Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

You know, that recent hashtag defending Ryan Johnson made clear something for me.

I read some tweets, and if you read between the lines they aren't actually praising Ryan Johnson. It was 100% spite. They are actually attacking the old fans and specifically the Fandom Menace.

They were praising exactly what the old fans hated, like a checklist. I mean if they actually liked Ryan they would be praising what he supposedly did right, but that wasn't the case. It was like a checklist of fan complaints. "So you manbabies hated Rey being a Mary Sue? Well, Thank you, Ryan Johnson, for making a strong female character". And so on.

I had my doubts before, but now I'm sure Star Wars was just a casualty of the woke mob that is simply using it as a weapon. They don't actually like Star Wars, but the idea of pushing away people that do.

Why, or how, they became so sad as human beings is a mystery to me.

also Merry Christmas everyone!

But you need to establish what the theme of the trilogy should be first before you start writing it out and not figure it while making it.
Does it need a fucking theme? can't it just be fun space wizards swinging stupid laser swords around?

That is how it always is with the Fashionistas, they don't care about Gays or Trannies, they don't care about representation. They care they can use Star Wars as a Fashion badge to say how fashionable they are. They are like Locusts..they find something popular consume it until nothing is left but a wasteland and move onto the next Fashionable thing. They just use "Wokeness" as a bludgeon to beat the "Gatekeepers" who don't want them around because they are awful toxic assholes.

If you're not familiar with how the intersectional social justice crowd rolls, this is what it always does. Descend upon a franchise like locusts, with the intention of taking the series away from those who cared about it, and warping it to fit their own personal vision - a vision which cares nothing for it and intends to use it solely to propagandize. Quality writing and characterization will be removed and replaced with more amenable ones that push only the party line.

It's sick.

ST Prime Time line isn't the same as the original time line. Due to rights issues, there's three separate time lines: Original / Paramount, Prime, and Kelvin.
I've heard that before. Sadly no one seems to question this ass reaming as long as it's stamped with the brand name.

the orange lizard
You mean yellow yoda? I wish her design was as interesting as that sounds.

She's just there for no reason and in the dictionary its the only place where you'll find out that she's Lando's troon'd out son and why she had to be in the movie. I mean seriously, was the movie such a fucking mess they didn't even have time to add what should be a very important piece of info to one of the film's new main characters? Especially when said character is the only child of the original heroes left alive?
So that leak was actually true, but they just cut it out for time, but then made it canon anyway... :drink:

Implying Revan will be a "he."

Though on a lighter note, I got into Star wars reference books, and got one from the library it's about Aliens, ( Called Star Wars Alien Archive and it's supposed to fit in with the shitty nu-canon, but there's a gem too funny for me not to share.

Sorry for the crappy scans. If it's ok, I will share more.

Even the Ithorians hate their shitty ripoff.
New Noghris are scrawny grey monkeys with tiny midget legs. Not very impressive. Instead of having unreadable alien faces with black eyes it's just a weird human face. Also the text mentions teeth and claws but the image doesn't show any.

Who doesn't? They're fucking hideous. Also I find it amusing that Hidalgo keeps pushing these guys as "Ithorian cousins with a different name" despite all concept art and promo shit calling them Ithorians.

Also this thing was in IX.

According to the IX dictionary, his species has no eyes, nose, ears or even a brain. Instead its main sensory organ and nerves are in its mouth, so its head is just one giant fanged mouth and it constantly needs to grin to be able to sense things. The machine over his mouth is used as a substitute for brain, eyes, and ears... These things are naturally born like this? Who came up with these horrors? Does someone in the costume department have a fetish for brainless things? Or is this a metaphor for how Disney wishes its fans could be like?
What sick freak in-universe saw these things and decided they needed to be self-aware? If this were just a monstrous-looking alien creature that would be fine, but it just the face. This thing is like a grotesque parody of a human, it's straight out of a horror game.

Every melee weapon has the term "vibro" slapped on it (maybe it's Kennedy meddling again, like with her Squid fetish).
I noticed the same thing in the old EU to be fair.

Oh I don't doubt there is. One thing even the people praising it agree on with the people bashing it is that the pacing is pretty frantic and that they packed in more than enough to damn near flesh out another movie if they wanted.
I think it's because of this prevailing attitude that kids just can't sit still for longer than 90-120 minutes.
They also might have completely misinterpreted what people mean when they said you could cut about 1/3 to half of TLJ out and it wouldn't change a damn thing. They didn't mean that in terms of time, but the content that took up that time. Namely the Canto Bight shit.
Did it have to be a trilogy? Maybe TRoS could have been cut into a quadrilogy. The last one could be released exclusively on Disney +

So that's what they evolve into? I thought they'd retire and start a charity or they'd just rot in an exorbitant mansion no one goes near. Instead, they decided to do good in their lives and ironically make things worse.
It turns out that spending decades only paying enough attention to others to learn how to manipulate them and profit off them doesn't in fact teach you enough about people to understand their actual needs or how to run a society. Who knew?

So the threat are the Vong's own grey goo problem in your take.

Honestly my idea was to only vaguely allude to the extra-galactic threat in my hypothetical sequel trilogy in order to give whoever does the hypothetical sequel-sequel trilogy plenty of room to make their own story. It could be grey goo, I-cant-believe-its-not-cthulhu, warhammer 40k ripoffs, fucking dead space zombies, or anything thats different enough to star wars to prove an interesting contrast

For those keeping tabs, the RT audience score is STILL at 86%. You'd think they would be slightly less blatant.
Pretty sure I've never seen this kind of stability for a statistical score, which should vary at some point to one direction or another when updating.

It does seem blatantly to be rigged.. which seems like it should be illegal, if it isn't. Also, why would anyone trust or use RT User Score for anything from now on?

If we start talking about inserted politics (not that it never really stopped), a thing that always angers me about the Casino planet in TLJ (and no one talks about) is that the rich people there being the weapon sellers.
The largest corporations nowdays are the ones selling food, entertainment and fuel, not weapon manufactures. And that's going to be true for every setting where people eat and drive to work. But having an anti-rich rhetoric in fiction can only be towards military industrial industry, cigaratte sellers and big pharma (at least when they don't sell you expensive sex change surgeries and hormones) since they are acceptable targets. We can't dare to criticize entertaiment corporations or, god forbid, companies like Apple.

can't trust the user score, can't trust the critic score
RT is now useless as a whole

Literally the only thing you had to do to "fix" the sequel trilogy is not shit on Luke Skywalker.

Otherwise these movies aren't any worse than the PT.
You probably would have avoided the backlash. But, the movies still would have been criticized...

Though, the Disney "SJW shield" would have been way more effective...

The trilogy should have gone two ways after TFA(production wise) to salvage it:
  1. Persuading Abrams to just do the whole thing.
  2. Letting RJ finish up the trilogy.
The first would have been derivative product. But, it would have been serviceable...

The second would, at least, make for some sort of narrative cohesion. Whether good or bad, it would make some sort of sense.

Rian, clearly, had some sort of theme in mind. He needed to follow it through...

I mean he would get to take all the blame as well...

I weep that will never get Rinzler books to chronicle this shitshow. That would have been the greatest thing to come out of it...

I think one of the worst things they did was end TFA with Rey finding Luke. They should have ended the movie with Rey leaving the resistance, then you could have made like half of TLJ be Rey having wacky hi-jinks on her way there.

Also I would have made Luke go crazy over his failure instead of a jaded prick. That way when he meets Rey he acts all weird and you think he's just doing the Yoda thing, but it turns out he's fucking looney.

I legit believe that Leia falling into darkness while the new Republic is subverted by the old regime would've made for a better trilogy.
Personally I would have just bit the bullet and made Kylo full on evil. Not this waffling emo bad boy stuff.

Unlike Anakin who embraced the dark side to save his family have Kylo just be a selfish power hungry egomaniac using the Force for his own benefit.

If any of you have ever seen Dragon Heart Kylo would essentially be Prince Ivan.

People noticed this 40,000 reviews ago. Its at over 48,000 verified reviews and STILL at 86.
I was discussing this and somebody brought up a Metacritic controversy. The developers of a videogame, Fallout: New Vegas, would receive a bonus and royalties if the Metacritic score by critics was 85 or higher. For some reason, perhaps the company wanting to shaft people out of money, the score for Fallout: New Vegas was hardstuck at 84, despite being rated an 87 by audiences.
Somebody, somewhere, has a socioeconomic gain they either realize or want to keep others from realizing by keeping this Verified score above 85, but below 87 for some reason.
Maybe the director, or Kennedy, or Story Group would make more money or make less money by this score being 86. There's something contractual going on.
Because there is no other real explanation why this would be at 86 when 480 Verified reviews were in, when 1480, 14,800, 24,8000, 44,000 and 48,000 reviews were in, without any deviation or fluctuation from that 86 score.
