That's how it used to be: SA used to basically just collect CC info and pass it to the payment gateway through a webform, basically just HTTP put requests. This was common with back room shops until you got into the aughts a bit and embedded APIs became a thing, and from what I understand how SA used to log the info clear text incase their shitty code or servers broke so they could resubmit if needed. This info was later used in a SA witchhunt in a manner that was probably not terribly legal then, but is definitely haram today.

From what I understand, SA uses a different payment processor (or the same payment processor but with upgraded forms) where SA no longer touches your data and just serves up the payment processor's forms and sends everything to them encrypted.

If you were a fucking idiot you could probably pull some Code-fu and insert a listener/logger that redirects data - as I recall that is hard to do now, since processors are looking for the transaction data to come from the client and not the partner server; and if you are found doing this you will likely be instantly banned from the network - but as they can't even delete FYAD and the admins have buttons that will break the forum if pressed....I doubt anyone is that level of capable of this sort of man-in-the-middle bullshit.


Now, if you suspect fraud, you can request a record report from your provider that they may or may not comply with (or if you are not a retard, you are databasing (or at least spread-sheeting) your receipts); since SA doesn't ship anything, there's no "shipping" address collected, only a billing address that is PII so they may not provide that.
In addition to that, unless SA is logging Transaction Number to Forum Action (unlikely since Mods/Admins can do that shit for free) there would be no way to turn that data in actionable info.

Likely its a scare tactic. When they were logging the data, they did exactly that to out and ban a perma'ed poster at least once, because a mod ( I think Icequeen, maybe Fistgrrl) had a grudge against them, and it caused some forums drama when it came out. I don't when (or really if) they changed systems/processors, or how scummy or dumb their processor is and if it would give up billing data.

If SA did ban by doing after-the-fact look ups they & the processor would be on the hook for some very serious PII-compromise shit. (The last payment processor I dealt with, which was many moons ago, did give you the ability to black list names & (esssentially) numbers from your gateway, and had a check box for "We've got a list of suspected fraudsters & accounts tied to dubious fraud. Tell any card on this list to fuck straight off from checking out at your site?", but that was on the front end.)

However, IIRC, the way they use now is to check & compare IP logs. I believe SA logs your IP address when you post, so mods can check IPs between accounts.
