So let me get this straight. This guy thinks, from reviews that I've seen, that funny is stupid and boring is good, if that makes sense. If that's the case, then he's the m.night of a pipe dream.
Pretty much. More specifically, he hates anything that he sees as mean spirited and he doesn't seem to like much conflict either.

Mr. Enter doesn't understand that conflict is a necessary part of almost any work of fiction. In fact, Enter doesn't really care about making a creative and funny cartoon at all. I think he just wants a platform to teach kids obvious lessons with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer. He seems to think that all cartoons should exist to teach morals. I know he refuses to watch anything from before the 90's, but I think he'd be a lot happier watching cartoons from the 80's, where every episode was a "Very Special Episode" and characters lectured the audience directly at the end. Subtlety is not Enter's strong suit.

One guy left this comment on another's review of Growing Around:

"I guess the idea he has is something that appeals to smarter kids instead of being pandering bullshit like most of what's on Nickolodeon, and trying to reach an untapped audience rather than caring about profit. Hell Watamote was not popular in Japan and the manga was only successful enough to continue because 4chan literally just bought the manga en masse. Granted, Growing Around is no Watamote, at least from what i have seen, but i consider it far more mature than something like Breadwinners, and Mr.Enter has always been a person who never believed in talking down to kids and insulting their intelligence. So to be fair, i can see where he is going and I support him on the idea that caring about profit only is probably the biggest threat to creativity there is and it is why Hollywood is obsessed with sequels and reboots, modern gaming is obsessed with FPS games and interactive movies that try very hard to be like Hollywood, why music is made up of the same substance less auto tuned Bullcrap, and stuff that tons of other industries are suffering from. So yeah it probably isn't marketable, which is part of why i support it (even though i only read the pilot script and wasn't even all that impressed by it although i kinda liked it somewhat)."

Make of that as you will. I don't think it's "much more mature than Breadwinners", they're both tasteless really.

I know he refuses to review anything that came out before he was born. Does that mean he refuses to watch them as well? Because if that's true, he's missing out on a lot of great movies/shows/shorts. That's a real shame for someone who claims to love animation and wants to get into the industry.

It seems to me that he's watched stuff from before he was born, especially things like Tom and Jerry but he refuses to actually do reviews on the old stuff normally and had some explanation for it on one of his DA posts. He has also expressed interest in making a review on captain planet, and since he was born in 1992 and that show came out in 1990, that makes it 2 years older than he is. That's probably one of the exceptions.

What kind of flimsy-ass defense is this, TBH? If only whomever wrote this knew the work that goes into these things in general...

In most cartoons, little boys are played by women, but they're insisting that Timmy be played by a man.
I can agree with as to why this is. Children tend to have higher pitched voices than adults, and usually the best slot for these roles in voice acting are females since their voices can easily work at these type of levels. A male attempting to voice a younger male character tends not to work as much unless you've got the perfect voice actor in mind for the job. If you don't, well... let's just say their voices sound too much like they're older than they really are.

Notice how that guy even said he wasn't impressed with the pilot script but he liked it somewhat. I think that's an admission that even he knows Growing Around is garbage but he's such a big fanboy of Mr. Enter that he doesn't wanna admit that his savior can do wrong.

Picked that one up pretty fast. Good - if only Entard's fans had that kind of clarity and common sense... Nah - then they wouldn't be fun to laugh at - as much as I'm growing to find this more sad and pathetic than funny each day.

Make it happen - but only if you want...
Alright, just did it.

NOTE: The bold is my text.

I guess the idea he has is something that appeals to smarter kids instead of being pandering bullshit like most of what's on Nickolodeon

How exactly does this appeal to "smarter" kids? I mean, it's not THAT different from pandering bullshit- no/minimal character personalities, generic plots everywhere, and hell, the concept is really undeveloped. There are many plotholes, and the way Enter and the gang is taking it, it won't be that different from Breadwinners in terms of quality.

and trying to reach an untapped audience rather than caring about profit.

"Untapped Audience"? Alright, let me laugh for about ten minutes. Alright, they aren't trying to reach an "untapped audience" because to put it straight, there ISN'T ONE. Since you guys are wanting to air it on Cartoon Network, unless it's a preschool show (which you aren't intending to be with the themes you're taking on), it would probably have to compete with the other shows for an audience. And in the industry, everyone cares about profit. So don't think Growing Around is going to be too different.

Hell Watamote was not popular in Japan and the manga was only successful enough to continue because 4chan literally just bought the manga en masse.

And you think 4chan is going to buy some 22 year old manchild's cartoon idea that isn't even finished?

Granted, Growing Around is no Watamote, at least from what i have seen, but i consider it far more mature than something like Breadwinners, and Mr.Enter has always been a person who never believed in talking down to kids and insulting their intelligence.

I'm pretty sure adding a completely useless character, having no finished concept, and not even bothering to complete the character personality sheets isn't really much more mature. Hell, they both had the fart jokes MrEnter complained about at one point in time, so "mature" my ass.

Again, he's not doing it much differently. If he doesn't care about profit, why is he doing it? For fun? If it was for that reason he'd be doing it on the internet, not on a live network. And all those comparisons don't really make sense because for example Mario is technically made for a profit and look at all the creativity there. As for music I'm not really an expert but I'm pretty sure the same applies there.

So yeah it probably isn't marketable, which is part of why i support it

Well, if it isn't marketable it sure as hell isn't going to be on an actual TV network due to the current economic system there is now, and why would you support something just for the fact it isn't marketable? That sounds like a cover up for supporting something just because MrEnter is the one creating it to me.

(even though i only read the pilot script and wasn't even all that impressed by it although i kinda liked it somewhat).

Erm, what? If you aren't impressed it how do you like it? Oh wait, Enter's the one creating it, that's why.

And that was my tearing apart of his defense. I hope you enjoyed it.

Clearly this guy just wants to appease his lord and savior Mr. Enter.

Captain Planet was hilarious. It was one of a dozen or so shows that people watched because it was biblically stupid. It's been years - Taran and I still laugh about the AIDS episode, and we still make references to the Hitler episode.
