One thing I've noticed, is that people have VERY unrealistic views of what goes on in jail (never been in actual prison). For one "womenbeaters will be killed/beaten. Not happening. 2 out of 3 guys in jail are on remand and not proven guilty. Of those, probably 50-75% are in there because some stupid bitch lied/exaggerated/hit him before he pushed her back, etc. The system makes it extremely difficult for men accused of domestics to get bail.

Nobody said anything about accused wahman abusers in jail, much less prison.

I'm not even personally factoring in the possibility of prison rape for Snakething. What I'm saying is, statistically, pedos like him face a significantly higher risk for having their fucking skull bashed in if they're exposed to general pop, and that info circulates among the inmates. The data on this is clear. It's why they have to be segregated. I don't need to have gone to prison to say this. Correctional Officers will even tell you this. Sometimes the guards are even in on it in an indirect manner (leaking the conviction info).

Prison is interesting, because even though we supposedly put the dregs of society there, it's almost commendable how the inmates have their own code of conduct. Most are more lawful evil, or even lawful neutral, than chaotic evil.

Having spent a fair bit of time in there ( probably 5 months total, incrementally), I'll also say that sexual violence does not happen in jails, in general population, including maximum security. Beatings, however, do, and are horrifying in that you can't do anything to help the poor bastard.

A good chunk of people in prison were fucked up pretty early in life by being abused, sexually or otherwise. Their inner child is still pretty goddamn pissed about it and they absolutely do not like people who abuse children.

tl;dr is to read about starting grassroots political movements and begin networking with professionals in your area who are subject matter experts on animal abuse, the crime statistics, and have a passionate interest in eliminating the problem. Contact your local state representative and senator.

Get the ear of your local state rep and senator. They can be a lot easier to get a hold of than your DC members. You'll get a response from your DC member's local office, and there are ways to work up the ladder, but your state level members live and work in your area. Some will give more of a shit than others like any other job, but that's the route I would go. You should get a phone number, you do in my state, and an email that goes to them and not an aide. Volunteer and hook up with your local shelters. Would knowledgeable higher ups in their organizations like to give a tour to the member and talk about animal abuse in the member's district and the state at large?

Take the initiative to make it happen. Do you have an friends or family members that are cops? How do you think their K-9 officers feel about animal abuse? Would they rally their FOP chapter in support of legislation? I have no idea how that might work, but it's a line you could try. Try to find allies within the vetrinary community, like the licensing board, to get behind legislation. There are people out there who are knowledgeable and passionate about the issue, you just have to take the initiative to get them together. Network, make calls, volunteer with these groups and show you're serious. Read up on grassroots political movements. I'm sure there are guides to follow. I'm just speaking off the top of my head and might be going about this the hard way.

If you really want to pull at some heartstrings once the ball is moving, get organizations that train service animals for veterans with PTSD and TBIs on board. The traditional trainers who provided animals in the past are unable to keep up with the rise in the use of service animals for veterans, so it can get kinda sketchy now beyond just the complete lack of oversight regarding service animals in general. Training programs where the veteran works with a suitable pet they already own, or a screened rescue, over a series of months are gaining popularity. Some of them are shady. Some are legit. The programs in my state have all the training done by guys who train police dogs and are active or former K-9 officers themselves. Do any local orgs fit the bill?

You are going to have to run your ass ragged to get it done. That or luck out that your local members are animals lovers horrified by this shit, rightly so, who aren't lazy shits and decide to go on a crusade once you bring it to their attention.

First degree murder, treason in times of declared war, and extreme sex crimes against children are the "big three" in my book. Unfortunately, the Supreme Court tackled that very question and disagreed, 5 to 4, with that line of thinking. See Kennedy v. Louisiana.

Oh I didn't intend to mean it that way (that pedophile wasn't worse than animal abuse) but that it was sad that without the pedo evidence they probably wouldn't have done jack shit to this guy and people like them, bc animal abuse laws are so lax.
