Alright, just did it.
NOTE: The bold is my text.
I guess the idea he has is something that appeals to smarter kids instead of being pandering bullshit like most of what's on Nickolodeon
How exactly does this appeal to "smarter" kids? I mean, it's not THAT different from pandering bullshit- no/minimal character personalities, generic plots everywhere, and hell, the concept is really undeveloped. There are many plotholes, and the way Enter and the gang is taking it, it won't be that different from Breadwinners in terms of quality.
and trying to reach an untapped audience rather than caring about profit.
"Untapped Audience"? Alright, let me laugh for about ten minutes. Alright, they aren't trying to reach an "untapped audience" because to put it straight, there ISN'T ONE. Since you guys are wanting to air it on Cartoon Network, unless it's a preschool show (which you aren't intending to be with the themes you're taking on), it would probably have to compete with the other shows for an audience. And in the industry, everyone cares about profit. So don't think Growing Around is going to be too different.
Hell Watamote was not popular in Japan and the manga was only successful enough to continue because 4chan literally just bought the manga en masse.
And you think 4chan is going to buy some 22 year old manchild's cartoon idea that isn't even finished?
Granted, Growing Around is no Watamote, at least from what i have seen, but i consider it far more mature than something like Breadwinners, and Mr.Enter has always been a person who never believed in talking down to kids and insulting their intelligence.
I'm pretty sure adding a completely useless character, having no finished concept, and not even bothering to complete the character personality sheets isn't really much more mature. Hell, they both had the fart jokes MrEnter complained about at one point in time, so "mature" my ass.
So to be fair, i can see where he is going and I support him on the idea that caring about profit only is probably the biggest threat to creativity there is and it is why Hollywood is obsessed with sequels and reboots, modern gaming is obsessed with FPS games and interactive movies that try very hard to be like Hollywood, why music is made up of the same substance less auto tuned Bullcrap, and stuff that tons of other industries are suffering from.
Again, he's not doing it much differently. If he doesn't care about profit, why is he doing it? For fun? If it was for that reason he'd be doing it on the internet, not on a live network. And all those comparisons don't really make sense because for example Mario is technically made for a profit and look at all the creativity there. As for music I'm not really an expert but I'm pretty sure the same applies there.
So yeah it probably isn't marketable, which is part of why i support it
Well, if it isn't marketable it sure as hell isn't going to be on an actual TV network due to the current economic system there is now, and why would you support something just for the fact it isn't marketable? That sounds like a cover up for supporting something just because MrEnter is the one creating it to me.
(even though i only read the pilot script and wasn't even all that impressed by it although i kinda liked it somewhat).
Erm, what? If you aren't impressed it how do you like it? Oh wait, Enter's the one creating it, that's why.
And that was my tearing apart of his defense. I hope you enjoyed it.
