Arin Hanson / Egoraptor / Grump - "Hey I'm Grump!" of Game Grumps fame, hypocritical SJW doxer, shat himself recording a let's play

I've heard the same. I'll try to find it, but I watched a video with information from someone who was black listed from working in the industry. Apparently the inside of the cartoon industry is all very insular and echo-chambery, with talent and interesting ideas being tossed aside for... well, whatever the animation industry is now.

There's a lot of ass-kissing and sexual favors going on.
IDK if this was ever verified, but EZPZ did a video on it where a person who allegedly used to work in the industry says everyone in there is autistic and spreads STDs to each other.

Arin? Is that you working on the thundercats reboot?

The Lovelies are up to new levels of autistic planning, the likes of which has never been seen before.

This fan, a comedy musician by the handle "Insane Ian", has decided he's going to do a tribute album for NSP's cover album. Okay: a bit weird, but what's the issue? Fans do covers/remixes of the Grumps' stuff all the time.

Well about that:
Yep it's a Kickstarter. First of its kind from the Grumps' fanbase surprisingly.

He's asking for money in order to make this tribute album happen. $3,800 to be exact, because "you need to pay the licensing fee on anything, even if you did it for free". As in, he's not just putting this on YouTube or anything: oh no, he plans on selling these albums in stores, by badly covering an already successful bands' covers, dressed up as Danny Sexbang, and thinks he can somehow accomplish all of this with $4,000. And the best part: some Lovelies are actually backing it; it's already reached $241 with only 15 backers in less than an day.

Gotta say. I never thought I'd see the day where the Lovelies started ripping each other off for nonsense, but you know what the say about following the leader, something something cult strategies, and all that jazz.

Let's keep an eye on him. This sort of autism sometimes evolve into being a Lolcow. And Lolcows deserve threads here.

$241 in less than one day... Fuck. It's clearly a scam. Can't they see? No way he's licensing the whole thing, even if he needs to- which he probably does not- with such feeble amount.

And here I thought the Lovelies worrying about Dan's mental state after Rush's drummer's death was mental.

“Adventure Time vibes” Adventure Time seemed more inspired than this... nostalgic cash grab on a series only boomers really remember? That most of them probably only remember now for how sick of the show the voice actors were?
Then again, good ol’ Cartoon Network making sure most of their shows follow that same old artstyle. What’s creative freedom?

I don't know where people are getting the idea that he was baiting in the OG tweet.

Don't you get it dude? You're supposed to mindlessly have the same opinion as the majority, instead of forming your own opinion! Otherwise, you're clearly baiting.

EDIT: Just realized that the OG tweet was, in fact, bait. I'm dumb.

The entire video was proven false many times. And the “source” was this disgruntled guy that wasn’t blacklisted, but was just a pain to work with.

I won’t say much to avoid a power level, but it’s truthfully not that bad. There’s a variety of reasons as to why ideas are passed on, but it’s usually based on how easy it is to animate and how well it fits into target demographics. Animation people are some of the most unpc people you can meet in real life. The sjws are a minority, some just happen to have decently large positions.
With any competitive job, you usually have to know someone to get it because there’s hundreds of applications per position. That’s normal

Is that why everything is beanface now? Did they discover that it was the easiest possible style to animate so now it's all they do?

How do all of these let’s play channels that all play the same games not overlap? Like, is there anything really to be said during a Zelda play through that everyone else hasn’t already said since it came out?
I know I’ve joked that these videos are just story time/life update podcasts with a game in the background, but is that really the point of these? I’m including everyone in I’m this, not just the grumps
Its kind of dumb to say but people do tend to watch for "the commentary". A lot of Lovelies are probably teenagers or preteens so songs about dicks are right at their level of humor, or randomly getting mad at something.

There are groups like Vinesauce and streamers, and that's a bit different because they can play off the audience, but it does primarily still come down to their stories, their personality, and how well they vibe with the audience they have.

So people arent necessarily watching to hear Arin talk about how he feels about Zelda, or be informative about Zelda, they're literally just there for the random commentary.

It's more like listening to a talk show, a radio show or a podcast, while watching someone suck at a video game -- youre actually right on on that.
People tune in for late night shows and stuff like this all the time, and since half of it is being entertaining, the average viewer who thinks Game Grumps is entertaining probably isnt looking for another Zelda LP and if they find one, it might not be their speed.

Some of them do interesting challenges or they are there more for the "lets play" aspect of it, but a lot of the big, big names in that scene are there as personalities first and foremost. For instance, Pewdiepie famously shifted from doing LPs to primarily just doing whatever he wants and mostly runs the equivalent of an internet talk show/variety segment because he's marketed as Pewdiepie, the famous internet guy, and not Pewdiepie, the lets player.

It’s a bit of a mixture.
the bean face is extremely easy to animate and even easier to copy paste. 90% of cartoons these days have most assets animated months in advance. Walk cycles, basic talking, they can just plop those in for most cases and focus on animating the major scenes of an episode or new angles.
But another element to the bean head is just that it’s seen as avoiding a square or a circle. A bean is a quick and easy way to add depth, even if it’s looks awkward and has been way over done since Teacher’s Pet

Even if this was just Ross being a troll, I vividly remember Oney saying the only few people that defended the show were people that didn't want to lose favors on the LA animation industry.
I really wanna know, Why the fuck would you want to move to LA especially now-a-days

It's not that I don't believe you per se, because you've made some valid points here in the past about animation at large, and it was later found out through other means the legitimacy of that dude from the EZ PZ video (especially the orgy thing, because that's just sounds incredibly fucking dumb and unprofessional), but I've always wondered how you know all of this for sure more than this dude.

I wouldn't think it'd be powerleveling at this point to clarify how you know this to the extent of "I've worked in 'x' field for whatever amount of time", because it's pretty clear from your past posts that you have some knowledge of the inner workings of things in the industry, but that maybe your info might be dated when compared to now.

Again: I give credence to the things you say way more than I do the guy EZ PZ brought on, but I'm also more skeptical of just taking all this info from a random Kiwi on the Internet, if you catch my drift.

Well, I’m gonna stay a random kiwi.
But as I’ve said in other threads, I got my degree in marketing and did work as a marketer in SoCal. I stoped marketing in 2017 and through my work and through other connections I made and other means, I started work as something different that involves Hollywood and animation in general and I’ve personally spoken to and worked with many of the people related to various productions in one capacity or another.
Is that enough for you without sharing my resume?

Of course. I was just looking for something like "a marketer in SoCal" and that's it, and that would've pretty much told me everything since, from my own knowledge of that sect of business, that kind of job tends to lead to a lot of industry connections anyhow. But the fact that you did expand upon it without going too in-depth to powerlevel was more than enough.

Back on to the thread topic: while this does make Ross look like a contrarian asshat, I kinda wanna give him some benefit of doubt here, in that I feel like Ross is just saying that to get on the good side of those kinds of people in order for his show to have more of a chance at getting picked up (the more people on the inside who know you = more people to recommend and endorse your product). Especially given how the Thundercats Roar crew has responded similarly to criticism thus far albeit, as was brought up in the TCR thread, has had these people trying to silence bad opinions of the show under threat that they'll never work in the industry, which most everyone knows is BS. And Ross at least was able to acknowledge it's not as good as the versions that came before it.

Or maybe I'm just being way too forgiving because Ross seems to be the only truly humble person left in that company, and it'd really suck to see him go full-blown Arin Hanson due to arrogance.

I don’t know what Ross’s taste is. But seeing as all of the big youtube animators seem to gravitate towards lowbrow humor as it is, it wouldn’t shock me that he enjoyed it.

that said, you generally don’t want to insult anyone’s production for any reason. The animation industry is surprisingly small, and you’re bound to work with someone that can 3 degrees of separation with another crew. That’s not to say it doesn’t happen, but you gotta be a tad more careful. And not even because you fear your job, it’s mainly so you don’t have trouble finding a crew.
You just get more creative with your criticism since truthfully, no one tried to create a bad show.
But when you’re an internet guy, there is the chance that you don’t realize that and want to white knight a little.
