It fits right in. Almost all SJW ideology requires an upper class education or at least aspirations. Only the rich can afford six figures to get degrees in absolutely worthless subjects of no use outside of academia. And the lower classes generally don't keep up with the latest trends in whatever 963 imaginary genders have been made up in the last 20 minutes, so they're literally Nazis. They routinely express contempt for the working class, especially any job filthy, disgusting males might work at. Work is beneath them.

Joking about genociding the lower classes is pretty de rigeur for the likes of MovieBob.
"Rich upper class dude wants to kill all the plebs over pollution" sounds like modern environmental activism, tbh.

Kanaya wears a hijab now.

Also, the clear "owo so kawaii fagmos" fanservice of Dave and Karkat switching shirt designs.

Kanaya wears a hijab now.
I won't lie, the design of nuKanaya is compelling somehow. Maybe it's because she reminds me of a nun rather than some allah cultist.
But then again, all Kanaya is good for is orientation-play, impregnation, and cuckquean; so variety in design is always welcome.

First, I must be an autist and tout my Andrew Hussie/MSPA/HomeStuck credentials. I promise after this I have info and gifts.
1.) I have been following AH since circa 2006 when VGCats (remember that was a thing???) had Team Special_Olympics as its sidebar recommended comic.
2.) I became a S_O forum member (which eventually became the MSPA forums) from around that time when it was relatively small and AH would interact with literally everyone
3.) Being an early forum member, not only do I have a Problem Sleuth page generated from my post, but I actually have a Jailbreak page as well (from back when MSPA was hosted solely on the forums)
4.) I donated to the Kickstarter. I don't regret it because I thought the merch itself was worth it
Anyways, I've only been reading highlights from this thread and have skipped the last 4 pages to reply to this so feel free to berate me if I'm repeating things.

Chuck Tingle Stuff
I was able to tell after listening to only like thirty seconds of one of the episodes: that is definitely not Andrew for a couple reasons. First, this guy's almost hyper energy is the total opposite of Andrew's deadpan monotone. Second, his voice is too high. Third, (and this is the biggest tell) Andrew has a frontal lisp-- this person doesn't. Fourth, that woman looks way too respectable to be the kind of person Andrew would associate with.
I just listened to the linked podcast (specifically the "Live in LA" one) and the voice very much DOES sound like Hussie's to me. Take a listen to him in this (timestamped) clip from a video series he did with his brother Byron (who is -or at least, was -very funny) and tell me it's not similar and within Hussie's bigger-than-expected range. I guess it could be Byron, too. I never heard about the "Chuck Tingle is AH" thing until today when I stumbled upon this thread and it makes perfect sense to me. I just remember reading BuzzFeed articles about CT, thinking "I guess that's funny but who would pay for them?" and am now wondering if they're any good because, despite the shitshow Hussie has made out of his work, I still greatly enjoy his writing.

Writing Change: from believable online teen AIM logs to fangirl wish-fulfillment meet-ups
I think @Y2K Baby's comment and about Hussie's autistic writing and characterization is very accurate. Add this to the Gankro interview in Pastebin and it's a fair assessment to make that Hussie's writing is at it's best when he wasn't influenced by anyone and was just spitting it out in large quantities. I think the main reason MSPA became so popular was because of how regularly content was uploaded (just like with a lot of YouTube channels) since most other webcomics of the era, like the aforementioned VGCats, would post at most once a week and would often never meet their schedule. But Hussie was such a writing machine that he had multiple pages of text available per day that he had written in advance. Then the pauses came and the writing seemingly tanked.

The main writing problems started when the whole "collaborative" aspect of HS hit its peak (post trolls). People were mad that he stopped taking the forum posting commands, so I guess to make it up to them and also to maybe take some of the demand off of himself, he started reaching out to fans, first to actually talented people in regards to the music (legitimately Tyler Dever's solo piano album Sburb is probably my favorite album of all time) and Flash, then to fangirls with their shitty shipping art that eventually made up the majority of the flashes. Once this floodgate was open, it was downhill from there. He obviously took these fans suggestions more and more seriously.

In my opinion, what made HomeStuck's story and characters so great (and more universally relatable, IMHO) was how they were teens who were isolated from one another and only communicated/had their relationship via the Internet. Prior to Act 5 I believe, the kids had never been in the same place and conscious at the same time. It seemed like the ending was basically going to be them all finally meeting IRL for the first time and it was going to be very satisfying. But post Scratch, it was rare for characters to be alone and most of the dialog shifted from chatlogs to in-person conversations. This made zero sense with the original tone and intention of the story. The kids go from being smart but awkward and isolated teens to hypersocial, hypersexual charismatic fangirl wish-fulfillment characters. Most of the in-person meet-ups post-Scratch were reminiscent of con culture sperging, something that ruined the fandom and I think Hussie used to genuinely hate.

So, why did Hussie's writing change?
One theory is money. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Hussie apparently invented and owned a webcomic page ad system that scaled costs of ads based on site traffic and with HS getting INSANE daily traffic, he probably made shittons of money from the ads on HS alone, let alone the money he got from other sites that used it. Maybe he thought that this ad money would eventually dry up, so he instead made the KickStarter in order to have something more sell-able (for some odd reason, he was very anti-non print merch until after the Kickstarter, which was when What Pumpkin started, I believe). But this doesn't make much sense to me. He had never really been one to be money seeking prior to this and he seemed to have plenty of money even before the ad thing from some prior programming work he had done.

A more reasonable theory is to increase readership. Like many media companies do today, like BuzzFeed, he seemed to think "going woke" was a way to appeal to a wider audience. He started ramping up this wokeness after the myriad pauses since pandering to that rabid, obsessed base seemed to be a better investment than winning back long-time fans who had lost interest once the things they had loved it for started disappearing. But this seems sort of counter-intuitive to Hussie's core of mocking his fans (which he did for the majority of HS's run) and being meta about shit.

I think the real reason he changed was women. Rachel aka SoftOwl, who he dated and was the one who sought revenge in that pastebin dock, was an insane woman on the forums. She basically became the "voice" of Hussie, often announcing things there. She welcomed and cultivated a cult of adoring fans who idolized her, despite her not contributing ANYTHING of value, as far as I could see. When they started dating, I found it incredibly odd since Hussie never once said anything about it one way or the other, but Rachel and her Tumblr minions constantly talked about it. She had him by the balls and that's when marked changes started happening. The other influential woman who I haven't seen discussed yet has been mentioned several times in passing is Cynthia Dominguez aka Cindy Marie aka Betelguese, the "Team" in "Team Special_Olympics". She's Hussie's long time partner who lives in Florida and seems to be the one who ran What Pumpkin when it was mostly merch stuff and I believe was the main updater of the Kickstarter page. Prior to the Kickstarter/downward Spiral, Hussie was living in Massachusetts alongside other webcomic artists like Ryan North. I think he may have moved away from there for either Cindy or Rachel's sake and then his circle of close friends changed from witty, irreverent comic writers to crazy women with no discernible skills (although Cindy is a talented artist in her own right and seems to have at least been competent when WP was just merch, so I hope she wasn't to blame for any of this) and lots of feminist rage. Hussie became figuratively cucked by Rachel due to her influence on his ideas while simultaneously being literally cucked by her, hence the break-up. I wonder what his now wife, sister to the terrible writing dyke, does to influence him?

TL;DR
Hussie's writing was phenomenal when he was unrestricted and not influenced by anyone, but for some reason, despite his wealth and fame, he slowly and gradually gave up creative control (probably due to the women around him) until he was eventually shilling for SJW nonsense and hiring writers who pushed that agenda even further.

Final Thoughts
I don't think it's an understatement to say that MSPA/HomeStuck is one of the most unique, utterly engrossing methods of storytelling ever. Hussie's visual, technical, and writing talent is real and should be recognized. Sadly, though, I don't think we'll ever see anything from him to rival the MSPA heyday. I'd love for him to get back to serious comic writing like he did prior to MSPA since his art is top notch as well, but I think he's too politically brainwashed and jaded from his experiences to ever do that again. Also, I will never touch anything HomeStuck-related unless it's written and created by Hussie himself.

  • PDFs of the three volumes of The Starlight Calliope (later renamed to Whistles) comic that I paid for which is amazing, shows AH's true art skills, and was sadly never finished. I forgot how low res they are.
  • The archive to his S_O comics. It may seem like some of the comics aren't there, but just click on ones in the same series until you get a navigable[ frame rather than the image address itself. UPDATE: I guess I didn't see that this better archive existed that works better, but it looks like there's still some stuff missing./SPOILER]

It’s been a while since I’ve been in middle school but not so long that I don’t remember what most of the boys in middle school were all about - endless dick jokes and shitty doodles of dicks. I can’t stand most of Act 6 but the dick ouija sequence is a startlingly accurate depiction of how 14-year-old boys act.

Maybe they’re the creepy ones if they immediately think it’s sexual.

A few girls at my college openly admitted to pants shitting and pissing. Why is this a thing????????
Don't forget freebleeding. Apparently "holding your bussiness" is considered part of the PATRIARCHY!!1! and thus must be opposed.
Stuff like that explains why there are so few modern matriarchies. If they all result in such idiotic ideas, then no wonder the patriarchy crushed them.

I have a question, and sorry if this sounds stupid because I really don’t know shit about homestuck except for the three acts I read, but uh...

who introduced kanaya to Islam? How does an alien even know about Islam?
Please tell me that's not that. I believe Kanaya is just trying to keep her memories with Rose alive by dressing similiar to her.

Imagine bemoaning that Eridan is still a joke character when most of the cast (kids and trolls) are all joke characters.

I'm guessing it came from how the fandom would portray her as a hijabi in "Humanstuck" art, similar to how Fluttershy gets the hijab treatment. The reasoning behind them getting hijab'd is...both are fairly submissive and quiet? 🤔 However, "Maryam" is of Middle Eastern origins, her ancestor was a Virgin Mary-type figure, and her normal attire could probably pass as modest enough.

(Lmao, the Italian version is fucking Day-Glo orange.)

Here's a blog where nearly half of the Kanayas are covered up. Niqab Kanaya when?
