I thought Canadian culture to Chantal was poutine, buttertarts, Hawaiian pizza, Kraft mac and cheese with ketchup, ketchup flavoured crisps, maple syrup, and Mandarin buffet chains. Anything else I'm missing here?

It takes place on Prince Edward Island (PEI) which is Canada but they never really mentioned it as Canada or typical Canadian things that I remember much. As a child, i just figured it was American.Was. . .Anne supposed to be Canadian? I don't remember that from the book at all. Granted, it's been twentysome-odd years since I've read it.
Regarding the word beezin’ I think you are referring to this post ...and I agree it should be added in the OP as it’s a prime example she isn’t bilingual at all. At the best she’s just parroting a few words she learned from Bibi; I remember she admitted she’s unable to have a conversation in french with him but I cannot find the reference, sorry.I think @Lisa Anna worked out a possible etymology here. IIRC, a YT comment asked if it derived from a slang term for "misbehaving," which Chantal denied because she doesn't actually speak French.

You did an amazing job, @Strine !
Kinda off topic but mildly interesting, i hope.About her not knowing French, even though she claims to, I specifically remember a time she basically outed herself to know no French at all.
In her storytime about how she got diarrhea on the ski trip in middle school, she said kids were calling her "Clifford The Big Red Dog" because she was fat and wearing a red sweatshirt. She turns around and asks Bibi how to say "big red dog" in French.
Big, Red, and Dog are very basic words in any language, right? If she can't string a simple sentence together with these basic words in French, then it's hilarious that she claims to know any French at all.

Is @pecansandies the author of Chantal's cycle image?Hi everyone,
the OP is going live as it is now. It's now within a single digit of character limit, so I've filled it to bursting! Thanks to everybody who helped out.
Yep, she was Canadian. She was originally from Nova Scotia and sent to live on Prince Edward Island. I'm quite certain Chantal has never read so much of a sentence from the book, but here we are.Was. . .Anne supposed to be Canadian? I don't remember that from the book at all. Granted, it's been twentysome-odd years since I've read it.
I believe so, or rather it was a spin off of Hambert's. I can't remember whether the chicken or the egg came first, but our dear @pecansandies initially created the cycle chart. Is @pecansandies the author of Chantal's cycle image?
I'm enjoying the turn this thread has taken in Chantal's absence; kind of sitcom flashback episode meets discussion of great Canadian literature.
I was about to post about the story, however I don't know how to download it either. You outdid yourself with the OP, @Strine - fantastic work!
I was minding my own business scrolling Youtube and saw the Poutine Princess posted a story. I don't know how to put it on here, but it's just her looking kind of crazy with dead, glassy eyes talking for a few seconds in her baby voice. "Hey guuuuys, howareyou, howareyou. Just wanted to check in quick to say I'm doing OK. I'm going through a lot of changes and giving myself a head start. I'll be back soon."

I'm almost starting to think she is actually staying on her diet just so she can come back and shock everyone with her extreme weight loss this time.
But this is Chantal, so I am probably being overly optimistic.
