She told me as much, it was an issue early on in their marriage. I don't know if it's a current issue because I no longer associate with her, but I really doubt either of them would change their ways.

I know a man who grew up mostly in an orphanage where it they occasionally had a foster home to go to, it was more like having free child labor to help in the house and on farms. He grew up to be a professional , got and stayed married, 3 normal kids and never once used being an orphan as an excuse.

It definitely sounds like something Ali would do. And I’d bet good money he does not treat Miah nearly as well, in general, as he does Omar and Esraa. The way he barks orders at Miah to fetch food, wipes, etc. for the younger kids is exactly how weak men communicate with children.

As far as I know, she is not adopted. She is Barbara's biological child and Barbara never gave up parental rights.
Amy had a crappy childhood and comes from trash. But everything Amy says is carefully framed to portray her as either the victim or the hero.
Bad childhoods don't have deterministic outcomes, and abuse does not beget abusers necessarily. Amy by nature is angry, mean, stupid, petty, and intemperate; and it's impossible to say if she would be different as an adult had her childhood been better. Hopefully her children grow up and hate her so fucking much, they vow to never be like her and succeed.

@Demosthenes 2020 told us a few posts back that Amy had a problem with Ali beating Jeremiah, so she has some rudimentary understanding that hitting children = bad. Or maybe she just had an issue with someone she just met hitting not-even-his-kid as soon as he made it over to the US.
