07:10 I made my first comic at 7 to piss my big brother who had a comic club
I was tripping on ducks, Scrooge, Donald Duck
08:00 I had a big manga phase when I was 10 11, Ranma 1/2. That was the most trans manga that was possible to find... Super misogynist, full of transphobic jokes
08:37 I began several comic project after that mainly after my coming out at 13, my big brother comic club, for 6 years, we made thousands and thousands of comic pages on my big brother's teachers I've never met.
After that, I begin a good twenties comic series online or on paper that I never led to conclusion because after a few weeks, I say "My God, it's shit!"
09:20 I thought It will be the same thing with Assigned Male, I put it online, because some folks told me it was funny. I thought I'd delete it after 6 weeks and pretend I never happened like all my previous comic
09:40 something magic happened, it was TERFs for Trans-Exclusionary Radical Fuckers, it's English language
10:25 They really show me that my comic has some potential, they were writing article, that my comics were government propaganda
10:50 The answer of my harassers made me understand that I've touched something sensible
12:25 Half of the Internet believe I'm 14, it's "fucking weird"
13:00 You're organizing a world tour for 2020
15:30, I had an intern (Marie Ortie) working with me who were preparing a Visual Art degree and asked me to make an internship with me, she lived with me
During August, every day we made a page
16:30 we've made so much work in advance that, it's been since August, I haven't drawn anything
16:40 This let me since last month to work on my next novel, an illustrated novel
17:40 You often say you're shunned the comic scene in Québec, more popular abroad
18:25 While I'm recognize in the street in a little Norwegian town, in Germany. My comics are still not yet published in French, I got more books in bookshop in Spain or England than in Québec
19:10 We're talking of my upcoming tour, I got invited in Singapore, in Thailand, in Hong Kong... An entire tour in South Africa, while ordinary people in Québec have no idea who I am.
22:05 You openly talk of the online bullying you're victim, I think the common mortals have no ideas of the proportion it can take
A good day for me, I receive a hundred of death threats
For a good day, I mean when my comic become viral, it happen maybe once a week, and the buzz around it lasts a week, sometime it's all the month long
23:40 I had to get used to live with death threats
24:50 I've decided early in my career that my haters will be part of the adventure
25:00 TERFs are a lesser pain, are laughable, they remind me of some cartoon villains laughing in their cave with their cape
25:15 We arrive to bullying from far right fora, alt-right, it becomes much more morbid and violent
I decided to stage them in my comics, they're a goldmine of ideas, inspiration,
26:05 One of their trick, is to invent every kind of rumors
The most frequent, often seen on the Reddit, is that I'm not really trans, it's just a decoy to make comics about trans
27:30 I learn things on me everyday
27:50 Things that I'm 50 and never really transitioned
28:10 Literature about my genitals, there are people who spend hours debating what king of genital I have
30:05 When I was younger, I was gender non-conforming
34:15 There are trans people who are angry about me because I'm famous but they are unable to name what bother them with me
35:00 They say "Sophie Labelle is problematic" we don't know why
It's something like the "crazy trans woman who is shooting in the media", a latent transmisogyny
35:45 Who is inspiring you in the community, we should follow?
Oh my God! I didn't prepared this one
[commercial break]
36:30 An emerging artist Oscar Wilde
For true, I can't tell, there is so much.
With my visibility, I try to share trans comic artist, Sabrina Symington,
Julia Kaye who made... there's a load of worlds in English,
Jacob Tobia who will appear on Netflix in She-Ra,
On the Canadian side, there is Kai Cheng Thom who wrote a book I Hope We Choose Love

39:00 How was the reception of your 2 novels "Ciel"? can we expect a 3rd tome?
The first question I was asked by a journalist was "How's possible that a trans person is friend with another trans person? Isn't it irrealist that there is two trans person in the same universe?"
Second question, "How's possible main character parents have no problem that she is trans?"
I read a review "It's strange there is no drama, how's possible that the main character doesn't die at the end"
41:30 We were talking of my haters, it's something that gave me a lot of confidence
I'm not mainstream but if anything happen, I can go to the media, I got doxed, my books were sold out within a week
42:35 Presently, I working on a 3rd novel that will be illustrated
I've plans for a 3rd Ciel novel but I've decided to leave a year off to work on this illustrated novel
a format like Diary of a Wimpy Kid, text image but not comic
49:15 Where were you never invited and you'd like to go?
Francophone Africa
I got dates in South Africa but never in Algeria or Morocco, there are trans communities there
South America But it's harder, Brazil it's Portuguese, the rest it's Spanish, contrary to Europe where it's English or French
