On a positive note, it will solve San Fran's rampant homeless and street shitting problem. And provide steady jobs for lower skilled uneducated workers.

They camp out in hospitals in flu season? Why? Unless you're in a vulnerable population (elderly, sick, immune compromsed) or have developed a major complication, all you can do for normal flu is stay home in bed, rest, take on liquids and OTC meds to maybe ease symptoms like congestion or lower your temp and just ride it out until you feel better. God knows I've been through it enough times myself to know the drill. There's nothing a doctor can give you that you can't buy over the counter in normal flu years. This is how you spread the illness within a vulnerable population like seriously ill people who are in hospital for other stuff.

Also the whole no primary care system just shows China is still a third world country with the flashy, badly-built facade of a developed nation. Whole place is about to collapse like a pack of cards because despite having developed all sorts of creepy spying systems, cornered the market in cheap and shitty manufacturing and counterfeits and stolen every IP on earth they can't look at successful nations and take the slightest bit of advice about how to construct an infrastructure to run a country for the actual health and benefit of the actual population. Who gives a shit about your high speed trains when you can't breathe the fucking air because of the insane and incessant pollution. Who gives a shit how fast you can put up a new building when it'll fall apart in ruins in three years? Who cares about your space ambitions when you're still eating stupid shit like bats and can;t work out how handwashing saves lives? Who gives a fuck your police come equipped with spooky face recognition spy glasses when your elderly are forced into a system designed to basically spread diseases among them because you haven't implimented the most basic form of effective healthcare which is triaging people to the correct services instead of letting them barrage hospitals with the common cold?

This isn't exactly the flu. It's a deep respiratory infection. There are some things that may be needed to help clear your breathing. Albuterol breathing treatments. Proventil inhalers and a round of Steroids. Diuretics to help get fluid out of your lungs etc. You may not need hospitalization, but you probably will need a doctors care and some prescription meds and treatments.

I don't know if any of this is comforting information but apparently China has ALWAYS had a shitty healthcare system from the very beginning and that might be the reason why this is blowing up so bad and why so many people are dropping like flies. I'm putting my faith to Uncle Sam's infinitely superior healthcare system to save my ass if this gets bad (which hopefully it won't). Plus if people are supposedly being cured and discharged from shithole hospitals in bumfuck China--not a lot but they're still claiming it--I think there's a good chance the same will happen but to greater effect in the West.

I see a triage system happening any time in China. No way in hell will they ever be able to cope otherwise. Still waiting to see how much, if any of the PLA's medical corps helps.

Things are much different here. Pretty good primary system, lots of doc-in-a-box or NP-in-a-boxes. ERs will fill fast but they'll triage right off, just like they do for other events. Supplies should be no real problem. Just hope it doesn't happen here on a large scale.

Yes, I know THIS virus is different. I was referring to the fact their lack of a civilised-tier healthcare infrastructure means in normal years with normal flu people camp out in corridors spreading the illness which they probably should have stayed home for and make everything worse than it needs to be. I can imagine the absolute worst place to be right now in China is an actual hospital given the hordes of people spreading everything within them - probably there are people there pancking about a common cold who will now actually pick up this new virus. Actual immune compromise patients are super-fucked with everyone and their granny crashing in screaming for doctors over the smallest symptom.

Continued on what I was saying earlier about Chinese woo shit (TCM stands for "traditional Chinese medicine"), found another article that confirms it. They're basically throwing rocks at a fire trying to put it out. I can 100% guarantee you that they're not going to use Chinese medicine to help patients in Europe or the West.

Edit: I also love how they mention the patients from Beijing being cured with a combo of tcm AND western medicine, never thinking that maybe it was the latter that was responsible.

Between the homeless, shit in the streets, and AIDS, if anywhere is going to have a China level outbreak, it's San Fran.
Shit's going to hit the fan in about a week when people infected that haven't been anywhere near China start to show symptoms of Sweet and Sour Sicken.

Seriously tho, generations of chinese living in these horrible sanitary / unhealthy condition might have lowered their immune system so badly, that it could explain why there's probably more of them succumbing to it. ( living in permanent smogs, eating raw meat and disease filled animals, poor medical and personnal hygiene )

Hopefully in the west we might be more resilient / healthy than the average chinaman whose immune system is constantly under attack and weakened... Well, that's wishful thinking. *Still ordered a few respiratory masks and protective googles from amazon for public space use*

Yeah and their inability to do anything about any problem except write pieces about it being fine. Open air drug market next to some of the most expensive real estate for over 40 years “nothing we can do” seriously?

Plus huge Chinese population they’re gonna be fucked. Idk why we still have flights coming from China at all.

Apparently that was a mistranslation last night. They first mistranslated twenty, then went back and said two thousand, so it sounded like twenty two thousand. Personally I still believe it was 20k +
