Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

It means Xi is going to throw the administration of Wuhan and said lab under the bus. They'd not be able to say this unless they were allowed to say it. Which means the CCP wants this to be perceived as a leaked bioweapon.

Honestly im kinda interested to see the geopolitical ramifications of it becoming officially known and recognised that this shit was an accidentally leaked bioweapon

Like normally I would expect it to be brushed under the carpet due to china's position as global sweatshop and product spammer, but given how much damage this shit looks to be doing to their economy and how angry the population looks to be getting, I wonder whether there would be something resembling actual sanctions being placed should burgerland and friends/putin and the potato posse decide to take advantage of this shit and try to spread their factory and I-cant-believe-its-not-slavery assets to more complicit third world nations?

If it comes out it was from a Chinese lab expect Governments falling over themselves to demand damage payments from China.
The whole WMD aspect may be downplayed. But everybodies gonna want their sack of gold.

This applies to pet food, as well, given the massive pet food recalls in 2007 after Chinese-sourced ingredients contaminated with melamine led to the deaths of thousands of cats and dogs in the US and elsewhere from kidney failure. That was when I stopped buying any foodstuffs made in China, both for myself and my animals.

This one's rather tricky, however, because the affected foods were manufactured in the US and Canada, but they used ingredients such as wheat gluten and rice protein that came from China. While it's possible that pet food manufacturers are now more diligent about testing Chinese ingredients for contamination, that's not something I'd want to count on. So reading pet food labels is important if you're trying to reduce the risks.

I can't speak about dog food, because I don't have dogs, but my impression is that more shitty stuff ends up in both wet and dry dog food because dogs are omnivores and can subsist on a lot of highly-refined vegetable proteins in a way that cats, as obligate carnivores, cannot. But that doesn't stop the pet food industry from selling kibble made for cats that includes a lot of plant-derived ingredients (especially from corn and rice) that cats have absolutely no business eating. There are also a lot of wet food varieties that are in "gravy," which is usually composed of wheat gluten--and it was wheat gluten that was a primary source of melamine poisoning in 2007.

So my recommendation with cats is to get them off kibble and onto an all-wet diet that contains as little in the way of plant-derived ingredients as possible, especially those that are highly refined. Doing that not only reduces the risk of their getting poisoned by contaminated Chinese ingredients, but also drastically reduces cats' overall risk of developing kidney disease and/or diabetes as they age.

Cat food is more susceptible to the Chinese asshatery because the Melanine or rather Antifreeze is used to fool Protein content tests. So high protein things like a Cat Food and Baby Formula get doctored with it.

Which in and of itself assumes that silly old bear is in full control of the situation, and that the CCP isnt a nightmarish wasteland of backstabbing, desertion, and lies that make the DNC look like a Jesuit pilgrimage to the remains of the True Cross

Xi has been purging the party of opponents under the guise of anti-corruption for years now. They even made a fun little video game where you can torture "corrupt" officials in prison with electricity.

I'd be very surprised if there was anyone left with the power to mount a legit challenge to Pooh Bear's reign.

While taking the morning walk thought about some things.

Without further ado, here are Uncle Joe's "What The Fucks".

1. If Xi and his sycophants knew of the existence of WuFlu as early as December, why were there apparently no efforts made to bring in supplies and alert at least the top people in ALL provinces as to what could happen? Any national/provincial/state government worth the name has a department whose job it is to plan for and react to contingencies such as the WuFlu. Either Beijing had no plan or Xi kept the information close hold until it was impossible to deny. What the fuck?

2. Last evening saw some "workers" being "disinfected". I saw a grand total of two people going through an outdoor shower apparatus, one male, one female, one at a time. They were dressed in street clothes, including jackets/coats. Their outer clothing got soaked with the "disinfecting" solution. Probably took several gallons for each person. Now, how will this apparatus disinfect hundreds or even scores of people coming through at one time, such as shift change? How will this work, say, in Beijing, let alone Manchuria, this time of year? I can assure you winter in Northeast Asia is cold and often windy as hell. Where will the powers be get all the "disinfectant"? Gonna need lots and lots, every day, maybe all day long. The people being "disinfected" were wearing their coats/jackets. Do you seriously think these people will work all day long wearing those soaked outer garments? The clothes under the coats/jackets weren't touched. What the fuck?

3. Many Chinese people live in or near poverty. Those who are locked down can't go to work and earn money. But they need money to buy the food/supplies they are allowed out to get. What happens to those families who run out of money? What the fuck?

4. Xi wants Chinese factories to get back to work. I figure it takes 4-6 weeks for an item produced in a Chinese factory to end up on a store shelf in the USA. But how do we know there is no virus in or on the item? You can disinfect hard/ impermeable things like plastic items, pots and pans, plates, and drinking glasses with bleach. But you cannot disinfect shoes or clothes with bleach without fucking them right up. Imagine you could wipe down the outside surfaces of electronics and exposed surfaces of appliances. But would YOU take the word of a Chinese producer that their products are "certified virus-free"? Really? Are you exceptional? Expect people to be very careful which, if any, newly-produced Chinese-made products they buy. This also goes for food products from China. Take a look at a bag of frozen tilapia/salmon/other fish. Look at the origin. Lots of frozen fish coming from China. Have no idea if freezing will kill virus, but once again how can we trust a Chinese producer to say their product is virus-free. Would think canned goods should be safe due to cooking during processing, but who can be sure now? What the fuck?

If anyone has any factual evidence to answer any of these questions, or dispel the concerns expressed, please do so. If one person is writing such things, you can bet a number of others are thinking them and just haven't written them down.
I keep thinking about Fucking Shoes. Not stupid fashion shoes with nosebleed heels but day to day work shoes. Almost all shoes are made in china these days. If one needs shoes it might be a good time to shop the seasonal sales. I walk into the nearest Freddie's and most all the shoes and clothing are chinese-made. This illness might not be catastrophic, but it has definitely put a hurting on the supply chain already and things could get a little weird in consumer land come summer. I don't doubt the big boxes will find other supply (and a good thing too, the recent influx of chinese made clothes I've seen make plastic tarp material look durable and smart) but there are going to be upsets like disruptions and price increases. Can I also say last year's mustard puke palatte sucked? I can't blame the chinese for that, tho.

At least underwear seems to stay in the western hemisphere so I won't panty panic right now.

ETA: For the record, my work shoes are Georgia Boots, they used to be made in the US, guess where they're made now.

Yep, it doesn't matter how much you're willing to pay fr footwear unless you're in the 1% who can afford custom made Saville Road shoes made by hand. Eeven old-school old reliable brands that were once a mark of quality and product longevity now outsource to the cheapshit economies and have suffered a marked drop in quality.

China, Vietnam, Brazil, India are all part of the supply chain for brands such as Clarks, Doc Martens etc, and the outsourcing away from Britain was always accompanied by a marked drop in quality while prices continued to rise, which is the part that always infuriated me. Don't ask £200+ for boots you made for a tiny fraction of what you used to pay to manufacture them, drop the prices or GTFO. Fly London which made great boots moved a lot of manufacturing from its old factories in the cheap end of the EU (Portugal, with its high unemployment and super-shit wages, but good standards of product) to even shitter wages and fuck-you type manufacturers in China and lo and behold produced boots whose soles fell off, that let in water in mild rain and which didn't last a year. They lost their reputation with the move to China with a lot of former fans swearing off their product for life after purchasing one of their Made in China libes, but I'm sure it was all worth it for the extra profits in the short term.

I hate it when people say you get what you pay for. You don't anymore, that's the issue. You pay for branding and many firms are happy to trade on their old image of quality while being no better than any other fast fashion manufactuer anymore. I am quite happy to shell out three figures for boots that will last years and years and will just need occasional resoling. I'm not happy to pay that for boots which don't last all that much longer than ones that cost 1/5 of the price or whose zips will break and require expensive replacement sooner rather than later.

I saw that Clarks brough a little manufacturing back to the UK in 2018 in response to people twigging onto their whole made in China shit and losing trade. The vast bulk of their shoes and boots are still made in poverty holes though, their quality reflects it while the prices don't and it irks. You can buy better boots secondhand on ebay than available in shops now if you're prepared to wait and buy classic older products with a little wear.

Shoosh. I said SHOOSH! The more people who know our secret, the harder it will get for us to get those tasty bargains. But really, get yourself some black leather military boots that were rotated out of uniform regulations. I have a 15-year-old pair that still won't quit. You couldn't pry my old Belleville Vibrams from my cold dead hands.

Returning to the topic... On the off-chance that China is hit hard enough to truly reduce their population with some doomsday type shit, this could honestly be the fire under their asses that western companies need in order to start producing quality goods again. It sucks that shitloads of people would be dead, but at least a few good things would come out of it. China getting hit with a freight train would undo a lot of economic damage done to the west over the past few decades.

Do you have any brand(s) in mind to recommend?
Making your own is cheaper than you'd likely think and the best possible way to feed your cats and dogs. Don't bother with the organic-label chicken and crap, just stock up on sale raw chicken breasts, chicken hearts and water-canned skipjack (chunk light) tuna without additives. Precooked salad shrimps can also be shockingly cheap at times. Just be sure to check sources and additives. You'll also likely end up eating more lean, healthy meat in the process.

So I noticed that the US cases went from 15 to 29 yesterday evening. I can't find anything about this on google news however. Does anyone know anything?

It has to do with Travis AFB, I think, so you won't be hearing much for a while if you hear anything at all.

You know something is very wrong when the number of news crews at the base main gate goes from 7+ at the start down to one or two for a while and then back up to 7+. Not telling airmen and other base-dwellers what's going on (they never warned any of us about the quarantine save for a fucking FB post) at any point before or during the import of infected seems pretty bad. The fact that they aren't even telling the airmen who work at the hospital anything looks even worse. Not securing the lodging area used as quarantine is fucking terrifying. Those fences around the quarantined lodging we were promised? I think the chain-link is about elbow-high and I don't know if there are even any SF guarding them.

Then again, them not taking this very seriously could possibly mean it's not really a big deal, but that outlook is optimistic at best and exceptionally deadly at worst. Hopefully the worst thing about all of this will be the stress and the fucking news van faggots clogging up the main gate entry while exceptional USAF PR reps entertain them like good little trained doggies.

They will do everything they can to supply the big corps. (Amazon, Walmart, ect.) but a large number of smaller companies are about to get fucked on their orders.
Remember people, the smaller the company the faster it can react to shitshows. Look for investment opportunities in S.A. and the Philippines.
If this goes on much longer be ready to short Apple, Walmart, Amazon ect.

Folks, I call your attention to the bit at the end re the university professor making a statement condemning Emperor Xi for this thing. He says up front that this would be the last message of his life. Xi never misses a chance to be a little bitch, does he? In our neck of the woods President Trump has shown himself to be pretty thin-skinned at times, but nobody disappears after making a public statement criticizing him. Once again, Emperor Xi shows the world not does he have any clothes, he's also a little bitch, in charge of a country that's looking more and more desperate by the day. Bet Deng Hsiao-ping is spinning in his grave at 300 rpm.

If you keep seeing prominent people in China risking everything to criticize Xi and the CCP for this Biblical-scale fuckup, you know something terrible is indeed going on.

This makes no sense at all. Recently there was a news item about just how securely quarantined personnel were housed at March AFB. It's here, earlier in this thread. Sounds like Travis needs a new base commander. Stay safe.

@Judge Holden - Five gets you ten that just about EVERY foreign company with a Chinese plant is at least looking into the possibilities of moving some or all of their operations out of China. To not at least explore the possibility is beyond retarded.
