few like.
