Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

There is a security guard I have to pass often who drives me crazy telling people that the coronavirus originated and was created in the USA and is being used for population control. Even the half-wits around her are like, hmmm I'm pretty sure it originated in China. I try to remind myself it's not worth the energy engaging with her.

She also thinks the underground structures under the Denver International Airport are concentration camps. :stress:
She's half right. The Chinese probably released it on their own people for depopulation, and the bunkers under the Denver Airport are for the elites to be safe.

Indian here.
I work as a doctor(specifically a radiologist) and I heard some unsubstantiated rumors that we(India) might send some doctors and medical aid to Japan idk if thats true
I’m really pleased to hear that there aren’t loads of recorded cases there. Do you feel confident that the government is telling the truth on this, from your experience within the Indian health services? I have to say, if that’s true and there are only sporadic cases plus the authorities on top of it that’s quite reassuring.
Hope you guys stay as clear as possible - this thing getting a foothold in India or anywhere in Africa would be nightmarish.

If the CCP is that desperate to shut down their own economy, you know things must be orders of magnitude worse than they're willing to admit.

We'd better brace for riots then. Americans will get violent when the twin realities of having to make do with unfashionable, last season technology and lack of wooden chopsticks at the local teriyaki joint really sink in. Run on Dollar Stores when?

>lose access to child slaves and unpaid prison labour for not even a week

>entire companies stock immediately begins to rapidly freefall

The absolute state of technological consumerism.

I'm not sure of the cause in that case but in that particular part of Africa they had very Victorian funeral rights. It's the families duty to prepare the body. The childs body was CARRIED to multiply villages so that various family members could say goodbye.
Even worse, the burial practices in some parts where Ebola was seen involve invasive traditions which directly spread the Virus. The Kissi believe that a pregnant woman buried with the foetus will be disruptive and so the foetus is removed and buried separately. Other traditions include washing, kissing the dead and cleaning the body (inside and out.)
If you die of Ebola, the most infectious time is just after death. Also the virus just liquifies various organs. It’s a messy way to go. 60% of infections in guinea were thought to be down to the handling of bodies. http://archive.is/wip/tFAO7
The WHO (which actually did a decent job with Ebola) managed to train people to collect and bury the dead with dignity. That was a key thing that broke transmission chains.
Coronavirus isn’t going to be spread quite like that - once you’re dead you’re not actively going to be leaking, for example, but body disposal is still something that needs to be done quickly and to strict SOPs. Isolation is key to breaking transmission chains here and the CCP are doing the exact opposite by arresting people, and by crowding people together in unsuitable accommodation. They are creating conditions not just for spread but for spread of a more virulent form.

What can possibly go wrong?

Truthfully? It's likely nobody is cleaning and disinfecting the robots. If Coronavirus does have a 3 day persistance on hard surfaces, well they just become automated disease delivery systems in a hospital. Much more effecient than letting the human staff spread it around.

This can be a common problem with durable portable medical equipment.

But if everybody dies off who’s gonna deliver the Hot Pockets and Mountain Dew outside our doors? Amazon hasn’t finished developing the delivery robots yet damit!

Y'know, I've been thinking alot about what kind of impact this sudden loss of labor force will have on Amazon, Apple, etc. They might actually have to bring some of that manufacturing back to the US now.

Why in the actual fuck would we be sending people who are confirmed infectious carriers home to pinky swear they won't come into contact with anyone else?

It's actually much safer than leaving them in the hospital in constant contact with hundreds. If they do not need advanced and agressive care the safest place for all involved is confined in their own home. Most people arent idiots and people do at home quarantine every day for a variety of reasons.

And most importanly this is how you break the cycle and limit the spread. After the initial hub of the infection, the health care centers become the new hubs. Most of the disease spread in Wuhan has probably occured at or within one hop of the health care providers. This isn't happening as much elsewhere (yet) as worldwide healthcare staff were alerted and became more viglant before it took root in the healthcare system. But at this time the hospitals or doctors offices are probably the best place to catch it.

Someone may have already posted this but /pol/ had someone who probably wasn't a larper last night claiming deaths were massively higher than reported.

If that's the case the user who said they'd eventually reach a point where it was easier to just kill them then even attempt to treat them was right.

claiming deaths were massively higher than reported.
Don't doubt it. Every state, no matter their political leaning, will try to make fuck-ups like this look better than they are.
It just so happens to be authoritarian states are more inclined to hide or muddle reliable and truthful information.
Accurate numbers will never be available unless Chinese defectors release them to western intelligence or the media.
As time goes on, a more accurate picture of real numbers and where the virus originated from may come to light, but it will never be with 100% certainty.

The great thing about china dying is people are turning to India for supplies like ceramic and textile. Our economy(India) was doing bad before this happened lmao
Indian superpower 2021?

So the 3rd UK case is a British national who returned from a business conference in Singapore where the disease did the rounds. He was apparently in contact with a bunch of people in France before coming back to Britain and they have now all come down with the disease themselves. Brilliant.

Globalism is super good and definitely helps the West more than it hurts!

Indian superpower 2021?
They planned this all along. Not only they have superhuman immune system, their economy is now flourishing.

"Superpower 2020" actually meant "WE will be the designated superpower, starting from 2020"!
