Games you gave up on.

A long time ago I tried Dark Souls, and quit after I died to the Bell Gargoyle for the 15th time in a row. Atleast I can claim I gave it a fair shot.

Fate/Extra. The battle system is a pain in the ass and in the grand scheme of things I don't even care that much about the moon cell part of the lore anyway.

thats a pity. loved extras story, setting, characters and visuals. the gameplay can be a big turn off but it was fun mini-maxing in that game.

To be honest, I got into the Type-moon multiverse with Tsukihime and then Fate with the original VN so the moon computer sakura clone shit or the blockbuster movie world ending meganuke shit from FGO never really resonated with me. The dark and brooding urban fantasy stuff is what I was really interested in.

I've dropped animal crossing more than i could count. Played with various GFs who were into it and i tap out so god damn fast. I get it's supposed to be a comfy game but fuck it's boring and annoying hearing the characters.

Quit Ninja Gaiden for hex box because it's hard as shit.

Normally i have a high tolerance for repetitive stuff (Disgaea/GBF fag) but some games just ain't worth a damn. I drop and get back to Demon Gaze every year. Farming for the right weapons for the last boss is stupid and takes forever and I'm tired of fighting the same enemy.
I drop Final Fantasies 12-13.2 because they just feel repetitive in a non rewarding way.

Conception II is a boring disgusting looking jrpg. Atlus and Chunsoft should be ashamed of themselves.

I quit demons souls out of pure frustration with the camera.

Quit F-Zero for gamecube on the tutorial stage because it asked for an unreasonble time to complete the track.

There was this vietnam war game i used to play on PC as a kid but i stopped trying when one stage was all foggy and i kept getting sniped.

I'm pretty close to giving up on Escape from Tarkov, because since they did their Twitch partnership thing, the playerbase has been exploding so hard they literally cannot keep up with the demand placed on the servers. Every fucking day there's a new problem. Good luck trying to play on the weekends with your friends - constant issues, connection drops, loss of time and in-game resources, it's fuckin' frustrating as shit.

I'm near end-game in terms of quests and leveling, so honestly there's not much content for me to see at this point aside from running around and killing other players and shit. Which is fun but I'm a little tired of it at this point. Might be time to put the game down until the next wipe and major patch comes around.

dead island: a lot of sprinting and not much stuff that's interesting to me. dying light was way better

Fuck NES Monopoly's computers. It's a good version as far as vidya monopoly goes, but the computers in that are assholes to the nth degree.
unrelated note, snes monopoly still scares the piss out of me to this day

Dungeon Siege 3. Bad games at least leave an impression, but this...christ, the only thing I can remember is that the gypsy character had big tits that bounced whenever she used an attack.

Nothing compelling about its story, its gameplay. Nada.

Pokemon Clover. A 4chan romhack of FireRed with all new pokemon, lots of improvements, extra challenge, and of course tons of edgy humor and references. Basically a completely new game made by people who really are pokemon fans and know what players like.

Was fantastic up until the town possessed by the spooky scary skeletons. You have to reach the top floor of "burial tower" which has been taken over by skeletons and is also haunted by ghosts which you have to run from because they can't be caught, fought, or identified.

Each floor is a maze of tombstones with skeletons turning around randomly and some walking back and forth. The goal is to get past them without being seen, or they'll say "BOO!" and send you down a floor.

Sounds fun, until you actually play it and realize there's a very good reason pokemon games don't use stealth mechanics. It's basically impossible. The game just isn't made for it. Each floor gets more difficult and it seems based entirely on luck. The hit boxes around the walking skeletons are weird and sometimes stop you from moving so you get caught. Like your character just gets hung up mid-step.

I tried for hours and couldn't beat the last floor. Running or walking, it made no difference. Youtube videos didn't help. Getting dragged into ghost battles every few seconds, then getting caught by cheating-ass skellies and repeatedly boo'd back down a floor, while "spooky scary skeletons" played on repeat the whole time.

Fuck that.

Duke Nukem Forever.

I did alright up until the Octoking battle. I thought the regenerating health and the unlimited ammo setup sucked hard in this game, and unfortunately the nerf for these to prevent Duke from being overpowered was to take away armor and make the Duke's health as fragile as wet tissue paper. I like to snipe and take cover until I know enough of the game to eventually start tanking the hits, but this was frustrating. The little platform and control cabin that one got to stand inside to regen enough ego would get destroyed quickly, I couldn't stay still long enough to use the rockets (which were the only thing that would kill it) and when I did use rockets I couldn't do it from a place that would prevent it from flinging them back at me.

I tried a bunch of times to fight it, a few times I even managed to get it's health bar down to a quarter, but after watching some spoilers and seeing that the rest of the game was as linear and boring and as unfunny as the first half, with a sucky final boss and stupid ending, I was like 'Nahhh, this isn't worth it to even finish.'

I know there was the DLC for it that has a better final baddie, but Dylan is just too annoying to make buying it even worth it.

Too many to count.
FFX and FFXII because they were boring.

I've semi-given up on Atelier Ryza because there doesn't seem to be much plot, it's like a slice of life JRPG without any real stakes or anything there to motivate me to push on (but I'm probably gonna pick it back up at some point cus I didn't totally hate it, and tbf I did reach a point in the story after 40 or so hours where the story took an interesting turn).

I've also semi-given up on The Witcher 3 because it's dragging like hell. For a game that's supposed to be one of the greatest of all time, it takes fucking forever to get to the point. Unless the point is to send you on wild goose chases whilst doing errands for people you don't fucking care about, in which case ten outta fucking ten. The RPG elements of The Witcher 3 are also kind of bizarre, and feel really weird in action, like the combat system, the healing system, and the fact that you can't find a decent set of clothing for Geralt that won't make him look like an actual clown.

Dragon Quest XII S, right before the final final boss, because the "true" story ending was so fucking awful.

Xenoblade 2 because it's boring, the mob spawns were designed by an austist, the battle system is fucking atrocious, the dub is awful, the character designs are terrible, and it's overall probably the worst JRPG and general RPG I've ever played,

Red Dead 2 because it's less interesting semi-realistic wild west setting and more horseback riding hold-X simulator,

Rise of the Tomb Raider, which is kind of tragic considering I really enjoyed the first one, but this one isn't even remotely interesting, and the fact that they're emphasizing really hard on the open world in this game (versus the pathway-type open world the first one had that complemented its story really well) really didn't do it for me.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm, I hated the first one's ending but I got this one on a really good sale. It's too fucking boring.

Borderlands 2, because for me, it took way too fucking long to get through, and the characters are absolutely insufferable.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag, while I did somewhat enjoy the pirate ship fights, I enjoyed even more the traditional AC playstyle, so I neglected the Jackdaw a lot. There was one mission toward the end that you literally could not beat unless you upgraded the Jackdaw a LOT, and money was near impossible to come by unless you were willing to take a day or two to no-life the game. Fuck that.

Kingdom Hearts, the combat system was atrocious and I keep hearing about how the story makes zero sense, so I'm not sure why I'd want to play a game when I'm not going to be able to understand the story or enjoy the flow of combat.

And finally, last one of the top of my head is Days Gone, because I couldn't enjoy the game while I was worrying about the extremely fragile motorcycle all the fucking time, and the HOARDS of zombies ALWAYS show up at the worst moment and take you VERY off track, ESPECIALLY when you're trying to service your motorcycle. Days Gone took a really neat idea of an open world TLoU zombies game and fucked it into the ground.
I love the witcher 3 but I'll admit some of the school of the cat armory made him look like a failed gimp in a BDSM store.

Fate/Extra. The battle system is a pain in the ass and in the grand scheme of things I don't even care that much about the moon cell part of the lore anyway.
I don't see how anyone can like the Moon Cell shit. It's like a more confusing version of the Kingdom Hearts plot. Watching the anime just makes it MORE confusion.

Vampyr: boring
Murdered: Soul Suspect: I can still hear the screeching of those Harry Potter Death Eater knock-offs
blinx the time sweeper: was just wonky
Ever Sims game ever
Agreed, I might try Murdered:Soul Suspect one more time before giving up.

I gave up on Final Fantasy during X. I played/enjoyed X-2 but I had a distinct "this shit ain't for me anymore" moment. I got trolled into playing XII and by extension tactics advance 2 but that was the last time.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution. on one of the last boss fights (such a nonsensical and immersion-breaking mechanic for a DX game, obviously the result of some non-gamer suit deciding WE NEED BOSS FIGHTS). I don't remember the details very well, but I needed some special weapon to kill this boss and there was essentially no other way to kill it. Trouble was I left the weapon a few levels back and I didn't want to backtrack just to get it.

PUBG, because CHINA NUMBAH WAN.

I tried Pokemon yellow during an eshop binge and I just noped out after two weeks. The grinding and backtracking annoyed me.
The only one I ever really liked was Rumble blast which wasn't really an rpg.

F-Zero GX's grand prix is really well balanced and challenging. GX's story mode is just bullshit and feels like no one QA'd it. The final story mission is just beating a staff lap time, which feels really easy after dodging blast doors in an exploding building.
