Weight loss support thread

I'm on the european Version of Alderall and the great thing is that your body gets used to eating less so even if you don't take it you are still less hungry.

I lost 40 lbs with a refeed day every 2 weeks plus a drug similar to Alderall.

I didn't take it for weightloss tho I actually need it. But weight loss is a great side effect for fatties.

Yes exactly. My body seems to be used to eating less, almost like getting a gastric sleeve.

So I need some support/ideas.

I have been on a fitness journey for the last couple of months -- trying to work through depression and get healthier. Been doing weight training and cardio. But then two weeks ago I got sick--- throat thing that had me coughing everywhere. Only went to the gym once when I thought it was done, then woke up the next day sicker than ever. Didn't want to get anyone else sick, so I stayed away, especially since I use a lot of machines. Even had to cut Christmas short because of illness. I went to the gym day before yesterday and did an hour of weight training and cardio, but I am still feeling discouraged and having trouble finding motivation.

This has happened before -- where I have been really into working out for a while, but then due to circumstances I am immobilized for a while and can't. Then I lose all motivation and let myself go. I don't want that to happen again. Any suggestions?

Do you have any friends to go with? Going with other people means you can hold each other accountable and make less excuses. Be honest with yourself about when you are making excuses versus when you are actually too sick or have an injury that prevents you from going.

Some days are shit, and just getting dressed and making it to the gym is an effort. Even if all you can do that day is just show up for 20 minutes, that is a hell of a lot more than nothing. That's still better than the couch.

I often go with the s/o. Most of my friends don't go to my gym (I live on the edge of a large metropolitan area).

Usually I am good about getting my s/o to call out my excuses. But he was watching me hack up spew and was like "Um, no, stay in bed." He's a war vet, so he knows what he is talking about.

I don't feel like I should suggest anything beyond, "holy shit, get your actual physical illness dealt with before you even think of the rest." But if you don't already have something like this in place, I'd say just develop a light home routine to keep yourself moving. Doesn't have to be anything complex...some bodyweight stuff, some resistance loops, maybe find a cardio workout on YouTube that doesn't annoy you.

Without going into too much detail, I've been losing some weight.

Have kept myself below 1000 calories a day, dropped 40lbs over several months. Pants don't fit even with a belt, they bunch up so much around the waist they slip off. Hesitant to buy new ones until I'm done. Wife is becoming paranoid, women come up at parties and tell me I look good. People have been telling me I look younger, too.

There's a mind-over-matter aspect to all this, the moment I notice I'm hungry I look in a mirror and think about all that fat. Somedays I forget to eat, nothing tastes as good as not looking like a slob. The big goal is the chin, don't mind a little extra around the waist but not the face.

I'm not working out right now, hard to do that when you are fasting. When I hit the right waist size, I'm starting cardio for 6 months then moving onto weights. I should look like early-2000s Brad Pitt within 2 years.

So. I'm going to be trying to get into shape; I've been on the streak of thinking about staying on track with workouts and eating but sometimes giving up. Recently, I've gotten some BCAA's powder for after my workouts. What I plan on doing is having a day of upper body workouts and the next day having lower body workouts; after those two days, I'll have a day of cardio which following the next two days I'll do the same upper body workout the first day and then lower body the day after. I'll have two rest days on the weekends.

I've been trying to control what I eat, but I constantly feel hungry (especially at night). Any hints on how to handle that?
Eat filling foods with less calories in them, like a salad. Don't go putting some fancy dressing on it, as it's full of shit, about one tablespoon of olive oil per serving should be enough, and about 2 tbsps of lemon, for taste, but you don't want your salad to "swim" in juice, it ruins it.

I do have a problem myself; I kept letting myself eat even from not being hungry. When this happens I let myself eat shit I shouldn't probably be eating because I want to be lean and have abs.

Ok, thanks. Any other filling foods you can suggest?

Oatmeal is pretty filling. get the full grain stuff, not the cut version, lots of fibers and digests slowly.
Salads do kind of help, but part of the reason I believe I feel hungry so often is that I have to take birth control pills for medical reasons (which is part of the reason for my weight gain).

Well if it's hormonal then it's bound to be more difficult. Have you tried intermittent fasting? What about lifting? That's a pretty certain way of burning lots of calories in a consistent manner.
Give a shot to the oats, too, should be filling for a long period, unlike a salad.
