Random thought: what if Bob used the time he spent chimping out on Twitter on watching science videos on YouTube? Maybe he would actually learn why wheat fields don't cover the Moon and why we can't digitize human consciousness in 2020. I say this after watching some videos on theoretical Thorium reactors, nuclear fusion, and yes, even space colonization. It doesn't make me a genius, but it's a better use of time than being an unpleasant asshole to strangers on Twitter.

He finds them too boring. To him the true science is cool stuff like lasers and space ships, which we only don't have because people were scared by Hollywood into believing there would be a robot uprising.

Does anyone remember the video in which he said that? I think it was on his own channel before he went back to Escapist and was part of a video where he talked about his opinions on random topics, almost all of them stupid.

EDIT: Found it, his "Unpopular Opinions" video. Starts at 3:23

Wow he's just insufferable.
I don't watch Bob's videos but it's good to remind myself why.
He constantly praises automation for its ability to take jobs away from his hated factory workers, but in this video he forgets all that and reduces the concern to an idiotic "your roomba figuring out how to use a switchblade".
The REAL technological terror, in Bob's beetus-brain, is "asshole hackers convincing your grandpa to vote [Republican] with algorithmically generated bullshit", which is just bizarre, since he's saying "asshole hackers" not only exposed the DNC, but made viral Youtube videos about it too.

Robert comes to the galaxy brained conclusion that IQ isn't real:

Robert in one of his many fantasises about the superior world and the Obama era, takes a not so subtle jab at the people who allegedly bullied him at school.

Sounds like Bobby just took an IQ test and wasn't happy at his results, given he's now changing the goalposts on intelligence so he again isn't as obviously (in his mind) obsolete trash worthy only of starvation by his own retarded and non-thought out system.

For sure. But most of what makes lolcow threads fun, even when the cow in question repeats themselves, is everyone else who posts. I've learned a hell of a lot from people in threads, and it's fascinating the breadth of experience that you get on the farms. Great sense of humor from people too. I'm nowhere close to burnout because the rest of you keep things entertaining, so thanks. Signing up for the farms wasn't the worst thing I did after all.
And I'm amused how many different subjects we can bounce off Bobby: from Astroengineering and Theology to diabetes complications and men fashion.

Learning is a process. Bobby doesn't want processes; he just wants to see results. Why study the nitty-gritty of engineering when you can see how Iron Man fly and nuke bad guys?

I love the awkward pictures they take together. The one in my PFP has become 10x better now that it's like they're sharing a hazmat suit.

Is this a new photo? That weird look he usually has in his pictures with Chris isn't as present here.

Yeah but he's also not looking into the camera. He still has autism eye contact in this one.

Remember when Peter and Bob were friends?

Coffin really is a weasel, now he's pretending to be an expert on Marxism for money, he's throwing him under the bus because the Chapo crowd see Bob as a figure to mock.

Yeah Peter Coffin doesn't believe any of the shit he says. He will say whatever it takes to be 'popular' and fit in.
Actually this gives me a chance to post something I put together a few days ago when I was browsing the Macintosh thread. There's a certain look you can spot in people who don't even believe the words coming out of their own mouth but are trying to convince the listener that they do believe it. They have an incredulous expression while saying things they supposedly actually think or believe, with like a hint of a look in the eyes that indicates they are trying to study the listener to see if they are convinced (even if they aren't speaking face-to-face with a live person). I put together this compilation of a few people who came to mind that I've noticed this look on:

To believe anything Peter Coffin says would require undertanding anything he says. No one ever understood anything Coffin says, least of all himself.

Bobby's relation to Peter Coffin is curiously similar to Coffin's own relation to Breadtube: at first Coffin wanted to suck up to the cool kids, but when they gave him the cold shoulder, he immediately flipped and declared them problematic.

Yes it is. Whenever I look at Bobby's mug I can't help focusing on those rooster eyes. His eyes here are more mellow than I ever saw.

And to keep this somewhat on-topic:

I'd be for it, except from my understanding, thread titles are supposed to lead with the most common name that a cow goes by. It's an SEO thing. Fewer people are gonna search for "Robert Chipman," so the thread would get buried if the title were changed. Best to just stick with tweeting Robert at him, it's a much more direct way of getting under his skin.
Then it should be “Robert “Bob” MovieBob Chipman”

I don't know what's worse, the headshot inserts or the actual content of the segment.

Who... who is he talking about? He thinks people are serious about those comments and this somehow translates into technology being avoided doesn't he. Doesn't he remember say, the European Cyclotron black hole memes/jokes? Does he think those were people legitimately concerned and somehow slowing progress?

A take so spicy, that it was nearly 100 years in the making. People who d

Bob Spends so much time in the woods, you guys. A real survivalist. How he squeezes it in between reviewing movies and staying up literally all night to tweet, I will never know.

Bob's the type of "woodsman" who thinks getting drinking water from a stump is a good idea.

Nuh-uh, movie Robert is NEVER owned, he NEVER loses the internet fights, and now he can cancel peter coffin, who told him to fuck off. It isn't like he is butthurt or anything and has passive agressive tweet all day long about someone who told him to fuck off.

The funny thing is, this whole take about "gamergaters were aimless angry young men taken advantage by the white nazis" was also said by his former boss and reason on why he has a gig at the escapist, Russ Pitts, on that article Zoe Quinn blasted and made Pitts leave the escapist. Pretty sure Robert didn't say anything about that back then....
He did say something. He said a lot of it.

TL;DR
Russ Pitts is a dick who did an unthinkable dickish thing and I'm sorry for being near him and The Escapist and I'm going to therapy. Please pitty me.
My favorite line from it:
The so-called “Gamergate” fiasco – a hate movement born specifically a weaponized stalking campaign against a specific female game developer that soon blossomed into a whole network of internet-based terrorism pretending to operate under concerns about “ethics in games journalism” that came to encompass a large collection of proto-Trump campaign alt-right “New Media” personalities – tore through the mid-2010s gaming scene like a tidal wave of sewage, and The Escapist during that time was uniquely stuck in the nexus of it as it’s founder and (now-ex) co-owner had turned out to harbor some… “unique” political viewpoints that aligned with much of the aforementioned movement; leading to employees of the site who had spoken against “GG” (or were simply on the nebulous “naughty list” of persons GG had designated as targets for one reason or another) either quitting in disgust or being gradually cycled as part of “budgets” or “restructuring” – eventually including me.

He'd immediately declare himself Dictator of the Earth after going out and buying four tons of fertilizer and making what he thinks is a homemade nuke, Timothy Mcveigh style, the likes the world has never seen.
