Right gents, I've actually decided to take the plunge and try my hand at DMing a game. The game in question is a Vampire: The Masquerade game, and it takes place in modern day LA. The game itself is tied to VtM: Bloodlines, a right good game that not only is fun to play but very good at introducing you to the lore.
The general tone and so far, based on the two people I know who are in, is that you guys will be a group of young Anarchs (basically vampires who don't bow down to the major sects and organizations) who are essentially thrown into the powderkeg of LA. The Camarilla is severely weakened after Lacroix' manipulations and desperation to accrue power, the Anarchs are still going strong (although Nines is in torpor), and the Sabbat are still in play under one of the most respected figures in the organization. On top of that, the mysterious Kuei-jin, eastern entities who share many traits with vampires, have settled more of the area. The region is in flux, and many good things can come to a clever crew. It is just as easy for said crew to experience final death however.
VtM tends to be a pretty story intensive game, but when fights go down, they can be quick and brutal affairs and can easily result in death on both sides. I'd at least think of a potential back-up in case something bad happens to be safe. I tend to like things to be semi-serious, and while I do tolerate joke characters, I'm not a big fan of them.
I'm pretty open on clans and bloodlines, and am definitely happy to work with you if you need help on character creation if this is your first rodeo in the system too.
The system I use is the 20th Anniversary edition, so if you have a book of it, great. If not, don't worry, I got you covered. I have the character sheet ready as well, but due to it being from a different version, some quirks are to be expected.
Time wise, the best dates for me are the Weekends and Tuesday. In two weeks, Wednesday and Monday open up as well. Times are pretty flexible, and I can usually wake up and/or do this at any point, although I will note that of the bunch, two of us are in the EST though to give you an idea. Enough interest in this might lead to me doing the goddamn insane thing of making two groups, since I tend to prefer smaller groups of 5-7 players and Vamp games get kind of wacky if the group gets too big.
