Yeah, that's the one... of course that was way, way before tumbrl... or even the internet to be more precise.
And it was just a funny one-off thing, partners in crime, a relationship made by desire to give a big "fuck you" to men. And it was a great episode.
But the thing about shipping, is that romance, while it can be a boon if done well, if written by hacks, it becomes a mush in the story and characters. That is why in adventure-action oriented stories, be books, mangas, comics, games etc, you don't have much in the way of a romance, but just "romantic interests" used just to spice up the adventure, and the most you usually get is a kiss at the end, if that.
Writters tend to avoid making couples and romantic relationships the cornerstone of their stories (if they are not romances that is) because they are very easy to get sappy and corny. Just ask Star Wars Prequels.
And that is another reason why fan-fiction writting sucks, because the authors just write what they want to see their desires to be fufilled, and most of these desires are just romantic fantasies about the characters they like, that is the reason why on so many fanfics they act out of character, or sappy, lacking any of compeling story just to see a couple kiss and/or fuck.
But the problem is when fanfiction tier shit gets in the way of a real selling product, then we get shit like this:
