Why on earth would you tone down a succubus?
Because she's a 'bad role model' and people shouldn't enjoy her for who she is because she's too attractive, too violent, and perhaps even, too much of a bitch.I'm not the biggest Guilty Gear fan, but is not the whole point of I-no that she is a evil hedonist slut that perpetually talks in double entendre? Most characters find her destestable in any case so is not exactly a role model, hell, I heard she was designed after a female japanese rock singer so I will guess the whole purpose is be the "purest"rock 'n roll inspired character. Rock in the sense of not giving a shit and have fun.
Why then change her design?

When I read the first post, I immediately thought of that DC redesign. It's so bland and unimaginative. I actually like seeing how decent artists and writers reimagine characters. Take Bruce Timm's and Paul Dini's Batman animated series. Their version of characters and their original character Harley Quinn were adapted into the comic books.
The SJW designs are just what if they were ugly and showed no part of their body without any regards to the character itself. You can do that and make it work, but it doesn't work if that's your only motivation.
Because tits are a "no no" to these people. Why on earth would you tone down a succubus?
I wonder when Soc-Jus Artists will realize that by dressing up their characters they come off more as puritans rather than radical visionaries.
I'm torn. On the one hand, I like the idea of more practical costumes; I eyeroll hard when I see action-movie heroines doing all this crazy shit in spike heels and corsets, and if I'm going to cosplay a character, it's nice to have a costume that will actually stay on without massive amounts of double-sided tape and prayer. On the other hand, things like fighting games are very, very over-the-top and stylized, and expecting realism from them is a bit silly. "Well, this character throws magic fireballs and can strangle someone with their own spine, but those boots are going TOO DAMN FAR."
Ironically, the Amanda Waller redesign was in the opposite direction by making her younger, prettier and a lot thinner. The original was fat, middle-aged and unattractive, but still a great character overall. The New 52 stuff is mostly bad in both fronts, thought. Were moments where they tried to appease the vocal SJW crowd (Wonder Woman discussed to hell redesign) and then redesigns that nobody asked like Hallie Berry's Amanda Waller (that is probably the mirror example of the LL stuff I commented, just male 90's trained comic book artist). I blame Dan DiDio
Because her old design would be seen as sexist to SJW'sI'm not the biggest Guilty Gear fan, but is not the whole point of I-no that she is a evil hedonist slut that perpetually talks in double entendre? I hate when people try to redesign characters because they think sexuality is such a horrible thing. Especially if the original character design is supposed to reflect on who said character is supposed to be, like Morrigan for example.
That can be a good way of being equal, having men also be scantily clad, just like in this video:I'd rather go the opposite direction, personally.
Equal number of scantily clad women and men.
We like to be titillated too, dammit.
Why did they turn Felicia into a nerd? She canonically becomes a nun and takes care of orphans. IIRC in her Darkstalkers 3 ending she's seen wearing a habit and playing with kids. Shouldn't that please SJWs?I wasn't sure where to put this, but I've noticed a trend that I like to call Tumblr/SJW Girls.
Tumblr Girls
Traits: The women must usually be of average appearance or lower. Though there is more bodily variety, femininity (unless its Sailor Moon) is usually downplayed. Weird noses and mouths.
Clothes: Armor should not show any hints that they have boobs. Stuff that shows cleavage, femininity (to a lesser extent) or sexuality are no-nos.
Exceptions: Sailor Moon (and the Scouts) are almost always the exception. Even if a cleavage-exposing, skimpier outfit (like Power Girl's boob-window) is in character, it doesn't matter and they'll link to some comic by Aaron Diaz.
The Good: Unlike Escher Girls (the other extreme), who all look like clones, the characters have more variety so I'll give them that.
The reason I bring this all up is for a way to find to see humor, be annoyed and talk about bad designs and ideals behind the Tumblr Girls designs. Here's an example.
