Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

IMO. If this was something that escaped from one of their own labs how do you mess up so badly as to make your own people and the preferred gender of those people be the hardest hit. It it was spontaneous from their gross habits IDK but whatever great cosmic being you believe in woke up and decided fuck you in particular today China.

Things like Coronavirus's tend to be adapted to best exploit the local populations in the area that they arise. It's not that it was engineered to attack Asian people, It's that it is a Coronavirus originating from Central China. Hence the best replicating specimens of it are the ones that best exploit the local host population. Everyone always thinks it works like the Native American's having no natural immunities to smallpox. But it is more complex than that. The population also needs to have abundant receptors for what the virus targets. A virus can just as easily stop dead when it hits a new population because it has not yet adapted to exploit that population.

I remain doubtful that this was engineered as a bioweapon. More likely it was a lab grown, for lack of a better term, adversary. An example of an expected and fast spreading virus that the scientists were using as the means to test things like potential cures and vaccines against in controlled lab conditions. In case you haven't figured it out yet Scientists are often idiots, and will cook this sort of thing up so they can find a cure for it for when it naturally occurs, never grasping the danger of cooking it up in the first place.

Confirmed case in Wisconsin

The patient is an adult with a history of travel to Beijing, China prior to becoming ill and was exposed to known cases while in China. The individual is isolated at home, and is doing well. Out of respect for the privacy of the patient and their household, this is the only information that is available.

This person was tested in Madison, so they're almost certainly affiliated with UW-Madison (and their isolation is apparently self-imposed).

For Chinese, acting stupid is actually survival trait, I am 100% serious and not even joking this time - anyone too smart or educated got killed by Mao, stupid peasants and few smart ones who twigged to the fact and knew how to put on an act survived. This has changed, but getting rid of decades of programming and generational trauma takes time.
Black slaves did the same shit. Play servile and dumb because there's literally nothing to gain from intelligence beyond the suspicion of the master. Authoritarian dictatorships are just plantations that span a whole country so you're bound to see the same behavior.

I always thought IQ tests were kind of bullshit on this alone. Asians have the highest IQ in the world but independent thinking doesn't seem to be a factor in regards to high intelligence in those tests. I know IQ tests are for the most part accurate (The Bell Curve makes a valid point) but these people literally use shit water to make oil. I'm sure there are certain Hispanic and African countries who aren't as stupid as this (though I could be wrong). You'd think basic sanitary knowledge would be an important factor in finding out if someone is stupid or not. Peasants at least in the middle ages had the excuse that they didn't even know what germs were. But how can you be aware of how badly germs and pollution are and STILL cook your street food with a thousand wasps buzzing around and not care???

Apparently there are also restaurants in China where there are pigs underneath the building and they make holes in the floor for customers to poop in and the pigs eat the poop. Then they kill the pigs to serve to the customer. What the flying fuck.

I'm not one for conspiracies and I don't see if they broke down the deaths by sex. If I'm reading right 41 People in the study, 30 Men - 11 Women. Of the 30 Men, 11 in ICU and of the 11 Woman, 2 in ICU. Of those who ended up in ICU, 5 Died. Which given it was more men who ended up in ICU you could make a safe assumption most of those who died were probably male? It really seems wild that you'd have a virus that from what we currently know seems to affect people of Asian backgrounds harder and from the results from this particular piece, more common in males.

In a country that is Asian and has a cultural bias against women, with a preference for male children.

Chinese have mentioned people losing mothers, aunts, etc. There is no guarantee they were even added to statistics as some of the women in these stories died at home. I would remember that China has a preference for males (and certain classes of people) before using any of the stats for hospital admittance and testing from that country. I think the cruise ship is going to give us vastly more accurate information.

BREAKING NEWS

The smartest man in China suicided himself today by deadly coronavirus, which the CCP has just found out CAN be possible, reports Wuhan Times. "He was found in the streets of Wuhan with his head face down in bat soup," President Xi Jumping has stated. "The communist party of China will dearly miss him. Even during the times he acted all high and mighty by not eating Chinese gutter oil."

Apparently there are also restaurants in China where there are pigs underneath the building and they make holes in the floor for customers to poop in and the pigs eat the poop. Then they kill the pigs to serve to the customer. What the flying fuck.

The 'hole in the floor toilet over the pig pen' situation is an ancient Chinese set-up but is also still seen all over the ass-backwards parts of Asia such as Tibet and India, and used to be a thing in Japan pre-WW2.

The Vietnamese had or have (not sure) a version of it featuring a fucking fish pond. So you could eat a fish fed on human faeces that had swum in water spiced with human urine. You sometimes wonder how Asia got to be as populous as it is.

Ah, but you see, the people selling shit-oil are not the ones eating it.

The Chinese are intelligent but also cruel and individualistic (or at least family-centric). Their culture is "fuck you I've got mine" personified, and they will gladly cheat, lie, and steal from anyone if it means getting a leg up over their peers.

Scientists here in the west are quite understanding of the danger, and abaolutely fucking autistic about the security protocols. Chinese scientists though? Well. The results speak for themselves. Here's two anecdotes to illustrate the sheer unbridalled autism of lab conditions:

-here's one I witnessed but didn't participate: a scientist wearing 3 layers of gloves. You might say: 3 layers? Why? Well: first layer was the normal lab gloves. Nothing too weird there, you're working with samples, even if they're noninfectious you could pollute the sample and that's not ok, so you wear them. Right. Well before getting the 2nd layer we get the first disinfectant, you don't wanna possibly pollute the lab equipment, so even though you're wearing gloves, just in case, clean them, even if they're new. Second layer is part of the equipment, labs for contagious shit often feature a screen to keep the shit behind. This screen sometimes have thick rubber gloves attached to it so you don't have to put your arms around it. This is specially true for any lab using radioactive markers. Well, second layer of disinfectant: those gloves are static, non-disposable, so before ysing them slather that shit in disinfectant, and then 3rd layer. Said disinfectant can fuck up the sample, so cover the thick rubber gloves with disposable gloves to protect it. Hence, the triple layered autistic glove monster from hell. Now you may think: what kinda shit they were working on to have this kinda autism at full display? Ecoli. It was god damned ecoli. Radioactive markers means the screen has to be used, even if the risk of infection is practically 0.

-and one I actually participated in: here's the first time I realized the sheer level of autism of biolabs during lab practices: the protocol which we were under strict supervision to ensure we followed call for us to put the sealed container with the sample inside the presurized bell (while wearing gloves already of course), then use disinfectant on the gloves before entering the bell with our hands, use a disposable pipette contained in an individual package which is only ever opened within the bell and dispose of both the package and the pipette in a container inside the bell after use. All this just to add an enzime to the sample which is resealed within the bell before being taken to the incubator, then use disinfectant again on the gloves. Seems like a really strict protocol for really dangerous stuff. Huh? Well that was human skin tissue. That... that was just skin. The reason for this protocol is not to protect us, but the sample, and avoid pollution. THIS IS THE LEVEL OF AUTISM PRESENT IN WESTERN LABS. This is the BASE level of autism for PERFECTLY SAFE SAMPLES. Just saying, this shit wouldn't have escaped over here! China though? Well you already heard that guy that worked there rile against the conditions, AND WITH GOOD REASON!

So you have a ignorant country run by a total asshole who is trying to save face by showing the world that In they are "launching a people's war against the Corona Virus" And it is being lead by their glorious leader... Xi jingping.

And if you have noticed he is NOT been seen for a while...

I wonder if he has the sniffles... It is flu season you know.
Super late on this, but he's doing what every dictator does when the plague shows up; keep as low a profile as possible, horde the best medical supplies and doctors, and when this all blows over emerge to tell the decimated masses that through his strength alone he was able to beat the disease.

Pooh Bear knows that shit like this can fuck him hard, that dictators have fallen due to these events or the events it sets into motion.

I’ve heard, through grapevines, the mortality rate is around 15%. Plum Island Research Facility had planned to have been sold last year, but in December, of last year, it was delayed by a year. Take all with a grain of salt. Be safe, friends.

Anthrax Island!

Which actually reminds me. A similar Level 3 lab in the UK, The Institute for Animal Health/Merial Animal Health Lt, at Pirbright in Surrey were responsible an outbreaks of Foot and Mouth Disease in 2007. There was a countrywide outbreak of the disease in 2001 that half-killed the agricultural and tourism sectors, but that was down to a farmer feeding his pigs untreated swill that included infected meat illegally imported from the continent. The 2007 outbreak was different.

The virus was one used in vaccine production that escaped the facilities in 2007 through broken effluent pipes that led to flooding up into the ground around them instead of the waste being treated properly with caustic substances. All it takes is a lack of maintainance at any single stage of disposal and your biosafety is shot to hell. Would not suprise me at all if this was the case in China knowing how shite their building/maintainance is in general. we joke about someone taking a pig or bat home to chow on, but it could be simply there is/was a leaky valve or pipe or malfunctioning waste disposal system somewhere in the Level 4 lab in Wu Han too.

wiki said:
On 4 August the virus was identified as the FMDV BFS 1860 O1 1967 (Foot-and-Mouth Disease Virus, British Field Strain 1860, serotype O, subtype 1, isolated in 1967; also referred to as strain BFS 1860/UK/67[11] ), a virus isolated in the 1967 outbreak and until the 2007 outbreak, not in circulation in animals.[12] It was the same strain as used at the nearby Pirbright laboratory site, which houses separate units of the Institute for Animal Health and Merial Animal Health Ltd at Pirbright, 2 1⁄2 miles (4.0 km) away, which was identified as a possible source of infection, as it is one of only four European laboratories authorised to handle that strain of the virus to produce vaccines, the next nearest being in Belgium.[13][14][15] As a result, the isolation zone was extended.[16]

The source of the strain released and contained in Surrey in 2007 was the advanced effluent pipes from either the Institute for Animal Health or the similar vaccine researching and producing Merial Animal Health laboratory near to Pirbright village in the county – the pipes were too old and/or insufficiently inspected given their importance. An inspection of the effluent pipes and manholes carried out for the HSE investigators showed deficiencies and the independent investigation of Professor Brian Spratt concluded that it was very likely that they occasionally leaked still-infectious effluent at the time of the outbreak. Both laboratories, either of which may have been the cause, upgraded and repaired their effluent treatment systems to continue operation.
