2020 Oscars Discussion - complain about how Uncut Gems nor the Lighthouse weren't nominated here

Sucks that Uncut Gems got snubbed *sigh*
though not really that surprised, the cast gave the audience impressions that it would be something completely different.

Also where is Konosuba in the animated category? I heard almost nothing about the other movies there.
Now that would have been a sight to see. Just think of how much of a shit show that would have been once people actually tried watching it. Though, I am surprised Promare didn't get anything. It was a fairly average movie, but its not like Toy Story 4 wasn't.

I'm surprised The Man Who Killed Don Quixote didn't get even a pity nomination considering the absolute shit Gilliam had to go through to get it released.

Gear up, folks, we're getting an #OscarSoWhite 2.0, especially if Joker sweeps. There's lots of blue checkmark black people posting very openly racist shit about white people if anyone wants to go salt mining.

You're acting like Hair Love isn't a lock to win best animated short. I also wouldn't be shocked if they threw Harriet a bone and gave it best original song (although odds are on Rocketman snagging it).

Lol at getting the optimistic rainbow for saying Joaquin is gonna win. He’s locked guys. Don’t listen to woke twitter, it’s clear Hollywood loves the movie both above and below the line. You don’t get things like sound and makeup nominations if there isn’t huge support for a film. Be happy for him, he deserves it.

Best picture will be between 1917 and Once Upon a Time... with Parasite and Joker as dark horses. Irishman has a Netflix bias working against it and ultimately the movie is more respected than loved. 1917 is that classy, historical war movie with a cool gimmick that the academy thinks gives them prestige. But I’d bet on QT.

It’s been 25 years since Pulp Fiction was nominated for Best Picture so it’s time to give Quentin the big one. The movie is everything these people love: it’s about Hollywood. It’s about boo hoo hoo how hard it is to be an actor. It stars two of the biggest movie stars on the planet. It takes place in the 60s so it’s perfect boomer bait. The good guys win in the end, so it’s not a total downer.

I’m not saying any of this as a reflection on any of these movie’s quality or lack thereof, just that how these things work. It’s not just about the movie but the narrative.

I don't see how that would affect people bitching on Twitter. It's Twitter. They're going to complain about everything.

Joaquin definitely deserves best actor, but Joker probably won't win any awards past that.

Once Upon a Time and Parasite were easily the best two films of the year, but the latter is more apt. to win best picture.

Cinematography is a toss up between 1917. for intense editing that makes the film feel like it was done in one take, and the Lighthouse, for the incredibly unsettling mood that it established.

Knives Out and Uncut Gems are good, not incredible. There's no reason why Sandler should have been nominated for best actor.

Where is most torrented?

Probably Uncut Gems because a good screener leaked weeks before it came out in theaters.

The woke crowd are reeeing over White people being nominated for awards in an industry that was originally pioneered by White people. So expect to see #OscarsSoWhite trending on twatter again.

I would like to see Joaquin Phoenix get best actor for Joker. QT deserves best director, but they'll give it to Bong just to appease the Woke hoard.

Tarantino will never get a best director award. He should've gotten it for Pulp Fiction, Inglorious Basterds and Django Unchained. But the Academy wants to promote movies that can be sold to a normie crowd, with movies that aren't rated R.

Lmaooooo Star Wars gets nominated only for sound design, visual effects, and the score. :story: I'm sad Alita: Battle Angel, Godzilla, and Detective Pikachu didn't get nominated for visual effects (fuck off, Lion King), though, but eh, I wasn't really caring much about the Oscars this year.

Toy Story 4 is most likely going to win Best Animated Feature because Disney, but I'd rather have any of the others win over it, even though the only movie I saw on that nominated list was HTTYD3 and that was still one of the better films I saw last year. 2019 honestly was kind of weak with gems here and there.
